Instinctively the first thing that came to my mind was Run!
I pushed him away and tried running past him but he grabbed my arm and hauled me back, slamming me against the glass wall.
“You’re not running away fiance” He whispered in my ear, his lips grazing my ear lobe. He pinned one arm on the wall beside me while keeping the other locked on my wrist, trapping me in as he pressed his body against mine. He leaned down and nuzzled his nose in my hair. “Hailey” He murmured in a husky tone, his eyes fluttering close as he inhaled my scent. “You smell so good” He purred.
“R-release me” I stuttered, my voice almost a whisper.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
He stayed like that for a moment and landed a small kiss on my ear lobe before pulling away.
Then he grasped my hand. “Come. I’m too exhausted. Let’s cook together”
“What-” But he started dragging me to the kitchen.
Ian came to a halt in front of the kitchen cabinet and opened it, taking a spaghetti out. “Let’s settle for this today”
“That’s it?” I asked in confusion.
“That’s it what?”
“You are not gonna say anything about me breaking in?”
“Well-” Ian turned on the stove. “I’m impressed that you have many talents but very mad at the security here. How can I ask you to live here when anyone can just break in?” Ian poured water into the pot.
My eyes widened as hope began to bloom within me. “So you don’t want me to live here anymore?”
Ian waited in silence till the water boiled and then put the spaghetti into it.
“No I want you to live here, that’s not gonna change. But I have a complaint to file and ask Mr. Prescott to fire some people. And-” Ian pointed to a slotted spoon. “pass me that spoon please”
“You can’t fire the security!” I exclaimed as I passed him the spoon. “They didn’t do anything. It’s… uhh it’s not their fault that people who do illegal things are getting good at it” Really Hailey?
“What a poor excuse” He mumbled.
“Ian” I said more louder to get his attention. “You can’t fire them. I’m the one who did wrong. I broke in. Punish me if you want to”
“It’s your house too” He stirred the spaghetti. “So it’s not technically breaking in”
I rolled my eyes heavenward. “Listen. This is not my house and you can’t fire the security”
“This is your house and I will fire the security. Now please fetch me the sauce from there” He pointed to the fridge.
A muscle in my jaw twitched. I stayed there, glaring at him, my fists clenching at my sides. Ian smirked while stirring the spaghetti and I lost it. “Uhh you’re so annoying” I opened the fridge and took the sauce out. “Here’s your stupid sauce” I gave it to him and huffed angrily.
Ian chuckled. “You get angry very easily”
“Happy realisation”
“Come and help me cook”
“No thank you”
“Just come”
“You realise that has a double meaning right?”
“I know and I’ll say that to you in that way someday”
I scoffed in disbelief, keeping a hand over my heart “My God this guy’s crazy”
“Just come”
“Stop saying that” I screamed and Ian couldn’t stop laughing.
I stomped over to him angrily. “Give that to me” I grabbed the spoon in fury and helped him cook the spaghetti. The entire time Ian kept glancing at me and every time I gave a him a death glare in return.
After we finished cooking, Ian served the spaghetti into two dishes and laid them on the dining table. He pulled a chair for me but I ignored it and sat on the one beside it. Ian rolled his eyes and took a seat across from me.
As I was about to dig into my food, my phone rang.
“Hello?” I answered it.
“Why the hell aren’t you coming down? We’ve been waiting here forever” Lexi’s voice barked through the phone.
Shit.
“Umm…” I glanced at Ian who was staring at me with a knowing smile on his lips. Stupid Kingston. “I’m having dinner with Ian”
The other end was silent. 1, 2, 3 “Ahhhhhhhh” Lexi screamed and I had to take the phone away from my ear.
“How the hell did you get caught?” She yelled.
“I’ll tell you later” I said while eyeing Ian who looked very interested in our conversation. “Bye see you” I cut the call and set my phone down.
