Divorcing 414
Chapter 414 Poetry Gathering
Wesley's ears were still ringing from Candy's thunderous roar as he glanced helplessly at Chloe.
"It's alright. That's just how she is."
Twenty minutes later, Candy burst through the doors of the Opal Group.
Her arrival was pre-cleared by Wesley's forewarning to the front desk. Therefore, she stormed straight into his office.
"Wesley, you jerk! How dare you lay a hand on my friend? Do you think I can dismantle the Opal Group from the inside out?"
Her gaze fell upon Chloe, who was serene and sipping coffee at her desk.
"Chloe..."
Chloe beckoned Candy over with a gentle wave. "Come here. Sit down."
As Candy complied, Chloe rose gracefully. "You two catch up, so I'll make myself scarce."
"Oh, no..."
Candy's face was a canvas of confusion as she watched Chloe depart, her mind still reeling. Only when the room was left to her and Wesley did she turn her fiery gaze back on him. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
"Are you dense? I've made it clear we've broken up..."
Chloe emerged from the Opal Group with a spring in her step.
She had signed a contract with the Opal Group as their next year's spokesperson when she waited for Candy just then.
Opting not to drive, Chloe had planned to hail a taxi back to Urban Lane when she bumped into Quinn.
Quinn glided the window down to reveal his inviting smile. "Hop in!"
Inside, Chloe inquired, "What brings you here?"
"I noticed your car was idle in the garage, so I thought I'd lend a hand. The contract is sealed?"
"Yes, it's a relief to have that settled."
The ease on Chloe's face seemed to relax Quinn further. "I spotted a poetry gathering at the Grand Theater. I recall your fondness for Jorge Luis Borges, the poet. Care to join me?" Chloe was a little surprised.
She had only finalized her divorce two days ago and had been immersed in work.
Therefore, she was oblivious to cultural events unfolding in her beloved poet's realm.
Quinn's mention sparked her interest, and she swiftly checked her phone.
Disappointment flickered across her features as she found the tickets sold out. "But the tickets are all gone."
Quinn watched her crestfallen expression with a mix of amusement and tenderness, noting the marked change in her demeanor post-divorce. She was lighter and more vibrant than before.
"I have a pair. Thought you might fancy it, so I secured two from the start."
Chloe's eyes lit up. "Quinn, you're my very own magical pocket! Whatever I desire, you provide!"
Meanwhile, in Paramount Airlines, Michael stared at the work on the computer screen in his office.
He tilted his head back and twisted his neck.
"Mr. Shawn, here are the tickets you requested."
Ethan laid two tickets for the poetry gathering of Borges on the desk.
A slight confusion consumed Ethan as to when Michael had developed an interest in Borges. More surprisingly, Michael asked him to buy two tickets.
But he didn't ask Michael, whose thoughts drifted to the poetry collection Chloe had left on their bedside table.
Upon his return the previous day, Michael had noticed her wedding ring had replaced the poetry collection.
He recalled her affinity for Borges.
"Send one ticket to Bright Moon International for Chloe to collect."
Ethan was stunned and thought, "Was this a gesture for Mrs. Shawn?
Yet, why didn't Mr. Shawn deliver it personally?"
No one at Paramount Airlines was privy to the fact that Michael and Chloe had divorced.
"Is there anything else?"
Ethan shuddered and left with one of the tickets.
Michael knew Chloe had severed all communication lines with him. He refrained from sending messages.
But he hoped that the poetry gathering ticket would entice her attendance.
He just prayed for a chance to encounter her at the event.
