Chapter 2763
Chapter 2763
The night of the old town was silent. The air was filled with nothing but the humming of insects.
There was a lamp hanging outside of the tent on the grass. The atmosphere was quiet.
Daisie was tossing and turning in the sleeping bag as sleep just wouldn’t come to her. Suddenly, an arm appeared across her waist as she was brought into a chest. “What’s the matter? You can’t sleep?”
“Yeah…” She buried her head in his chest and said, “I want to go to take a leak, but I’m a little bit scared.”
Nollace kissed her forehead and said, “I’ll go with you then.”
Both of them came out of the tent. Nollace took a flashlight and led Daisie to a row of trees in the distance. Daisie turned her head and said, “You wait for me here.”
Nollace nodded. “Just shout my name if you need anything.”
She walked into the forest and stopped in front of a tree not far away from Nollace.
After she had done her business, she hastily got out of the forest and held tightly to Nollace’s arm. ” Alright, let’s go back.”
Nollace stretched his arm and wrapped it around her shoulders.
She raised her head and looked into the sky when they were back at the campsite. “Is that the Big Dipper?”
“Yeah, it is,” Nollace replied after lifting his head.
“It’s true that we can see the stars more clearly in the mountains and forests.” Daisie laughed.
“What are you guys doing in the middle of the night? Counting stars?” Cameron came out of her tent.
Daisie looked at her and asked, “You can’t sleep too?”
“Yeah, and it’s all because of your ghost stories,” Cameron said as she picked up the water bottle and
took a sip.
Daisie and Nollace looked at each other and chuckled. “We didn’t know that you’re scared of those.
things.”
Cameron looked around and said, “Look around you. We’re in a forest. It just gives me different vibes.”
Daisie picked up a bunch of grapes and said, “Don’t worry. If anything happens, my brother will protect
you.
After that, she went back into the tent with Nollace.
Cameron turned her head around and realized that they were gone. She looked around at the deep, silent darkness and shuddered.
She hastily put down the water bottle and went back into her tent too.
Waylon opened his eyes and looked at her as she hid under the blanket. “Cam, who’s that guy next to you?”
“Argh!”
Cameron threw herself into his arms and accidentally rammed her head into his chin.
Waylon winced out in pain. He lowered his head to look at the woman in his arms and let out a laugh. He stretched his arms and grabbed her tightly in his embrace. “Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. Let’s Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
sleep.”
“You! How could you make fun of me like that, you b*stard!?” Cameron snarled as she smacked his chest.
He laughed and replied, “Don’t worry I’ll be here with you. Just sleep.”
The next morning, Freyja told Daisie that she heard a woman shouting last night and thought she had a
dream.
Daisie turned her head around to look at Cameron and chuckled. “I’m pretty sure it’s Wayne who scared Cam last night.”
Freyja was stunned. Understanding soon dawned on her as she said, “I see. So she was scared of the ghost stories we shared last night.”
She had assumed it would be Daisie who would be scared.
Daisie frowned. “Don’t tell me that you thought it was me?”
Freyja just replied with a smile.
Waylon carried the breakfast to Cameron.
Cameron ignored him, and he squatted in front of her. “You’re still mad at me?”
She harrumphed and turned her face sideways.
“It was my fault last night. I shouldn’t have scared you. Please forgive me,” Waylon said as she caressed her cheek. However, he still couldn’t stop himself from giggling.
Cameron took over the breakfast and said, “You can scare me for all you want. I’m sure you’ll regret it when we go back later.”
Waylon shook his head helplessly. It seemed to him that it would take some time before Cameron forgave him.
In the afternoon, they left and returned to the town.
The town had many visitors, and the streets and alleys were bustling with activity. Three women strolled through the stores with three men walking behind them with their hands full of the stuff they bought. When Daisie saw the ring-tossing game, she walked over and said, “I want to try this one.”
