Chapter 179
Feel Safe
Curtis replied, "Anderson knows, and he's had dealings with Mrs. Martin, so he's not adverse to Annie being friends with Mrs. Martin."
"What gives him the right?" Benjamin glanced coldly at Curtis, seemingly extremely displeased with his remark.
Curtis apologized quickly, "I'm sorry, that was a poor choice of words."
"Enough. You don't need to worry about the Jones family for now, keeping an eye on Annie and Harper. If she dares to bring Harper down, just find a reason to inform the Jones family to come over and take her away."
"Yes, sir."
Curtis nodded.
The night passed, and Lauren called Benjamin again the next morning.
On the phone, Lauren told Benjamin the results of the hospital tests, "Benjamin, what should we do? My mom's situation seems to be more serious. The doctor recommended that she get a heart transplant. Otherwise, it will only get worse."
Lauren's sobbing voice caused Benjamin's brows to furrow slightly. He said indifferently, "Since the doctor recommended the transplant, you will do as the doctor says."
"You're right. But, Benjamin, I'm not familiar with the hospital and I need help with a lot of things. I have no choice but to ask you to help me, can I?"
"You can come straight to Curtis for anything the hospital needs. The Martin Group has had a lot of projects lately, and it's important for the Martin Group going forward, so I may not be able to be there in person. Is that okay?"
Lauren kindly said, "Okay, work is the most important. I'll talk to Curtis if something comes up. But..."
"What?"
"My mom has been missing you a lot. Probably because she's old and probably doesn't feel safe in the hospital, so she wanted to see you so badly. Benjamin, if you're available, could you come by the hospital?"
Benjamin didn't answer immediately after Lauren asked. The atmosphere went quiet with it.
A few seconds passed before his low, cold voice rang out. "Okay, if I have time, I'll be there."
"Okay, I'll tell my mom then. She'll be so happy. Benjamin, thank you so much!"
"You're welcome."
Benjamin's expression was lukewarm, as were his words, and there wasn't much in the way of waves or emotion on his face.
Only after the call hung up did Benjamin place his cell phone on his desk with slightly narrowed eyes, and a light chill surfaced on his handsome face.
At the hospital, Lauren put her cell
phone away and returned to the ward. Curtis had just completed the hospitalization process and came in. He politely told Lauren, "Ms. Davis, I'm already contacting the doctors and will begin the surgery as soon as the right match is available."
Lauren said with a lukewarm expression, "Okay, I got it."
Curtis frowned slightly and nodded before politely adding in a low voice to Sean and Wanda, "Please get some rest then. I've ordered lunch and it'll be delivered later."Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Curtis said, "That's what I should do." He then looked at Lauren and said, "Ms. Davis, if there's nothing else, I'll head back to the company."
"Thank you," smiled Wanda.
"Wait a minutę." Lauren asked with an expressionless face, "You find an escort to come over and chat with my mom to pass the time. I just talked to Benjamin on the phone and he told me to come straight to you if I need anything. Besides, has Benjamin been busy with projects lately?"
The meaning of her last words was obvious to someone as smart as Curtis.
He glanced calmly at Lauren, then said, "Ms. Davis, I'm sorry, but Mr. Martin's work schedule is internal company information that I can't disclose to you."
"Curtis, do you have to do this? If I
marry Benjamin, I'll be your leader. When the time comes, I can directly decide whether or not your job can continge, so you're paving the way for yourself later by serving me well now."
QUMS
Lauren warned Curtis without the slightest concern.
