Chapter 260
Dillon felt a twinge in his heart and awkwardly tugged at his lip. "Are you talking about your wife? She hasn't come to see you..."
"She is such a heartless woman," Casper thought. She no longer loved him, which explained her cold and ruthless behavior. "It's okay, I don't blame her."
"She nearly stabbed you to death, and you don't blame her?" Dillon couldn't hold back. "From what I see, the chance of you and your wife reconciling is as likely as Mars crashing into Earth. Maybe you should just give up on her. After all, she's remarried and has a kid now..." Casper's frown deepened. "Since when is it your place to give me advice? One more word, and you're out of here."
Dillon didn't want to push it further. But he couldn't help thinking that Eliza's indifference was probably even more serious than Casper realized. If she had any feelings left for him, she wouldn't have faked her own death to escape, let alone remarry and have children. Why did she marry an old man? That was a clear statement that Casper was even less desirable than an elderly gentleman.
"I'm just trying to say, don't risk your life hoping for her forgiveness. If she doesn't forgive you and you die, she might actually be happy."
"Stop aggravating me; I'm not going to die from this," Casper said, annoyed. "Get me a glass of water."
"Sure thing." Dillon handed the glass to him.
"Knock, knock."
Suddenly, the knock on the hospital room door interrupted their conversation. Dillon stood up to open the door, and upon seeing the visitor, he was stunned. "You..."
"What, am I not welcome?" Eliza stood at the doorway, her expression cold and aloof.
Dillon quickly bowed respectfully. "Please, come in."Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
He stepped aside to let Eliza enter, then exited the room, closing the door behind him to give them some privacy.
Eliza walked into the room, her gaze landing on the somewhat pale Casper lying in the bed. She treated him like he were a stranger. "Don't get it twisted; I'm not here to visit you just have something to ask, and then I'll leave." Conte belongs
"What do you want to ask?" Casper's mood seemed to lift, his eyes smiling. "Ask away."
Eliza hesitated. "Dillon mentioned that you just found out my father is alive. So, where has he been all this time?"
He didn't answer right away, instead proposing a condition. "Let's exchange questions. I'll answer one of yours, and you answer one of mine."
"Casper, when will you stop being so despicable?" She regretted coming to ask him now.
"Is that despicable?" He propped himself up from the bed, staring intently into her eyes. "This is called a fair exchange."
"Mr. Casper, you really don't like
being at a disadvantage," she said, believing some truths would eventually come to light. "I guess shouldn't have had illusions about you. If that's the case, there's no need for me to ask anything.
She turned to leave, but he quickly reached out to stop her. "Hey, don't go..."
"Are you going to answer or not?" She didn't have much patience left for him; she could find the answers herself.
"Okay, okay" He had no other choice; he was a bit scared of her getting angry. "Your father has been living in Crescent Creek for nearly five years."
Crescent Creek? Her family had no
relatives there. Why would he goto Crescent Creek? Could it be that he didn't want to see his family? She dn't w
had too many questions and wanted answers.
"I want to see him," Eliza said, her gaze fixed on Casper.
Casper slightly raised the corners of his mouth, revealing a mocking smile. "If I refuse, would you get so angry that you'd attack me right here in this room?"
