Chapter 164
The Mysterious Lady
Sophia thought for a moment, then said, "Couldn't see her face. She was all masked up and wearing a hat. But her eyes? Pretty captivating. And you know what? Her voice rang a bell. Wonder if she's from one of our client companies or something."
"You're quite curious, aren't you?"
"Ms. Mitchell, do you know something? Can you tell me? I swear I won't spill a word." Sophia's eyes widened with excitement.
Harper's expression changed slightly, and she spoke calmly. "Since you're so curious, why don't you wait for Frank to come back later and ask him?"
"Is that cool?" Sophia took her words seriously.
Harper chuckled, "Enough chit-chat. Get back to your grind, or your paycheck's taking a hit for being nosy."
Sophia zipped her lips, taking the hint, and hurried back to her tasks.
Watching her go, Harper couldn't help but grin. It seemed like the fog in her mind was lifting.
But curiosity still nibbled at her. Who was that mysterious woman with the familiar voice?
"Is it really a client?"
Shaking her head, Harper couldn't figure it out. Regardless, she felt a twinge of joy knowing Frank was expanding his social circle.
After downing her milk, Harper dove into reorganizing the project materials. From conception to pause, it had devoured over five hundred sheets, each meticulously crafted. Every step was etched into her memory.
"Is this really the end?"
While Harper was lost in thought, her phone pinged with a new message.
After she read it, a genuine smile played on her lips, even reflecting in her eyes as she quickly tapped out a reply.
Just then, the office door creaked open, and Frank strolled in, catching her in the act. "What's got you all smiles?" he asked.
Glancing up at him, Harper replied, "Just chatting with a friend."
Frank took a seat nearby and handed her coffee with a smile. "Your favorite."
"Thanks," she replied, taking it but not yet sipping, her gaze now focused on him. "I saw you downstairs at the café earlier. Is that lady a friend?"
Frank's expression tightened momentarily, a flicker of surprise crossing his face before he composed himself. "You saw her? She's just someone I know, nothing more."
"Why the nerves, then? I didn't see her face, just her back. Sophia mentioned she was pretty. Do I know her?" She pressed, holding her chin, a playful smile on her lips.
Relaxing his posture, Frank flashed a gentle smile. "I'm not nervous. I just didn't want any misunderstandings."NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
"Fair enough." She nodded, continuing, "So, who is she? Do I know her?"
She held his gaze, waiting for his response.
