Chapter 1290
In the evaluation room, the atmosphere was buzzing. Corbyn and a bunch of higher-ups were all gathered around Flora, chatting with her, their expressions almost fawning.
Tara wasn't taken aback by Corbyn's special treatment of Flora-she knew he had a soft spot for her-but what about the other elders? Even Scott, who was usually so high and mighty, often ignoring Corbyn himself, was now circling Flora, rubbing his hands together and grinning like a Cheshire cat. How could he not? They were all eager for Flora to spill her medical secrets. Tara felt a chill settle over her as she stood at the doorway for what felt like an eternity, a full three minutes, and not a soul noticed her. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she gently cleared her throat.
"Tara, there you are! Come on in!" Corbyn called out, waving her over with enthusiasm.
"Master," Tara replied, making her way over, her eyes flickering ever so briefly towards Flora.
"My dear, you haven't met Tara yet, have you?" Corbyn said, introducing his star pupil to Flora. "This is my apprentice Tara, quite the talent. Tara, meet Flora, my newly recognized sister. Though you're about the same age, in terms of seniority, you should call her 'Aunt'." Tara was momentarily speechless. Aunt???
Forcing a smile, she said, "Master, since Ms. Flora and I are the same age, let's skip the formalities and stick to first names. Besides, we've already crossed paths."
Flora's gaze was icy as it skimmed over her, not a word escaping her lips.
"Okay, okay, whatever makes you comfortable." Corbyn chuckled, clearly unfazed by titles.
"Master, I spotted Sydney earlier..." Tara hesitated, unsure if she should continue.
"Don't even mention her!" Corbyn's face darkened with anger. "She had the nerve to use Flora's medical recipe
the evaluation, trying to et
pass it off as her own. If Flora Kadn't
been here, she might have pulled it
off
Tara's heart skipped a beat. So, the recipe was Flora's... No wonder Sydney was kicked out so harshly.
"While you're here, I've got an announcement. Spread the word for me," Corbyn said. "I've decided to induct Flora into the Medical Hall as an elder. Let all the disciples know so they can brace themselves."NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
Flora, an elder in the Medical Hall? Tara could hardly believe it. Had her master gone mad? The Medical Hall had nine elders, each a legend in the medical field. What made Flora deserving of such a title? It was absolutely ludicrous!
Though shocked, Tara kept her composure. She knew Corbyn was quite fond of Flora now and couldn't criticize her in front of him.
"Ms. Flora, you're truly remarkable, becoming an elder at such a young age. I've got so much to learn from you!" she said with a smile, then turned to the senior executives. "What do the elders think?" Surely, they wouldn't agree with such an outlandish decision, right? But to her dismay, they all nodded in agreement.
Their dissent would've been
pointless anyway. They'd all witnessed Corbyn's blatant
favoritism towards Flora, and no et
matter what they said, Corbyn
wouldn't budge. Besides, Flora had just demonstrated her impressive capabilities.
So young, yet with such profound medical expertise her potential was limitless. A talent like hers was one the Medical Hall couldn't afford to lose. An elder's position? She was more than ready to fill it. "We think it's a splendid idea, truly splendid," they echoed.
