Hunter pressed his lips together. "Grandpa, is there really no room for negotiation on this?"
He knew all too well that his grandfather would follow through with his threat to call Jenna and demand the bracelet back.
"No room at all!" Mr. Jasper Sr's tone was firm and unwavering. The bracelet was a gift for Mia, and it could only belong to her.
Standing quietly to the side, Sam kept his head down, pretending not to listen. Honestly, he agreed with Mr. Jasper Sr. It didn't seem right that Hunter had given the family bracelet, meant for Mia, to Jenna. And to make matters worse, it had blown up on social media. But he was just an employee, and it wasn't his place to say anything.
"How about we wait until Mia gets here and talk to her before making a decision?" Hunter's voice was raspy, clearly hesitant.
He couldn't shake the memory of how, years ago, Jenna had secretly slipped him some cash. That money had saved his life when he was on the run. Now, she was only asking for a bracelet. How could he deny her this one wish?
"There's nothing to discuss!" Mr. Jasper Sr. was growing more irritated. "Hunter, when did you turn into such a soft-hearted fool?"
Where was that ruthless King of Hell everyone talked about?
Just then, the door swung open, and a soft, gentle voice filled the room. "Hunter, I'm here!"
Sam glanced up and saw Jenna walk in. Hunter had previously instructed that Jenna could come and go freely, so now she had full access to the office.
A few days ago, he overheard the women gossiping in the break room, saying how lucky Jenna was to be Mrs. Jasper. Some were even planning on cozying up to her.
He couldn't help but think, if they knew the real Mrs. Jasper was Mia, what kind of expressions would they have?
Hunter, momentarily surprised, turned towards Jenna. Seeing her wearing nothing but a thin coat, his expression darkened immediately. "Why are you here? And why aren't you dressed warmer? Your body isn't the same as it used to be. If you catch a cold, you be the one suffering. Then you'll just end up

He walked over, grabbing a coat from the rack, and draped it over her shoulders with gentle care.
Jenna gazed at him affectionately. "Hunter, I came to return the bracelet."
She slowly removed the bracelet from her wrist, offering it to him, though there was a slight hesitation in her grip.
Mr. Jasper Sr. had been about to explode with anger, but seeing her gesture, he held back, waiting for the right moment. He could yell at her after the bracelet was safely back in his hands.
"The bracelet was a gift, so it's yours now. Why give it back? Just wear it," Hunter said, his words barely out when Mr. Jasper Sr. rushed over.
"That bracelet belongs to me! Hand it over!" Mr. Jasper Sr. exclaimed.
He then fumed internally, thinking. Is Hunter out of his mind? She's offering to return it, and he's not even accepting!" Jenna acted as if she had just noticed Mr. Jasper Sr., quickly greeting him, "Oh, Grandpa, you're here too!"
Mr. Jasper Sr. didn't respond to her pleasantries. Instead, he reached out and demanded, "Give me the bracelet."
"Grandpa!" Hunter's displeasure was evident. Wasn't it ridiculous to take back a gift after it had already been given?
Jenna obediently handed the bracelet to Mr. Jasper Sr. "I just thought it was pretty and asked Hunter if 1 could borrow it for a few days. I never intended to keep it. Now, it's back where it belongs. Please take it, Grandpa. After that phone call with Mia, Jenna had carefully weighed her options. She definitely wanted the bracelet, but even more, she wanted Hunter's heart and commitment.
She would return the bracelet for now and wait for Mia and Hunter to divorce.
Once she officially became Mrs. Jasper, everything would be hers anyway.
