Chater 29
Chapter 29 Anger and Humiliation
Benson was clearly aware of his mistake and lowered his head in apology. "I'm sorry, Grandpa. I won't do it again."
"Time for some family discipline," Edward ordered, glancing at the butler.
The butler bowed respectfully and exited the room.
Janet's expression changed instantly. She stood up quickly and said, “Dad, Benson has already admitted his mistake and promised not to repeat it. Please, spare him this time."
“If he doesn't get punished for his mistakes, he'll just do it again,” Edward replied firmly, leaving no room for negotiation.
Janet's eyes began to fill with tears. In desperation, she nudged Liam, signaling him to intervene.
"Dad is right. Benson should be punished,” Liam said, echoing Edward's stance as if he didn't notice his wife's plea.
Janet was so furious that she nearly fainted. However, she could only watch helplessly as the butler returned with a cane.
Benson knelt silently, enduring six strikes without a sound. His hands were clenched into tight fists, and sweat beaded on his forehead.
After the punishment, Janet was already in tears. She rushed to help Benson up, her face full of distress. "Mom, I'm fine," Benson reassured her, though his face was ashen.
Janet's heart ached, but as her eyes landed on the cold, indifferent man sitting to the side, her anger flared even more.noveldrama
Despite watching his own nephew be punished, he hadn't spoken a word in his defense but only coldly observed. Janet's fury boiled over.
"Isn't Sierra always around you? Why didn't she stop you from drinking this time? She says she cares about you- this is her idea of caring?” Janet snapped, venting her frustration as she suddenly thought of Sierra.
Benson's eyes darkened, and his dry lips parted to say, "She wasn't with me."
"She's like your shadow! Always following your every step. Why wasn't she trailing behind you today?
"I knew that girl wasn't as pure and kind as she pretends to be. And she's supposed to be your girlfriend? She couldn't even handle something this simple!" Janet's words dripped with disdain, expressing her dislike for Sierra.
Benson frowned, irritated by Janet's remarks. But thinking of Sierra's recent behavior, he said nothing.
If it hadn't been for Sierra insisting on breaking up with him, he wouldn't have gotten drunk, fought with someone, or ended up in the police station. “Janet, do you really think of Sierra as Benson's nanny?" Theo, who had been silently observing from the sofa, suddenly spoke, his gaze sharp and his tone icy. Janet scoffed, replying arrogantly, "She's Benson's girlfriend. It's her duty to look after him."
"Is Benson a child who needs looking after?" Theo's eyes narrowed slightly, and a cold, mocking aura radiated from him.
Janet's expression shifted, but she responded haughtily, “Sierra is lucky to be dating my Benson. It would be her greatest blessing to marry into the Gray family and become my daughter-in-law.
"So what if I ask her to look after him?”
Theo's handsome face turned as cold as ice, his dark eyes narrowing, sending a chilling aura across the
room.
His voice was frigid and cutting. “Then I suggest that you hire a wife for Benson from a housekeeping agency, rather than wasting the time of a decent young woman.”
Janet finally exploded. She stood up from the sofa and shouted furiously at Theo, "Theo, that's too much! Benson is your nephew-how can you insult him like that?"
What do you think?
