I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 136

What Happened?

"What happened? Is it about the girls who were interested in him?" Harper wondered.

Harper stayed cool and collected, showing almost no emotion.

Her response was just as calm. "So what if I noticed? What can I do about it? I can't control what others think. It's normal for us to admire another person, isn't it?" Her words added to his fury, making him feel like he could snap at any moment.

His face darkened, and his voice turned cold. "So as my wife, you don't react when someone asks for my contact info and gossips about you right in front of you?" Harper chuckled.

She shot back. "Benjamin, what do you want me to do? Confront them or warn them to back off?"NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

She felt helpless. Those girls didn't even know if he was married. They just noticed his looks and admired him, but once they knew the truth, they left.

She couldn't understand why Benjamin suddenly had these thoughts. After all, Lauren had been interested in him for a while, but he never encouraged Harper to do anything about it. Benjamin seemed unhappy about the situation, but his hand remained on Harper's waist.

Such closeness made Harper uncomfortable.

It was their first trip to the supermarket together since getting married. Despite their impending divorce, they were doing things they hadn't done during their whole first year of marriage. Looking back, since he brought up divorce, they'd actually been spending more time together and interacting more.

Harper found it funny.

She wondered what Benjamin was trying to do.

He was the one who wanted a divorce, but now he seemed unwilling to push through it.

"Is it because he hadn't fulfill his promise to Lauren about having a child of their own?" she wondered.

The thought hurt Harper deeply.

But she kept her cool, continuing to browse the fruit section with him, buying some high-vitamin fruits before heading to the checkout counter.

A moment later, the cashier said to Benjamin, "Hello sir, it's 299 dollars in total."

Benjamin frowned, glancing at Harper.

Harper quickly pulled out her phone and said, "I'll be paying."

"

"Got it. I see that the lady's the one controlling the money at home," the cashier chuckled. She was surprised to see such an attractive couple. Being good-looking was one thing, but being under a wife's thumb was another, making the cashier think, "Indeed, beautiful women are powerful."

After paying, the cashier handed them shopping bags and commented, "These are heavy. I assume the gentleman wouldn't want the lady to carry them herself?"

Benjamin remained silent, and Harper didn't expect him to help. After all, his hands were only used to sign billion-dollar contracts in his office.

As Harper reached for the shopping bags, a strong hand had already picked them up.

Harper paused, then followed him out of the supermarket.

The sight of them prompted the cashier and her colleagues to sigh softly, "Who wouldn't want such a boyfriend?"

...

When they got back to the apartment, it was already nearly nine o'clock.

Benjamin checked the time and suddenly looked displeased. "Have you been going out for walks this late every day since you moved out?"
