Chapter 21 : Just a ‘thanks’?

A faint warmth spread from his fingertips, and Wendy felt a pain in her heart. She looked at Rex with her watery eyes.

The man exuded an irresistible aura from his body.

“Wendy, you dare to hit me?!” Jenny knew that begging was useless so she glared at him.

Wendy pursed her lips and turned to stare at Jenny without blinking.

Her eyes were full of killing intent, completely different from the mild appearance before.

“Sister,” Wendy said, the hand hanging at her side had already curled into a fist.

She had once dreamed of this scene.

After being bullied by Jenny for so many years, she was finally able to– Wendy exhaled deeply.

“Pa!”

A crisp sound could be heard in the dining room. Jenny screamed, and blood oozed out of the corner of her mouth.

Jenny’s eyes were filled with tears and it looked as if they would fall at any moment. Her fingers trembled slightly.

Rex lowered his eyes and fixed them on her. Her pale face was reflected in his dark pupils.

“Sis, this slap isn’t for me,” Wendy said through gritted teeth. “It’s for my mother! As her junior, not only do you insult her verbally, you even use my mother to threaten me. That’s why this slap is worthwhile!”

Jenny covered the left side of her face and looked at Wendy in disbelief.

Wendy forced a smile and said, “Sis, I’m teaching you a lesson on behalf of dad.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Jenny struggled to grab Wendy’s hair and roared, “You b*tch, you’re as cheap as your mother!”

Wendy was trembling with anger, but Rex easily pinched Jenny’s falling hand.

His eyes were filled with anger, and his voice was deep and mellow. “Jenny, I don’t hit women. I’ve booked this restaurant today, so no one else has seen you in such a mess. You’d better quit while you still can.”

After saying that, Rex threw Jenny’s arm down, turned around, and pulled Wendy away.

After leaving the restaurant, he stuffed Wendy into a black Bentley like he was stuffing luggage.

“What are you crying about?” Rex’s said angrily. Wendy sniffled and turned to look at him with tears in her eyes. “Thank you.”

Rex raised his eyebrows and didn’t say anything.

“How does it feel to take revenge?”

Wendy pursed her lips and took out a few pieces of tissues to hold in her hand.

“Truth be told…… I never thought about acting like this with her.”

“Then do you want to be bullied by her all the time?”

“I……”

There was a flash of impatience in Rex’s eyes. He threw the tissue into his seat, turned around, and took out an exquisite lighter from his pocket to light a cigarette. “Rex Gavyn’s woman can’t be bullied for no reason.”

Wendy raised her head and looked at him. He frowned and said, “Wipe your face clean. You look like a tabby cat. Don’t embarrass me.”

The worship she had just accumulated in her mind instantly collapsed. Wendy let out a muffled grunt and wiped her face clean.

Rex’s slender figure leaned against the sofa. When he saw that Wendy was still sitting in the car, he put out the cigarette irritably and ordered Clare Smith, “Go.”

Clare drove silently……

Wendy looked out of the window and felt as if someone was poking her in the heart. She said softly, “The thing about my mother…… Thank you.”

“Thank you?” Rex opened his eyes. “Are these the only words you can use to express your gratitude?”
