CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
‘How do you court a girl?’ ‘
‘How do you court a woman?’
‘How do you make a lady fall in love with you?
Nothing but There is only one answer.
‘Demonstrate your desire to marry her.’
Useless google! But how am I going to get her? What’s the point of expressing my desire to marry her now that we’re married?
“Damn,” I grumbled. What exactly is the role of a suitor? Nevermind. I’ll woo her in my own unique manner, the Phoenix way.
“Phoenix?” I turned to Hailey and put the cellphone back in my pocket. I was sitting on the balcony, waiting for sleepiness to take effect on me.
“Hmp?”
“I’m heading to bed, so I’m just wondering if you need anything else?”
“You.”
“Phoenix.”
“You are, you are what I need.”
“Hey, stop it.” I could see her blushing even though it was a little dark. That’s how you woo. “If you don’t need anything more, I’m going inside.”
“You’re the one I want to go inside.” I don’t need that goddamn Google to court, my wife. I have my own ways of making her fall in love with me.
“I’m coming in-” She didn’t finish what she was about to say as I yanked her over and had her sit on my lap.
My shaft stiffened instantly, and I knew she sensed it.
“Just seeing you wakes my pet,” I said as I kissed her shoulder and watched her shut her eyes.
“Phoenix, I’m having my period.”
“Damn!”
“Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine,” I said as I stroked her shoulder.
“Don’t do that, Phoenix, my menstruation is growing stronger.”
“Why?” I asked. Why is her blood flow intensifying? I’m just caressing her.
“Just because—- Let me go or I might get my period on your shorts.”
“How come you’re so beautiful?”
“Huh?”
“Are you really a human or an angel who fell to the ground?”
I really won’t get tired of kissing her, anytime, anywhere.
“Phoenix, stop.”
“Teach me how to stop.”
“I’m going to sleep.”
“Let’s go to our room.” We haven’t been in the same room together since we moved in. But that’s okay since I know I’ll be able to be with her again eventually. Not only as a spouse on paper but as a husband who adores her. Our maids don’t bother to inquire as to why we don’t share a room.
“I don’t want to sleep with you,” she stated flatly.
“Why?”
“Because you don’t know anything else but to kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss me even more.” I chuckled and kissed her on the lips.
“I’m your husband, therefore I can kiss you whenever I want.”
“But I haven’t even responded to you yet.”
“I’m confident you’ll respond to my courtship eventually.”
“Phoenix,” she reprimanded as I stroked her breast and prepared to rise up, but I drew her in closer. “My period is getting stronger. If you don’t stop, I’ll take off my napkin and put it on your face.” I laughed again.
“It’s all right, I eat bloody food.”
“You truly are disgusting!” She smacked my chest as a result of what I said. “Phoenix,”
“Hmp?” She inhaled deeply.
“Nothing, I’m just drowsy.”
“Can you stay for a while?” I hugged her and took my phone.
“Phoenix,”
“Damn, I know I’m a cliche, but can we listen to this song before we go to bed?”
“Which song?”
“I just heard it earlier, and I remember you,” I say as I play the song for her, hugging her and listening together.
“You turned me inside out
And you showed me what life was about
Only you
The only one that stole my heart away
I wanna do all I can just to show you
Make you understand
Only you
The only one that stole my heart away”
I stared towards Hailey as the song ended.
“Hailey, I don’t know how to woo, court, or beg you. I don’t know how to be nice or how to make you realize that what I need is you, that what I want is you. All I know is that I want to spend my entire life with you till I die with you.”
“Phoenix,”
“I won’t push you right now. Instead, I’ll wait until you’re ready, and when that moment comes, I’ll make sure you don’t regret coming back to me. In any case, you’re not lost, and I won’t allow that happen either.”
“All I want is for you to be happy, Phoenix.”
“You are my happiness, Hailey. I can’t ask for anything as long as you’re by my side.” She no longer answered. I kissed her on the forehead.
“Come on, let’s get in, it’s freezing here,” I said as we walked together inside. I brought her to her room, but before she could enter, I walked inside and drew her in.
“Hey!” she said as I hugged her and closed the door. “Phoenix!”
“I’ll never grow tired of holding and loving you, Hailey,” I said as I kissed her passionately, and she kissed me back. We both gasped as we kissed goodbye.
“Please, Phoenix, stop,” she whispered as I stroked her shoulder.
“Why?”
“My period is getting stronger,” she said, and I frowned.
“What’s the connection?” She did not answer and averted her gaze. “Hey?”
She reddened as she responded, “I enjoy what you’re doing.”
“What do you mean?”
“Hmp! I don’t know, Phoenix. Get out!” I chuckled as I realized what I was doing was affecting her.
“You’re not alone, Hailey. I, too, am impacted.”
“I can’t,” she scolded.
“So, when there is no period, can I?”
“Neither,”
“If you say so,” I chuckled. “Hailey,”
“What’s the is it?” Why is she so adorable when she frowns?
“Can, you call me Nix?” She used to call me Nix when we were young. That’s why I don’t want anybody else to call me Nix because it makes me think of her.

“Call me, Nix.”
“But didn’t you want me to call you Nix before?”
“I’ve changed my mind. So, would you?”
“All right, N-nix.” Damn! Why is it so immensely seductive when she speaks my name?
“All right, go to sleep,” I said as I kissed her forehead and walked out the door. But I came to a halt and looked at her.
“Do you need anything else?”
“Hailey, you’re the only one I need.”
“Nix?”
“I mean it, Goodnight.” I give her a smack before leaving.
