Chapter 776 There's Someone Behind You

Cindy pressed her lips together. Patrick said he hated her, but his actions told a different story. The next second, Patrick turned his head and kissed her.

The sudden change made Cindy instinctively want to pull away, but the more she struggled, the tighter she was held.

Cindy felt Patrick's gentle pecks on her lips, causing her face and neck to flush red.

In the dressing room, Ulysses was holding it in.

He desperately needed to use the bathroom, but if he went out now, he would definitely interrupt Patrick's moment and would surely face Patrick's revenge later.

But he really couldn't hold it any longer.

He secretly pried open a crack in the door and saw the two kissing passionately. He slipped out sideways, hoping to sneak out while they were too engrossed.

Cindy half-closed her eyes and suddenly made eye contact with Ulysses in the dark. She shivered all over and instantly sobered up.

She pulled her head back, and Patrick missed the kiss. Dissatisfied, Patrick pulled Cindy back to continue kissing, but ended up kissing the back of her hand.

Cindy covered her mouth and whispered, "Patrick, there's someone behind you."

Patrick squinted his eyes and reached to pull Cindy's hand away. "I don't believe you. Stop trying to fool me."

"I'm not fooling you. There's really someone behind you," Cindy said anxiously. She didn't have a habit of making out in public. "If you don't believe me, look back yourself."

Patrick impatiently turned his head and met Ulysses' worried face.

"What are you doing?" Patrick asked irritably.

Ulysses clutched his stomach. "Patrick, my stomach hurts. I need to go to the bathroom. You guys continue; I didn't see anything."

With that, he darted out of the dressing room.

Cindy took the opportunity to get off the ground and escape Patrick's embrace. She kept her distance, watching him warily and defensively.

Patrick glanced at her but said nothing. He lay back on the sofa and closed his eyes for a nap.

Seeing him act as if nothing had happened, Cindy angrily wiped her lips and fumed silently.

Phoebe had been sleepless all night. Before dawn, she called Keith to come and pick them up.

She changed into her clothes, packed Ethan's things, left a note on the bedside table, and carried Ethan out the door.

The surroundings were quiet, and a black sedan was parked outside the villa, with the area looking devastated.

As soon as Phoebe stepped out, Keith got out of the car, walked quickly to her, and took Ethan from her, placing him in the back seat.

After the sandstorm, the temperature dropped sharply.

Phoebe quickly got into the car, shivering from the cold. She rubbed her arms. "It's really cold today."noveldrama

Keith got into the car and slowly drove away. The headlights revealed the mess everywhere, showing the power of yesterday's sandstorm.

Phoebe had been scrolling through Facebook last night when she couldn't sleep. The sandstorm had caused a significant impact.

"There's a blanket in the car. Wrap yourself up; it'll be warmer," Keith said. "Yesterday, when you suddenly disappeared with Ethan, we were worried for a long time."

"Ran into an old acquaintance," Phoebe said briefly, not offering much of an explanation.

Phoebe turned to look out the window. The car was slowly leaving the villa. The streetlights were dim, and she felt as if someone was standing behind the curtains on the second floor, watching her leave.

Startled, Phoebe tried to get a clearer look, but the car had already left the villa far behind, speeding away.

Behind the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor, Theodore stood in the dark, watching Phoebe leave with the child. A man was there to pick her up.

Judging by his figure, Theodore didn't recognize him. It wasn't Edward or Milton.

He had underestimated Phoebe. She had quickly attracted another man's attention, which explained why she had refused his proposal last night.

He gritted his teeth, turned, and walked out of the bedroom, heading to the guest

room.

The guest room was meticulously tidy, as if no one had ever stayed there. He stood by the bed for a long time, about to leave when he saw a note on the bedside table.

He walked over, bent down, and picked up the note. The handwriting was neat and elegant, Phoebe's handwriting.

[Mr. Reynolds, thank you for your hospitality!]

Polite yet distant.

He clenched the note tightly, crumpling it into a ball, and threw it into the trash can before striding out.

After the sandstorm, various departments were organizing rescue efforts. Phoebe received a call from Edward while on her way back to the city.

The highway was jammed with a long line of cars, barely moving.

The four kids were restless in the car, clamoring to get out. Phoebe's head was pounding, but she didn't dare let them out.

"Phoebe, I hear the kids crying. Where are you?" Edward's voice was gentle, full of

concern.

Phoebe rubbed her aching head. "On the way back to the city. I took the kids to the eco-park yesterday, but we got caught in the sandstorm and were stuck there overnight."

"I saw the news. Are you all okay? I hate that I'm out of the country and not there with you," Edward said, full of guilt.

"We're fine, don't worry. The kids are crying, I have to go," Phoebe said hurriedly, hanging up the phone. She looked out the window at the endless line of cars and sighed helplessly.

She tried reasoning with them. "How about we watch some cartoons? It's too dangerous outside."

"No, I don't want to watch cartoons!" Noomi, with tears in her eyes, insisted on getting out of the car.

Phoebe had no choice but to say, "Okay, we'll get out for two minutes, and then we'll get back in, alright?"

Noomi didn't have a concept of time, only knowing that Phoebe had agreed to let her out. She nodded.

Phoebe got out of the car with her. The air outside was fresh, and the wind was cool. She held Noomi in her arms to shield her from the wind.

"Mommy, so many cars."

Phoebe looked in the direction Noomi was pointing. The highway was packed with cars, with no end in sight.

Stuck in traffic, even adults were getting irritable, let alone children.

After a few minutes outside, Phoebe was about to get back in the car with Noomi when she noticed a silver-gray Maybach parked not far behind them.

Inside the car, Jack, with sharp eyes, pointed at Phoebe getting into the car and said, "Mr. Reynolds, isn't that Ms. Ziegler? What a coincidence, running into her even in a traffic jam."

Theodore, who had been resting with his eyes closed, opened his hawk-like eyes at the words and stared straight ahead at the business car not far away.

At the end of his gaze, Phoebe was holding a child. From the hair, it wasn't Ethan but the little girl from the triplets.
