Caught Between Them

Battered from battle

The psycho in front of me grinned as I charged for him, he sidestepped my sword slash, but Brock had taught me what to do. I feigned a thrust at his abdomen, as he lowered his sword to deflect my thrust, I stabbed his shoulder. He yelled out and backhanded me with inhuman strength sending me flying and crashing into the makeshift hut wall. He drew out my sword and threw it aside.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“I’ll kill you bitch” he roared and came at me, sword raised, I dodged the first strike then he sliced me across the shoulder and I yelled out in pain. Where the hell was Brock? I needed his strength right now, the rogue in front of me raised me up by the neck choking me. I hit his arms hard and kicked but the bastard seemed intent on killing me, I could feel myself losing air and I started to see stars, when I thought I was done, the hand abruptly left my throat, followed by an high pitched scream, I collapsed to the ground weakly and raised my head to see Brock grab the rogue werewolf and yelled out a battle cry and suddenly lightning dropped from the sky and struck the rogue werewolf, when everything cleared Brock was holding a charred skeleton which he flung away, he swayed on his feet then collapsed.

“Brock” I yelled and panic boosted my adrenaline and suddenly I got the strength to get up and run over to him, I grimaced when I saw the multiple stab wounds on his body. I had to pull his shirt to inspect the wound so I rested my hand on his abdomen about to take his shirt off when Brock tensed, I stared down to see my hand resting near his groin, I pulled them away and blushed.

“Can I take your shirt off?” I asked and he nodded, grimacing in pain. I pulled his shirt up and gasped when I saw the gaping wound in his abdomen.

“Oh God!” I cried and hurried inside to get medicines, the wound didn’t seem to be healing which Brock told me that werewolves do. “You aren’t healing” I pointed out and Brock held my hand tight.

“Don’t worry, leave me, leave this place. It’s not safe anymore, find another camp…” he said weakly and I held his hand tighter.

“Am not leaving you” I said and he shook his head.

“I’ll be a burden to you like this. Just…..”

“Shut up!!” I yelled and he quietened, “I am not leaving you, I know you know what to do so tell me before I decide to kill someone” I yelled and Brock chuckled weakly.

“Alright, kill me then” he smirked and I scowled at him, near tears.

“Please don’t die, please” I begged and he became serious.

“Alright, burn a torch” he said, his eyes turned yellow and I knew his wolf was battling death too, I did as he said and lit the piece of wood on fire.

“Now burn it” he said, his voice was gruff with his wolf.

“You said?” I stared at him like he was crazy, did he expect me to do that?

“It will kickstart the healing, now do it” his voice was barely human, I stilled my nerves and shoved the burning tip of the wood right on his wound. Brock roared out so loud the sound echoed that I was sure the whole world heard him, he kept roaring until it morphed into a bone chilling howl. I pulled back the wood and tossed it away and stared down at Brock in concern, he had quietened down and was breathing hard.

” I am so sorry,” I said feeling guilty and he shook his head.

“Not. Your. Fault” he said in between gasps and his eyes closed groggily and he fell asleep. I gathered some furs and put them under his head, to make a pillow. Then I started a fire and roasted the last goose we caught.

I heard movement behind and turned to see Brock stir in his sleep. I heard him mention my name but I wasn’t sure if he did mention my name, sighing. I settled down and ate my food quietly, glad I was eating after that fight. Brock sniffed and opened an eye to stare at me.

“Goose?” He asked and I nodded. I picked up his own food and he lifted his hand to hold the plate but I moved it away.

“I am feeding you” I said stubbornly and Brock’s eyes darkened, he looked angry.

“No!” Brock said firmly, I shrugged and as he opened his mouth to speak, I shoved a spoonful of hot broth into his mouth, he choked on it for a split second then chewed. He gave me a stare that told me I was in trouble.

“Better huh?” I asked and he grabbed the plate from my hands and scowled at me.

“Gather your things” he said in between mouthfuls. “We are leaving this damned place” he said and I grinned not moving an inch. He looked ridiculous eating and barking orders but when his dark green eyes bore into mine, I knew I couldn’t tease him for long, and there was something he didn’t know.

I was falling, falling for my alpha’s beta, how fucked up my life is.

I gathered the crudely made plates and put them in an animal skin bag, and helped Brock to his feet. I groaned as he leaned into me, he was very heavy. Brock noticed this and limped on his own.

“Where to now?” I asked and he stared ahead studying the landscape.

“There” he pointed to a spot far away and I stared at him like he was crazy.

“How are we gonna reach that, it’s like five hours to reach there. ” I asked and he smiled like a psycho.

“I know” he said and rested his hand on his sword hilt, “That’s our only hope of leaving this place, let just hope that we get there before those bastards does” with that he limped forward and I followed, wondering if my day could get any worse
