Chapter 102
Infertility
Patrick stopped before her and stared at her with a faint smile. "Lauren, I came here to find you. I have asked you out many times recently, but you always said that you were busy. You reject my pursuit and even don't want me to be your friend?"
Lauren smiled, "Don't be silly. People will misunderstand you. You are the eldest child of the Hastings family. How can anyone reject you?"
"Lauren, you are always like this. You rejected me before, and now, you please me. How can I bear to get over you?"
Patrick smiled, but his eyes never moved away from Lauren's face.
He looked handsome, but there was evil inside him. He was also shrewd and calculating.
Lauren maintained a smile. She cleverly changed the subject and asked, "Patrick, can I help you with anything?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to see if you were okay. I'm a little worried about you."
He meant something, and Lauren understood it immediately.
Her eyes were red, and a smile disappeared from her pretty face. Lauren looked upset, which made people feel sorry for her. She said in a low voice, "I'm fine. Really."Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Patrick said, "Benjamin is embarrassing you by doing this. Lauren, do you insist on staying with him? He has promised Felix and Larry that he will not divorce Harper, and he even plans to have a child." "He just plans to have a baby, and it doesn't mean Harper is pregnant, right?"
Lauren grasped the key point and had an idea the next second.
But she didn't show it at all. She just pressed her lips slightly and said in a low voice, "Patrick, I know you are doing it for my good, and I also know it is because of me that you and Benjamin fell out. It's all my fault."
Lauren burst into tears as she
spoke. Patrick quickly comforted
her. "Lauren, how can I blame you? If it's anyone's fault, it would be mine. I met you too late. Otherwise, would have been with you now."
Lauren pressed her lips and said nothing. She was sobbing, which broke Patrick's heart. He couldn't bear the damage to her image, so he had no choice but to leave reluctantly.
Lauren also returned to the car in the parking lot, and she had calmed down.
She got in the car and dialed a number. "Harper, we need to talk. I thought about it, and I think there are some things that you should know."
Harper said, "Do you think we must
talk? If you want to argue with me about our open marriage or warn me that he doesn't love me but you, there will be no need. You don't have to tell me that. And you should go find Benjamin."
Harper was not interested at all in what Lauren was thinking about.
Lauren asked, "Harper, are you afraid?"
"You don't need to provoke me. It's useless. What you have to say has nothing to do with me. I don't want to know, nor do I want to hear."
Just as Harper was about to hang up the phone, Lauren said emotionally, "Harper, I could never get pregnant because of Benjamin. Benjamin never told you, right?"
Harper paused while hanging up the phone.
She was stunned, and her eyes were dull.
Lauren could never get pregnant because of Benjamin?
Harper's eyes were full of shock, but her voice was very calm. "So, what does it have to do with me?"
"Don't you know that Benjamin plans to let you have a child?" Lauren asked tentatively.
