Chapter 1438
He couldn't bear to part with Waverly!
For the first time, Wyatt became well aware that he had gotten serious and that he couldn't back out anymore. Hence, he was back to square one. He had to make a choice between two women!
In fact, the situation before his eyes was already pretty much obvious. If he couldn't bear to part with her, then...
Wyatt's heart panged again at the thought of Raynee. But strangely, it only lasted for a few seconds this time before it disappeared.
As the saying goes, better a neighbor nearby than a brother far away. Relationships needed to be maintained! In their years of separation, the absence didn't make their heart grow fonder but instead had genuinely worn them thin. Take now, for instance. He had already gotten used to it-perhaps he and Raynee had indeed separated for too long—and he didn't think it was a big deal for her not to be around. Even in that split-second feeling, he felt more guilty than reluctant.
Then it hit him. Perhaps some things between him and Raynee had long changed, or how could a woman he wasn't close with rattle him up so easily?
Waverly, on the other hand, looked a little skeptical at him with the bag in her arms, dubious. She was still somewhat hesitant!
Their eyes met, but Wyatt thought her sly thoughts were absolutely adorable and amusing. He came back to his senses nearly instantly and couldn't help stealing a kiss on her cheek.
"I'll take it as a yes if you're not going to say anything!"
Waverly glared at him in response as she held her cheek, her face flushed from embarrassment this time.
"Wyatt!" She pursed her lips, yelling through gritted teeth. But then she turned meek. "I'm not your pet. Can you not be so flippant?"
He'd hug and touch her whenever he wanted, and now he even kissed her as he pleased!
Unbelievable!
He just said he wouldn't force her, and it hadn't even been a minute, but now he has already forgotten! It was certainly true that a man's words couldn't be trusted!
But he was a mere mortal with emotions and desires after all. She'd actually have butterflies when he 'attacked' her every now and then like this. Likewise, the thrill of romance would also interfere with her senses and affect her judgment!
However, she couldn't deny that at this moment, she felt happy inside, indescribably happy! The sudden feeling was like a roaring wave, engulfing her, giving her no chance to refuse. So it was better to say that she was whining rather than declining.
Wyatt had never been so calm and relaxed as he held her in his arms. He unconsciously hugged her tighter and rested his forehead against hers, nuzzling it. The joy in his words was also palpable.
"Waverly..."
The two cuddled, and in the end, Waverly still stayed.noveldrama
Wyatt went to answer a call, and Waverly, in the meantime, wandered around to familiarize herself with the place. But deep down, she couldn't help feeling a little annoyed with her softness.
Why did she agree?
She'd be called out for being pretentious if she requested to sleep in the guest bedroom, wouldn't she? Great!
After looking around, she could only console herself to take things as they come!
She hadn't expected much to
happen during Christmas, but it had actually delighted her, especially when she looked at the stunning bag on the couch. For one, like any other woman, she had a thing for these things, and two, their short
separation made the gift more
meaningful. It wasn't entirely
because of how expensive the gift was but that this moment was really wonderful!
However, to her knowledge, the price of a gift also possessed a certain significance. Take now, for instance. He had given her a costly limited edition bag.
At least it'd have her thinking that he was willing to spend money on her. She could at least give him a pass. He wasn't all bad!
She had let her mind run wild. Wyatt was still on the phone, so Waverly went to the bathroom. She couldn't actually make herself at home no matter how bored she was, could she?
Wyatt felt absolutely exasperated when he got an unexpected call for a debt collection. He first appeased the caller, then had to call Seth about it, and in the end, dredged the whole thing before calling the person back.
"Relax, Victor! The transaction has already been made. It's just that it hadn't reached your account. There was a coordination issue between my accounting department and the bank, and it missed today's deadline. That's why it got delayed! When have I ever owed you in our years of partnership?"
"Don't worry. It'll reach you in two days..." Wyatt could obviously sense that Victor had met with some problems as he clearly sounded off. However Wyatt could only listen and smooth things over as he pounded his head, troubled. Then, he inadvertently glided his gaze to find a certain someone 'snooping' behind him not far away, and suddenly his heavy head became as light as a feather.
Victor rambled on, but Wyatt couldn't even interject, only ever humming in response.
He turned around again, but just as he was about to say something, he looked up
to find Waverly had popped into his line of sight again, still as eager as before. Unknowingly, he focused his gaze on her and even got somewhat serious.
What has gotten into her?
Did she have something to tell him? She wasn't going to run away again, was she?
As the thoughts crossed his mind, Victor finally stopped nagging, and at that, Wyatt hurriedly ended the call.
"It's getting late, Victor! You should get some rest! If the transaction still doesn't go through after two days, I'll personally take it to you. Don't worry!"
After ending the call, he saw a new message. But just as he was about to open it, Waverly approached him and tugged on his sleeve.
Wyatt's attention was drawn back to her, and his gaze fell on her face.
Her face was flushed, lips pursed, and she was visibly bashful.
At that, he turned to his side and
caressed her face, asking in bafflement, "What's wrong?" What happened that got her to react like this? "I, um, it's my time of the month!" Waverly whispered super softly, mortified. It was her first time telling a man about something like this. What was more, their relationship was an obscure one!
"Huh? What time?" Wyatt asked in bafflement. He didn't catch what she said, so
he naturally didn't get what she was trying to say.
Her face turned bright red in response as she shot a glare at him before covering her face with her hands, shouting," His face instantly turned red with blood, and his big bright eyes stared at him. He couldn't help covering his face with his little hand and shouting, "Bloody Mary!"
Didn't that mean... she was on her period?
It was his first rodeo, just as it was Waverly's, and in an instant, Wyatt's face flushed, mortified as well. However, he concealed it well, not only placid but even reached out to hug her.
"It's okay, don't worry! I'll help you ask the servants..."
No woman lived here, so there naturally wouldn't be a 'napkin' in this house. But
he did have maids. It wouldn't be too hard to find a new one when women would mostly have them on standby, would it?
What do you think?
