Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 38

Chapter 38

When Rachel walked out of the Smith Group building, she happened tosee Adrian adjusting his tie, holding a briefcase, and exuding a stern and austere murderous aura. It was as if he would have charged into the Smith Group’s building to carry out a massacre if she had been a minute later.

The moment Adrian saw Rachel, his eyes grew colder. A trace of worry appeared in his eyes. He sized her up and asked eagerly, “Did that scumbag make things hard for you?”

He was clearly overprotective.

A warm and fuzzy feeling surged in Rachel’s heart, and a trace of joy appeared on her cold and aloof face. She answered, “No. Besides, I can cope with this trivial matter on my own.”

Adrian looked up at the Smith Group with a trace of mockery in his eyes. “The Smith Group actually abandoned you for a lowly starlet, huh? Is that all they’re capable of?”

Hearing the remarks Adrian made about Olivia, Rachel couldn’t help but raise her brows.

Lowly starlet…

After all these years of being in the entertainment industry, Olivia was almost an A–list celebrity and one of the top four most popular actresses. However, despite her achievements, the Johnson family still thought she wasn’t worthy enough.

The only reason was that the Johnson family was incredibly powerful and rich. As for their status…

Even now, no one could replace them as the richest family in Seaxas.

“Let’s go home,” Adrian said as he took Rachel’s hand and turned around to get inside the car. “Sir even called to ask about you just now. He misses you.”

Rachel nodded. When she bent forward and was about to get inside the call, she made a call to someone. “Deal with the footage of the surveillance cameras at the Smith Group,” she instructed.

advantage of.

From now on, there was longer a Rachel Grey who fought for love, only Rachel Grey, the heiress of the Johnson family, the richest in Seaxas.

In fact, Old Mr. Johnson was not the only one who missed Rachel. There was also David, who was far away in the conference room of the Stellar Corporation.

In the conference room on the 88th floor of the building, everyone was engulfed by an intense and massive sense of oppression. It was like a huge cloud looming over everyone’s heads.

The department executives in the conference room were sitting upright, not daring to take a breath at all for fear that they would completely anger the big shot in the master seat.

It was said that people newly appointed to positions of responsibility tended to make far–reaching changes. This young and powerful CEO was not only not to be underestimated, but his methods were also resolute and menacing. On the day he assumed his new position. he got rid of all the directors who threw their weight around because of their seniority.

His menacing ways were also the reason that everyone in the office had a new understanding of him.

The department manager standing at the rostrum had just gingerly finished the performance report. Even after a long time, he still didn’t get any remarks from the CEO.

Time passed by, minute after minute and second after second. The department manager’s forehead was covered in sweat. He bit his teeth and shuddered uncontrollably.

A second before his knees went weak to where he couldn’t help but kneel and beg for mercy, the department manager looked at Eddie, who was standing next to David.

Eddie raised his hand to push the glasses up his nose bridge before bending slightly forward and asking softly, “Sir…”

David suddenly looked up, his eyes dark and cold as ice. The slightest eye contact with him gave one the chills.

“Mr. Justin has finished reporting. He’s waiting for your instructions,” Eddie said.

After hearing his words, David finally returned to his senses and flipped through the documents in his hand. He said in a cold and deep voice, “The amounts in the budget are not marked clearly enough. Go to the finance department later and type out the breakdown of statements in detail.”

“Yes,” the department manager hurriedly agreed. He felt a great sense of relief as if he had been spared from death.

David didn’t say anything else afterward. Eddie couldn’t help but size him up.

David looked down, vaguely distracted.

His eyes rolled. He suddenly bent over to whisper in David’s ears, “Mr. Jones, Miss Grey’s resignation procedures should be almost completed. Do you need me to go check on it?”
