Chapter 292 The Origin

Most of Maggie’s injuries were superficial, with the most severe occurring when she fell from a height, but Nathael had shielded her well.

Thus, despite their scary appearance, the injuries weren’t grave.

Once her wounds were tended to, Mia and Joyce assisted her in freshening up and changing into new clothes before she headed back to the operating room.

Ericko had been waiting nearby, accompanied by another man.

Jimmy lounged casually against a wall in the corridor, exuding an air of fatigue with his arms crossed over

his chest.

He had striking features, and his attractive face possessed a mix of charm and fierceness. He gave off a sense of intrigue and sophistication, which was captivating.

Upon hearing Maggie’s approach, Jimmy glanced up, and his eyes met the figure next to her, freezing in an instant.

The woman had a naturally beautiful face with a gentle complexion. Her eyes were cold yet clear. Her nose straight, and she exuded a distant yet gentle aura.

Joyce glanced up at his gaze, and their eyes locked for a moment, leaving them both momentarily

stunned.

Joyce’s throat tightened, caught off guard by their unexpected encounter.

Quickly, she averted her gaze, concealing any additional emotions.

Jimmy chuckled. His eyes glinted with mischief, giving him a charming appearance, but there was a hint of malice beneath the surface.

Joyce guided Maggie towards the operating room, passing Jimmy. Suddenly, she stumbled, as if something had tripped her.

Jimmy reached out and caught her wrist, pulling her towards him.

“Ms. Sanders, it’s been a while,” he whispered coldly in her ear.

The familiar yet unfamiliar voice momentarily stunned Joyce, sending a chill down her spine.

Looking up at his handsome face, she spoke slowly, “Mr. Hansen, you can let go now. Thank you.

His grip on her wrist was strong; his knuckles turned pale while redness spread to its surroundings, mirroring the state of Joyce’s wrist.

Jimmy sneered, his gaze darkening as he whispered, “Didn’t I tell you never to appear in front of me again?”

The surgery dragged on, and past midnight, Maggie felt disoriented.

Today was Nathael’s birthday, but they ended up spending it in the hospital.

She had brainstormed countless surprises for him, but plans changed unexpectedly.

Many things proved unpredictable.

Taking out the brooch, Maggie opened the box with one hand and leaned against the wall, gazing blankly

at it.

Ericko had brought warm congee for her and sat beside her, speaking softly, “You should eat something.”

“But I don’t have an appetite.” Maggie replied softly without even lifting her eyes.

Ericko gently held her hand and suggested, “Why not head home directly? I’m anxious every time you’re at the Camerons, I worry about your safety constantly.”

Turning to look at him, Maggie’s pale face showed little colour.

Seeing the concern in his eyes, Maggie smiled faintly.

“I’m tempted, but it’s not possible,” she murmured softly.

If it weren’t for the ‘Dream Venom, perhaps she would seriously consider returning to the Adams‘ protection and living peacefully for the rest of her life.

However, things have changed now. If she didn’t have much time left to live, why bring sadness to her parents by returning to the Adams?

What used to bring joy now only brings sorrow. It was better to maintain her absence than to cause more pain by returning-

“Mom and Dad are really worried about you,” Ericko said again. Even though her parents didn’t know who she really was, they always cared for her.

“I’ll spend more time with them when I go back,” Maggie replied softly, politely refusing the idea of going back to the Adams.

Ericko’s tone became serious. “Maggie, Ronald is cunning and calculating. I’m always concerned about your safety at the Camerons‘

“Ericko, I’ve been okay all these years. Don’t worry,” Maggic reassured him softly.

Seeing her resolve, Ericko knew he couldn’t change her mind. There was a hint of worry in his eyes, evident even behind his glasses.

“Ericko, do you know much about Nathael… and Timmothy?” Maggie shifted the conversation slowly.

At the mention of this, Ericko fell silent for a moment before speaking gently. “Timmothy’s dad was Charlie, the fifth son of Old Mr. Harris. Since he was young. Charlie was smart but also a bit reckless

Charlie was different from the rest of Old Mr. Harris’s sons. He didn’t pursue business or politics but enjoyed sculpting. With the Harris family’s wealth, he lived a lavish life like a playboy.

Angry at his choice, Old Mr. Harris wanted to steer him back on the right path, so he arranged for Charlie to marry Emilia, a distinguished lady from the Finleys. Emilia was well–educated and had studied abroad.

for many years.

They seemed like a perfect match, both talented and attractive,

At that time, Charlie hadn’t met his true love yet. To please Old Mr. Harris, he agreed to the marriage.

Their relationship started off well, and they even had a son named Jay the next year.

Jay was born healthy, but later he fell ill and became weaker over time.

Doctors suggested they have another child whose blood could help Jay recover.

Maggie was stunned and couldn’t help but ask, “Was Timmothy their second child?”

“Yes,” Ericko replied solemnly.

“However, Timmothy’s arrival was unfortunate. When Emilia was pregnant with him, Charlie found his soulmate in a painter, and he fell in love.”

Ericko continued slowly, explaining how devoted a former playboy’s love was. Despite everything, Charlie wanted to divorce Emilia and marry his true love.

Old Mr. Harris was furious, and Emilia felt betrayed.

Despite Old Mr. Harris’s efforts to stop him, he couldn’t completely destroy his own son.

He cut off Charlie’s income and forbade him from entering any industry, but Charlie’s skill as a sculptor flourished. With his lover’s artistic skills, they managed to live comfortably by selling their work on the black market.

The Finleys were a renowned family, and they couldn’t tolerate their daughter’s humiliation. Hence, Old Mr. Harris sent the woman abroad to satisfy the Finleys.

Charlie disappeared, and despite a tumultuous search, his lack of previous business dealings–and thus, connections–made him difficult to trace.

Old Mr. Harris threatened Charlie with the woman’s safety, forcing him to give up and return to live at strained life with Emilia.

But how could he settle for someone else once he had found true love? Coupled with his own troubles, Charlie often drowned his sorrows in alcohol, spending weeks locked in his workshop carving. He grew increasingly distant from Emilia. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
