Chapter 14 Can You Let Go Of Me First

Linda was still trying to figure out what was on Cecil’s mind when he stopped at the edge of the bed and curled his lips in disdain. “Your mouth is saying one thing, but your face is saying another.”

Linda nervously lowered her head to avoid eye contact. “Three days before the wedding, Leona just left a note saying that she couldn’t marry you.”

“Three days before the wedding?” Cecil asked dubiously.

“Yes.”

“But she called me the night before the wedding.” Cecil bent forward slightly to see Linda’s reaction.

Her eyes widened in surprise. “Really?”

Annoyed, Cecil pinched her chin so hard that she winced in pain.

“Do you think I’m talking nonsense with you?”

Linda was forced to meet his gaze. The uncontrollable anger in his eyes made her want to shrink back with fear.

However, she looked away as casually as she could. Enduring the pain, she said, “After seeing the note, my parents and I kept trying to call her, but her phone was turned off. The night before the wedding, my parents had already accepted the fact that Leona wasn’t going to return, so they were more concerned about what they were going to do.”

As she spoke, she felt the force on her chin getting stronger and stronger.

Her lips twisted as she tried to keep from crying out, and she raised her hand to free herself from Cecil’s grip. “Mr. Bo, can you let go of me first? It hurts.”

Instead of loosening his grip, he pinched her even harder.

He didn’t say a word. While tightening his grip, he looked straight into her eyes. There was a sense of satisfaction in his heart as he saw her face become more and more contorted with pain, until…

Linda finally couldn’t stand it anymore. Tears fell from the corner of her eyes and wetted the man’s hand.

All of a sudden, Cecil let go of her chin. Looking at his wet fingers, he frowned unhappily.

His

reaction went unnoticed by Linda, who was busy wiping her tears away. She had only cried because of the pain. Now that he had let go of her, she didn’t want to waste her tears anymore.

After drying her eyes, she pursed her lips and said, “Mr. Bo, you told my father that you would give him some time, so don’t get all worked up. It’s not good for your health.”

Cecil turned around irritably and put his hand on his forehead. “Leona is your sister. Didn’t you have any idea that she was going to run away from home?”

Linda frowned and thought about it for a moment.

What a coincidence…

The night before Leona’s disappearance, Linda had woken up at 2 a.m. and gone downstairs to drink some water. At that time, she had run into Leona, who had just returned home. While getting the water, she had casually asked Leona why she was coming back home so late at night. Instead of answering “It’s none of your business” as usual, Leona had actually given her an explanation.

“I was hanging out with my friends,” she had said.

Linda had been so sleepy then that she had just accepted her sister’s response without reading too much into it.

But now, she remembered the unnatural way that Leona had walked, as if she had just been through a grave experience.

But how could she explain all this to Cecil? If she did, he might not believe her.

It was better for her to just say nothing, so that they could maintain the status quo. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

Linda shook her head and said, “No, we’re not as close as ordinary sisters. We don’t talk much.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Cecil walked out of the bedroom and slammed the door behind him.

Linda continued to sit on the bed, lost in thought.

It was not until this moment that she actually began to give some serious thought to the most important question: why did Leona run away from the wedding?
