Chapter 143
Lily to the Rescue
Curtis nodded. "Alright, I'll check right away."
With that, Curtis prepared to leave the office.
Benjamin said again, "What's up with Lauren?"Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Curtis hesitated for a moment, then quickly explained, "She asked when you could accompany her to see her psychologist. I told her you were in a meeting and couldn't take calls, so anything urgent would have to wait until you're available."
Benjamin remained expressionless, his voice low and hoarse as he responded, "Okay."
Curtis glanced at him, then heard him ask, "Did you call my mom?"
"I did, but she said..."
"What?"
"She said you should handle your own wife by yourself." Curtis risked his career and passed on the message.
Benjamin's gaze turned cold, his eyes narrowing slightly as he remained silent for a long while.
Curtis quickly retreated, leaving Benjamin alone in the expansive meeting room.
He was haunted by Harper's resolute and non-negotiable stance, along with her cold, piercing words. He had never known her to be so ruthless and realized her usual docile demeanor was merely an act. As he thought about this, his handsome face became gloomy, his thin lips pressed tightly together, and his features taut as a bowstring, as if he might snap in the next moment.
He sat alone in the meeting room for a long time until Curtis knocked on the door to report some work.
...
After the call with Benjamin was disconnected, Harper remained silent for a long time before finally starting to work.
However, not long after she began, her phone rang again.
She furrowed her brow and quickly answered when she saw the name on the screen. "Hey Lily."
"Harper, are you busy?"
"Not really. Is there something you need?"
"You haven't been back to the Martin Manor these past few days. Paul is worried about you, so he asked me to invite you for lunch, just the two of us."
Harper glanced at the time and replied, "Sure, what would you like to eat? I'll book a place."
"We're family, so you don't need to be so polite. I'll wait for you downstairs at your company. Come down after you're done, and then we'll go for lunch and some shopping?" Harper frowned slightly, feeling a bit helpless, but mostly happy.
Because Lily was truly kind to her.
She was the mother Harper had always wanted.
Of course, Harper couldn't let Lily wait downstairs, so she immediately asked Sophia to bring her up.
Lily probably came prepared, knowing that Harper wouldn't want her to wait, so she brought cake and coffee, both popular and delicious recommendations by the influencers.
As Harper's staff were all young people, they were naturally delighted by such treats and they thanked Lily profusely. "Thank you, Mrs. Lily Martin."
"You can call drop the formalities and call me Lily. And I want to thank you all for your cooperation and dedication to Harper. You've worked hard."
Lily was particularly understanding and down-to-earth, making everyone like her even more.
Then Sophia led her to Harper's office. As they passed Frank's office, Lily glanced at him, and although his eyes seemed distant and unfriendly, she still politely smiled and nodded. She whispered, "Who's that?"
Following her gaze, Sophia explained, "That's Mr. Parker. He's a good friend of Ms. Mitchell, and they co-founded the company together."