Ian twirled the spaghetti in his spoon. “I assume those are your partners in crime. What are their names again? Ahh yes, Lexi and Brian isn’t it?”
I scowled and dug into my food. Why the hell am I having dinner with him? Stupid Hailey.
“So-” He broke our one second peaceful silence. “How do you find the house?”
“Typical” liar
Ian gave a lop sided grin. “How so?”
“You know glass walls, king size beds, locked rooms. Just the same” I waved a dismissive hand and continued with the eating.
Ian chuckled. “Locked rooms? I see you did your fair share of inspection” He grinned and leaned back on his seat, folding his arms across his chest. “So, aren’t you curious to know what’s in there?”
“Nah I read too many billionaire books to know what’s in there”
Ian raised an amused brow. “So what’s in there?”
“You know furniture of your past lover or their photos, something like that” I said in a bored tone and glanced down to continue with my eating but then my head jerked up as another example came into my mind. “Or maybe even a red room” I mumbled in shock.
Ian let out a laugh. “Neither”
“Then what?” I narrowed my eyes.
“You want to see?”
The corners of my lips twitched up into Cheshire grin “Omg you’re gonna show me? Cool cool cool” I clapped excitedly. “Let’s go!”
“Curiousity kills the cat” He pointed out.
“It’s all right. Cat has nine lives”
Ian chuckled and shook his head. “It’s going to be a hell of a ride”
“What is?”
“My life”
I frowned. “Why?”
“Because you’re gonna be there” He smirked and before I could smash his head into pieces he stood up from his chair and came over to me, grabbing my arm and pulling me up.
“Let’s go” He dragged me upstairs to the locked room and took a key from his pocket before unlocking the door. He then turned the knob and opened the door.
And I gasped.
(Picture at the beginning)
Inside was a glowing pool elevated to a certain height that had the sky painted above it. From one side of the ceiling flowed water into a separated part of the pool like tiny sparkles giving an ethereal appearance to the entire place. Pool benches were placed on two sides of the room while the rest had glass walls overlooking the city below.
“You like it?”
In awe, I stepped inside the room and spun around. “Am I in heaven?”
Ian smiled. “No but this is my heaven”
“What do you mean?” I glanced at him.
He folded his hands behind his back and sighed, sagging his shoulders. “This is the place where I come to relax. This is where I come up with my strategic plans, my tactics, my tricks. Simply everything”
“So basically, you grow brains when you jump into the pool?” I asked in puzzlement and then frowned. “Maybe you should do it again”
“Very funny Miss Evans”
I grinned and glanced back at the pool in awe. I could stare at it all day long if I want to but unfortunately I have no intention of staying here thanks to the evil presence who owns this place.
But a few minutes won’t hurt.
So I walked over to a pool bench and sat on it, my eyes fixated on the ceiling painted resembling the sky.
“It’s beautiful” I murmured as my eyes captured everything into memory. “But” I turned to him. “FYI, even though you showed me this, I still hate you”
Ian came and sat next to me. “Noted”
“And you’re not gonna fire the security”
“Not happening”
“You’re so annoying”
“I realised”
I threw my head back and groaned in irritation. “You’re crazy”
“Thank you”
I counted to ten in my head to stop myself from clawing at his face and then looked at him. “Tell me” I narrowed my eyes. “Why didn’t you pick anyone else to play your fiance role?”
“That’s where you’re wrong Miss Evans. This is not a role” He gave me a smug look. “You’re stuck with me forever”
I took a deep breath and fanned myself to calm my temper. “Why do I even bother talking to you? Maybe I should jump into the pool and grow some brains” I mumbled and leaned back on the bench, scowling in frustration.
Ian chuckled and leaned next to me.
I gave him a side glare and glanced up at the ceiling, having the urge to get myself lost in the stars but instead my eyes began slowly fluttering close, day’s exhaustion finally taking me over.
Then I felt a small kiss on my head before darkness invaded me.
