Chapter 24 Missing Because Of The Separation (Part One)
Jackson immediately stood up and walked to the door.
When he opened the door, he saw that Cherry was picking up broken glass pieces. She was squatting
on the ground and there were faint scald marks on the back of her hand.
Jackson squatted down at once, grabbed her wrist, looked at it and asked with concern,"Did you scald
yourself?"
Cherry did not look up at him. She freed her hand from Jackson's and continued picking up the broken
glass pieces scattered on the floor.
"Stop! Watch your hands!" said Jackson angrily. Why was this woman so stubborn?
"It's none of your business. Am I the person that you should be worried about now?" asked Cherry. She
became angry, too. She raised her head and looked directly into his eyes. Her eyes were full of tears.
Seeing that Cherry was sad, Jackson felt distressed. She must have heard their conversation.
Derek stood behind Jackson, but he was too frightened to say a word.
Cherry felt that if she kept on like this, she would be laughed at since Derek was also there.
She took a deep breath, stood up while pretending that she was strong, turned and walked into the Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
bedroom.
Hearing the sound of the door closing, Derek quickly walked up to Jackson and said,"What should we
do now? It seems that Cherry has heard us."
Jackson stood staring at the door of the bedroom. He was in a dilemma now. He did not know what to
do.
Sally He, who he had been missing, had come back. He should urgently go to see her, ask about how
she had lived for all these years and see whether she needed any help. However, he did not know what
to do after seeing Cherry's reaction. She could so easily affect his heart.
"Wait for me downstairs in the car, I'll be there soon," said Jackson, coldly.
Derek knew that Jackson was in a dilemma. He nodded and did as told.
Jackson walked to the bedroom and opened the door. He saw Cherry sitting on the edge of the bed.
He walked over, sat in front of her and grabbed her hand, which was already slightly red and swollen.
He asked with concern,"Is it painful?"
Cherry looked away and sat still. She did not answer his question.
Knowing that Cherry was angry with him, he wanted to neither explain himself nor force his will on her.
He just stood up and said lightly,"Remember to apply medicine to the scalded skin."
After saying that, Jackson turned and left.
Gazing at him go, Cherry burst into tears. He had left her to go look for that woman.
At night, Cherry suffered from insomnia for the first time. She was alone in such a big bed and she felt
that the whole room was unusually cold.
She kept on thinking about Jackson. Where was he? Was that woman named Sally He now leaning
into his arms and speaking sweet words to him?
Cherry tried her best to control herself not to think about it, but she failed. Her mind had already
become a mess. The swollen skin on the back of her hand had become more and more painful, but she
did not care about it. She was numbed by the pain in her heart.
At night, in an elegant villa by the suburban seaside, Jackson looked at the woman in front of him, who
looked more beautiful and mature than before.
"Jackson, did you miss me all these years? Sally He asked, gently. She had been longing for the
reunion for more than ten years since she had fled away.
Jackson did not know how to answer her question. He wanted to say yes, but a strange feeling came
over him. The moment he met her, all his longing for her had disappeared at once. She had not
changed much, but he did not want to love or protect her anymore. He only hoped that she could be
happy and not be hurt in the future.
"How has your life been going all these years?" Jackson changed the topic.
Sally He was a bit surprised by Jackson's attitude. From the moment she met him, she felt that he had
already changed. He did not care about her as much as he did before. She felt bad about it.
"It's been good. I have lived in a distant relative's house. Although they are not very rich, I have lived a
quiet and happy life there," said Sally He.
"Well, I've been worried about you and I'm relieved to see that you have lived well," Jackson said,
lightly. They were once so close to each other and neither had expected that they would stay so calm
when seeing each other after more than ten years.
Sally He was even more surprised now. She wondered what was wrong with Jackson. When did he
become like this? Why was he so cold towards her?
Sally He stepped forward and held Jackson by his waist. She leaned her head against his chest and
whispered,"Jackson, I missed you every day. I can't possibly love you more than this. I know your
grandpa does not like me. In order not to bother you, I stayed in a small place for so many years.
However, I can't stand life without you anymore. I must come back and be with you."
Listening to her words, Jackson felt calm.
