I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 166

Bumped into Him

"Harper, I've missed you every single day!" Annie replied with a low chuckle.

They'd been best friends since high school, and that hadn't changed a bit.

Hand in hand, they walked to the parking lot. Once in the car, Harper said, "Let's grab a bite first. I've ordered your favorite dishes." "Sounds good. You're the boss." She nodded, playing along.NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.

Harper just smiled and didn't say anything. Despite Annie's seemingly docile appearance, she was rebellious and mischievous at heart.

Arriving at the restaurant, unable to book a private room, Harper settled for a table by the window. As they waited for their food, Annie raised an eyebrow. "It's been over a year, but you seem different somehow."

"What's different?"

"Can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's just been too long. Anyway, I plan to stick around and work on our friendship during this time."

Harper chuckled, "Alright, but you better not ghost me later."

"Hmph, don't you dare underestimate me."

They exchanged a knowing glance and chuckled.

Before long, their food arrived, and they began to eat, chatting about the dishes and catching up on recent events in their lives. Despite not having seen each other for over a year, they had managed to keep in touch.

Suddenly, Annie asked, "Would it be weird if I crashed at your place? You're married now, after all."

Harper lowered her eyes and replied calmly, "I've moved out, so it's no biggie."

"Are you serious?"

"Do I look like I'm kidding?"

"Why? Don't you love him? And isn't prolonged separation bad?"

"I want a divorce," Harper sighed quietly, shutting down the conversation. "Let's save this talk for later. We'll chat more once we're back."

Annie simply nodded, her gaze turning more profound and caring as she looked at Harper.

After their meal, they walked out hand in hand. But just as they reached the door, Harper's steps suddenly faltered. Annie turned to her, a questioning look in her eyes. "What's up?" Her expression was momentarily startled, her gaze distant, with a touch of coldness.

Following her line of sight, Annie spotted a familiar man standing at the restaurant entrance, accompanied by three others, including a woman they both knew and a middle-aged couple. Annie asked, "Is this why you decided to move out?"

Harper didn't reply, simply withdrawing her gaze. "Let's go!"

"Just like that?"

Annie seemed reluctant. "Your husband is right there. Shouldn't we at least say hello? You've never introduced me to him. Since we've bumped into him here, why not today?" Harper glanced at Annie, her demeanor calm. "Worried you won't get the chance to meet him? Don't worry. As long as you're staying with me, you'll meet him eventually."

"Harper, your reaction is quite muted."

Annie seemed surprised.

But Harper just smiled.

Perhaps she was accustomed to it.

Harper looked again at the scene outside. Benjamin stood tall and straight while Lauren tilted her head back, smiling at him. Though Benjamin's expression was stoic, there was a hint of happiness.

The middle-aged couple beside them wore smiles as they addressed Benjamin. "Benjamin, thank you so much for taking care of Lauren. Seeing you two getting along just like before makes us very happy." Hearing their voices, Harper realized they were Lauren's parents.

She found herself inexplicably wanting to laugh. This situation felt a bit like the groom meeting the bride's family.

Compared to the Mitchell family, Benjamin seemed to be even gentler towards Lauren's parents. Perhaps that was what they called "loving everything about someone".
