Chapter 117
Who's Inside Her Heart?
Harper's words hit Benjamin as a bomb dropped out of nowhere during peacetime.
It was as if a thunderous explosion had left him stunned.
Benjamin's gaze exuded a chilling aura as he said, "I'll consider these words as a result of your bad mood, but this is the only time I'll hear them."
"I'm not in a bad mood. These are my thoughts, something I should have told you the night we returned to the Martin Manor. I've already discussed it with your grandpa, and he supports my decision. Haven't you been hoping for a separation? Once we're apart, you can be with Lauren, isn't that what you've always wanted?"NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
Harper directly dismissed Benjamin's words. If it was just a moment of bad mood, she wouldn't treat divorce as a joke or a way to lift her spirits.
Harper's seriousness added an extra layer of gravity to the atmosphere. Julie, in a state of extreme tension, gently tugged at Harper's sleeve several times but received no response.
Benjamin wore a sardonic smile as he fixed his gaze directly on her. "Now you want to grant me this? Then where were you a year ago? Weren't you obediently following the wishes of both our grandfathers? Harper, do you have to be so hypocritical?"
Harper was stunned. Although she still looked at him without blinking or avoiding eye contact, there were apparent emotional fluctuations in her gaze.
Before Harper could respond, he added, "Harper, the fate of this marriage has never been solely in your hands."
Then Benjamin turned and walked away.
Watching his retreating figure, Harper remained silent for a long time.
Julie, also furrowing her brows, then spoke to console. "Harper, you don't need to take Benjamin's words to heart. He's always been domineering like this."
"Yeah, I know. I'm fine," Harper
maintained her composure, saying, "Let's go, let's take a stroll. I want to go back early to rest for a while. It's rare for me to take half a day off, so I want to pamper myself."
Julie glanced at Harper, ensuring that she was truly fine, before saying nothing more.
After leaving the hospital, instead of going to see Lauren directly, Benjamin had Curtis accompany her. He instructed, "Make sure the therapist records all of her reactions. I want to know every word she says."
"I understand."
Then Benjamin turned off his phone, not wanting to be disturbed any further.
However, when Curtis arrived at Lauren's apartment and explained his purpose, Lauren refused. "I don't want you. I want Benjamin to accompany me, he promised me."
Curtis respectfully replied, "Ms. Davis, Mr. Martin has other matters to attend to, so he may not be able to accompany you. Mr. Martin asked me to escort you there and back."
"I said I don't need it, can't you
understand?" Lauren's tone was not

friendly, laced with a hint of anger and indifference. "You're just Benjamin's secretary, don't forget your position."
With that, Lauren slammed the door shut.
Curtis remained expressionless, furrowing his brow. Then after a moment's gaze at the closed door, he left the apartment.
Lauren immediately called Benjamin but was met with a voice informing her that his phone was switched off.
Her mood instantly turned gloomy. Lauren then slammed her phone onto the bed. Tightly pressing her lips, she muttered, "It must be Harper's doing, she's clinging to Benjamin."
