Chapter 27: You Must Be Happy If I Die
Chapter 27: You Must Be Happy If I Die
Allison looked at her silently, unfazed by her sudden explosion.
“What’s worse? Lawrence is a public figure. He is involved for the litigant has his bank card and gets
interrogated by police because of this. Do you know how serious his reputation would be affected by
this?”
“I didn’t do what you were claiming!” Charlotte screamed at Allison without paying heed to her
explanation.
She looked at Lawrence with teary eyes as she said with cracking voice, “He’s not my man. Besides
you, I don’t hook up with another man. He is… He is…”
How would she be able to tell him the truth? How would she dare to tell him the truth?
“Who is he? Why do you stop talking?”
Lawrence inched towards her and spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear. He said this with
venom, “Charlotte, you make me feel even more sick that in the past.”
She felt something register in her heart, and she reached out subconsciously, wanting to hold his hand,
but she was being swatted away.
“Don’t touch me, dirty woman.”
Lawrence glanced at her coldly before turning to face Allison, “Ignore her.”
Allison nodded and settled herself naturally into his arms. Before she left, she eyed Charlotte
meaningfully.
“Miss Garcia, the man involved in the accident is still being rescued. We are not interested in his
identity. We just hope that you don’t do anything derogatory to Lawrence’s reputation.”
Charlotte watched them walking away, and there was a nauseating pain in her heart.
It seemed that God always liked joking her. Every time when she almost got out of the trouble, God
pulled her back!
However, Evelyn had only given her half a month time. She wouldn’t have any opportunity anymore…
Like a drowning person forced to the further recesses of the water, she longed for the last straw of
hope. Her mind replayed the words spoken by Victoria and Ethan.

“Sis, brother Lance will help you, go look for him, go now…”
She felt something went off in her brain as Charlotte clambered up from the ground and chased in the
direction where Lawrence had left.
After exiting the hospital, seeing that Lawrence had crossed the road, Charlotte gave chase without
thinking.
“Lawrence!”
Charlotte’s familiar voice sounded behind him.
Lawrence turned around instinctively and saw that she was running towards him without paying
attention to her surroundings. A fast-moving car was rapidly closing the distance between them…
“No!”
Lawrence suddenly howled as she pushed away Allison who was in his arms and ran towards
Charlotte rapidly. He was able to pull Charlotte into his embrace before the car had a chance to hit her.
When the two of them fell to the ground, a huge hand naturally guarded the back of her head as both of
them rolled to the side of the road.
After some dizziness, Lawrence seized her arm and pulled her to her feet violently.
“Charlotte, are you committing suicide? If you want to die, please die at some place I can’t see!”
The man’s unnatural wrath struck her hard like lightning.
Charlotte gaped at Lawrence and noticed the bulging veins on her forehead and her taut face. Within
his emotionless eyes, it seemed that there was a hint of… worry?
She felt her nose twitch sourly, “Wouldn’t you feel happy if I were dead?”
“…Get lost!”
Realizing that he had lost his composure, Lawrence pushed off Charlotte before turning around and
leaving.
However, Charlotte were clutching his sleeves.
“Lance, I have my own reasons for what happened all those years before. Truth is not the things as you
imagine.”
“Now, other than you, nobody can help me anymore. Give me some time, I will tell you the truth…”
“Ah…” Not far away, a shriek interrupted her words.
