Chapter 1399 The Mysterious Woman
Mallory also recalled it. "Ah... Rachel."
Josie smiled. At that time, she was almost discovered, but Arnold showed up to save her.
In the blink of an eye, so many years had passed. Things remained the same, but people had changed.
At the same time, at the top floor of Russell Group, the assistant stopped a woman hastily.
"Ms. Witherspoon, you really can't go in. Mr. Russell isn't receiving visitors!"
It was Juliette.
She looked weary, her face full of worry. "You've seen me before. You should know our relationship. I'm worried about him. Can't I see him for a moment?"
The assistant was in a difficult position. "Mr. Peeple instructed us..."
Juliette didn't listen at all. She pushed her way in, opening the door abruptly, startling the people inside.
In front of the floor-to-ceiling window, a man and a woman stood shoulder to shoulder. The man wore a white coat over a light white satin shirt, unbuttoned at the collar, exuding elegance and brightness. Gone were his past fierceness and brooding demeanor.
The woman was donned in a sapphire blue sweater, her figure impeccably accentuated by an A-line skirt. Her face was attractively refined and mature, a visage he had never encountered before. Both turned to look as Juliette had arrived untimely.
"Dexter."
"You have a guest, so I'll leave first," the woman said softly.
Dexter nodded slightly, instructing Larry, "Escort Ms. Quiroz out."
The woman passed by Juliette, leaving a soothing scent of sandalwood in her wake.
Juliette couldn't worry about all that now. She hurried forward. "Dexter, I just got back to Newcove and heard about the investigation against you. Are you okay?"
Her face was creased with worry.
Dexter casually picked up a document from the table, flipping through a page. "Did you go back to Newcove to see your father?" "Yes."NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
"How's he doing Did you send my regards?" Dexter asked cheerfully.
"This isn't important. I'm asking if you're okay. I was worried sick. Why didn't you tell someone to inform me? Leould have asked my father to intervene. You wouldn't have had to suffer like this for so long."
"It's not that bad, and I'm not that weak." Dexter smiled slightly. "Look at me now. I'm fine, aren't I?"
Juliette pursed her lips. "You've lost weight."
"That's enough. I'll be swamped recently and don't have time to talk to you. Go home and rest."
Juliette didn't move. "But..."
He flipped through a few more pages.
"That woman just now..."
Before she could finish, Larry walked in. "Ms. Witherspoon, please come with me."
Juliette had no more reasons to stay. Clutching her bag tightly, she walked to the elevator and dared to ask, "Mr. Peeple, the woman just now, I've never seen her. Is she a
client or..."
Larry also looked exhausted. As usual, he was strictly professional. "Ms. Witherspoon, it's best not to pry into Mr. Russell's private affairs." Juliette was taken aback.
Josie heard about this news the next day at Olsen Group.
Juliette had been away from Newcove for over ten days. As soon as she returned, she brought coffee to Josie for a chat. She sat in the lounge, sighing, "She isn't very pretty, but her demeanor is very elegant. She doesn't seem like an ordinary person."
Josie sorted through files nearby, suppressing the surge of emotions in her heart. "Maybe she's just a client."
"Doesn't seem like it. When I went in, the two were standing very close. It's definitely not a client relationship."
"A friend?"
"Dexter doesn't have many female friends, and I've never seen this one before." Juliette finished, exhaling heavily. "But, it's none of my business."
