Billionaire’s Heir

Chapter twenty one- Drama queen

Marcus POV

Sun rays slipped into the room through the slightly parted curtains and fell directly on my face. I sizzled and stirred from the bed. I glanced at the bedside clock and it was a few minutes after seven in the morning.

I yawned and sighed, I had worked late in the night and went to bed at midnight. I wanted to clear up any pending work and emails because I didn’t want anything that would interrupt my dinner date with Myra. I took off my sleeping mask and wore my flip-flops that lay on the floor beside the bed and made my way to the bathroom, I took a quick brush and came out of the bathroom, I decided to call my secretary and notify her that I would be late to the office but I can’t seem to find my phone, I made my way downstairs to the lounge just maybe I left it there last night.

I walked into the lounge and noticed that I had forgotten to turn off the music, I turned it off and grabbed my phone from the table. I noticed I had missed calls from Mum and she even sent a text asking me to call that it was urgent.

I dialed the number of my secretary and immediately she picked up

” Good morning Sir.”

” Good morning, send a copy of my schedule for today in my email, I will check it later,” I ordered her and ended the call.

I walked into the dining room and picked up my cup of steaming brown coffee from the table. It was the number one rule I had made with my domestic staff, especially my chef. My coffee should be ready and on the table before I leave for the office.

I finished drinking the coffee and threw the empty cup inside the trash and went back to my room to call Mum. I got to my room and prayed silently hoping that she wasn’t calling because of Dad’s illness.

I dialed her line and she picked up immediately, without wasting time and I chuckled at her action.

” Marcus Lawson, what’s your problem?” she asked between sobbing

I was surprised at her action but one thing I know is that she only calls me by my full name when she’s angry. But why is she sobbing? I clenched my arms and tried to pacify her to find out the problem.

” What’s the problem, Mum? Why are you crying? Please talk to me, so sorry I missed your calls. I was sleeping and I left my phone in the lounge.” I explained

” What happened last night?” She asked

” Last night!” I tried to recall any of the incidents from yesterday but the only thing that flashed through my mind was the incident that happened in the club.

” Mum, nothing happened last night, okay? How’s Dad? I answered her

” What happened between you and Sheila?”

” Ohh! That!” I chuckled loudly and my mum hissed and told me she wasn’t playing and that I should better start explaining why I decided to treat her that way.

” Mum, she’s not my type of woman, and I can’t even imagine myself spending the rest of my life with her. No Mum, It won’t work between me and her.” I said in a serious tone

” Why do you always have an excuse for all the ladies I have arranged for you, or is there something you’re not telling me?

” Mum, you know I would never hide anything from you just that I have not seen that woman that appeals to me.” Except for Myra though I didn’t say it out loud.

” Are you trying to tell me that out of the twelve dates I have arranged for you, none of the ladies has captured your heart, Marcus? My instincts were right about you all this while. She started sobbing again this time around more loudly, I waited for her to calm down but it seems like I would wait forever if I don’t say anything.

” What’s the problem, mum, what are you thinking?” I asked, getting tired of her drama

” Why put me through all that trouble of getting a good girl for you, you should have just told me that you don’t swing that way.” She said in a disapproving tone

” Swing that way?” I don’t understand what you meant

” Like you’re not attracted to women.” She replied

“What! How could you say, such mum? I’m very much attracted to women.” I let out deep-throaty laughter, I know Mum is a drama queen but how could she think that I’m not attracted to women?

“Gosh! This woman always seems to amaze me. How can she come up with such an outrageous thought?

I sighed and cleared my voice and was about to speak but she cut me off saying

” Marcus, prove it to me, bring your girlfriend to the house, introduce her to us. I’m giving you till the end of the month to do that.” And she ended the call without saying goodbye.

” phew!” I’m glad that’s all over. I scratched my head and wondered how Dad coped with her dramas, I chuckled again remembering her words. I shook my head. The last thing I want is anything that would change my mood, not today.

I picked up my phone and made a Vip reservation at the restaurant for a romantic dinner. I want to make sure everything is perfect, it’s going to be a memorable night and I didn’t want to disappoint Myra. After making the reservation, I noticed a notification popped up on my phone, and opened it. It was an email from my secretary about my schedule.

” Meeting with the board members – 11:00 am

” Meeting with Daniel Patterson Company – 2:00 pm

” Inspecting of the new site corporation – 4:30 pm

Looking at my schedule for the day, I doubt if I would have the patience to go through it so I called back my secretary and she picked up immediately

” Hello, Sir.”

” Alyson, handle all my schedule for today, please I don’t think I would be coming to the office today.”

“And one more thing, I don’t want to be disturbed.”

” But Sir, The…….

” No but, Alyson, I’ll pay you double for this.” I ended the call.

I made my way out of the house, towards one of my cars in the parking lot. I pressed the key on the remote control of the GLK and the locks opened. I hopped in, and I decided to stop over in one of the beauty bars and have my hair trimmed and also do my facials before going over to the restaurants to inspect the deco.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
