Bittersweet Obsession

Chapter 17: The Torment

As Tamara tried to get away from Bella's grip, she was caught off guard by the quick, forceful tug. The force of it sent her stumbling forward, and for a moment, she was on the verge of losing her balance completely. The sudden violence from Bella added to the growing tension between them, and she felt a wave of anger and despair rise up inside her.

With her face flushed with anger as she struggled to keep her balance, she shot back, "That's enough, Bella! Let go of me!"

"Or what, Nerdara? Going to cry to your mommy?"

Vivian, who had been silent until now, chimed in, "Yeah, Nerdara, maybe you should run home to your mommy. She's the only one who can stand you." "You don't even have the brains to understand what real feelings are. So, why don't you go back to whatever hole you came out of?" Tamara shot back. Bella's anger increased as she said, "You're going to regret saying that. I'll make sure of it."

Everyone on the campus knew that Bella Ripperton, the youngest daughter of a very wealthy Ripperton family, was known for her striking beauty and commanding presence on campus. With her flowing, raven-black hair, piercing hazel eyes, and an air of confidence, she effortlessly attracted attention wherever she went.

She was well aware of her family's status and often used it to her advantage, considering herself the queen bee of the college. Despite her privileged background, she had a reputation for being ruthless and relentless when it came to achieving her goals.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Her fashion sense was impeccable, always dressed in the latest designer clothes that showcased her exquisite taste. Despite her intimidating look, there were layers to her that most people never saw, hidden beneath her tough facade. Tamara examined her with a complex blend of emotions in her eyes. "Are you trying to threaten me? Bella, you know, it's interesting. I've noticed your true colors that most people don't see. There is a soft side of you sometimes peeking out from behind that tough appearance. Maybe one day you won't feel the need to hide it, and everyone will see the real you."

Bella's face flushed with anger as she shot back, "You think you know me well? You don't know anything about me or my life. Keep your amateur psychoanalysis to yourself."

"Oh, Bella, you're so pathetic. Maybe you should write a book about your difficult life. I'm sure it would be a big success. But don't worry, I won't tell anyone. After all, who would believe that beneath that tough exterior, there's a fragile little girl just desperate for attention?"

"You think you're so clever? Keep playing the innocent, but remember, I know all your little secrets too," Bella retorted, her eyes blazed with anger. She grinned slyly and added, "Oh, I heard you used to have quite the thing for Henry, didn't you? Too bad he's not around to protect you anymore."

Tamara crossed her arms and said defiantly, "Well, you can speculate all you want, but you'll never truly understand the depth of my relationship with Henry. And unlike some people, I actually have a heart and don't take pleasure in others' pain."

With a hint of malice in her voice, Bella responded, "You can keep pretending, but I don't think you realize that Henry had his secrets. He wasn't the person you thought he was."

"And what makes you think you know Henry better than I do? You might want to focus on your own life for once instead of poking your nose into mine."

"You're quite the expert in moving on, aren't you? First Henry, and now you're cozying up to Aaron. It's like you can't stand being alone for a second. Ah, maybe you're even playing with two men's hearts, huh? That's your expertise, isn't it? I bet you were cozying up to Aaron while you were still with Henry. You can't be trusted."

Tamara remained surprisingly calm despite Bella's hurtful accusations. She knew that getting into an argument with Bella would only fuel the fire, so she took a deep breath and replied in a measured tone, "You know nothing, Bella. My relationship with Aaron is none of your business, and you're way out of line for making baseless accusations. Henry meant everything to me, and I won't let you tarnish the memory of him with your petty gossip." However, Bella wasn't convinced and responded with a snide tone, "Oh, I'm sure he's been a 'good friend' in more ways than one. But whatever you want to call it, it doesn't change the fact that you're playing with men's hearts like a pro."

"Yeah, we all know your type. Always pretending to be innocent while juggling guys like a pro. Henry was just one of your pawns," Vivian chimed in.

Bella couldn't resist making a rude remark as she sneered, "That ring he gave you, it's probably just a cheap trinket he found on the sidewalk. You must be desperate if you think it means anything. He was actually engaged to another girl." "Well, don't you want to know who the girl is?" Vivian remarked.

Bella took a step closer, locking eyes with Tamara, and with a sly grin, she declared, "I'm the girl who was engaged to him." Poking her forefinger at Tamara's chest, she added, "But it's all because of you that our bright plan got ruined. Henry... Henry died because of you."

"What are you talking about, Bella? Why are you saying that Henry's death is because of me?"

Bella scoffed and retorted with a mocking tone, "Oh, come on, Nerdara. Don't act so innocent. It's clear as day that your presence in Henry's life brought nothing but trouble and misery. You're such a bad omen to him. When you came into his life, things got worse."

Tamara locked her eyes onto Bella's with an intent gaze and ignored her cynical comment. "What's your intention here, Bella? Why do you always meddle in my business and throw these rude remarks?"

"Nerdara, you're always so clueless. I just enjoy watching you squirm. It's hilarious to see someone like you struggle and I just can't resist poking at someone as easy a target as you. But if you can't handle a little teasing, maybe you should stay out of the spotlight."

Vivian chimed in with a mischievous grin, "Yeah, it's like a free comedy show every day. It's quite entertaining, actually."

Tamara's gaze hardened as she locked eyes with the malicious duo. She didn't falter or show weakness; instead, her stare conveyed a quiet determination to stand her ground despite their cruel words.

"I don't care what rude things you say about me. And as for Henry, he was a wonderful person, and I'll always cherish the memories we had." With a final, resolute remark, Tamara said, "Well, enjoy your little entertainment while it lasts. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got better things to do than waste my time on you." And with that, she turned on her heel and quickly left, leaving Bella and Vivian behind.

As Tamara walked away, she felt a mixture of emotions churning within her. Anger at their constant taunts and rude remarks, frustration at having to deal with such negativity, but also a sense of determination to rise above it all.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, golden glow over the campus. She sauntered briskly, her footsteps resounding in the quiet late afternoon. The familiar path she took allowed her the solitude she needed to reflect on the events of the day. She couldn't help but think about Henry and the secrets he had kept from her. It weighed heavily on her mind, and she knew she needed to find answers.

Despite the challenges she faced, there was a glimmer of hope in her heart. She had her writing, her dreams, and the support of her friends like Aaron and Erica. As she made her way home, she vowed to keep moving forward, no matter how tough the journey might be.

Little did she know, as she lost in her thoughts, a dark figure was watching her every move. This mysterious presence moved quietly and skillfully blended in with its surroundings, making it almost impossible for her to notice.

The person who was following her kept a safe distance, trying not to raise suspicion. He was covered in darkness as he followed her every move. A few flashes of light from a lamp showed brief views of his figure, but his features remained hidden.

Tamara continued on her path, completely unaware that someone was watching her from a distance. She was too busy thinking about what had happened that day to notice the presence lurking behind her.
