Billionaire My Husband 70
JESS
The bass thumped through the floor, vibrating up through my legs as I pushed my way through the crowded club. I needed to get away from him. Luke was too close. I was too close. Luke e like a black hole; whenever he's near, I get sucked into him. Was I going to let him take me against the wall in a nightcles? M I was being completely honest-probably.
Neon lights flashed erratically, making me lose focus. I turned around, trying to pinpoint in what direction I was heading, but it didn't really matter as long as I was away from him.
My pulse was racing, and not because I felt anxiety creep in but because that's how I felt every time Luke and I were in the same room together.
I finally saw red curls and brown hair matching my best friends. They were at the foot of the staircase, and I weaved through the sea of writhing bodies to get to them.
I couldn't figure out what they were doing until I passed the last barricade of swaying people and almost slammed right into them.
"Finally! I was looking everywhere!" I yelled over the music, but something was off. Sam looked up, and I could see it plastered on her face. Laura was in her arms, and her shoulders were shaking.

Was she crying? As if Sam could read the question on my face, she nodded. When Laura looked up and turned around, her face was red and blotchy, tears streaking down her cheeks. Sam had one arm around her shoulders, trying to comfort her, but it wasn't working. "Laura..." I stepped closer, my voice barely cutting through the pounding music. "What happened? What's wrong?" I wiped away the tears streaming down her cheek. For a second, I thought maybe the worst had happened. Worse than Bryan.
Laura shook her head like she knew where my mind was going too, but Sam answered for her. "Josh... he just told her that he cheated."noveldrama
"What?" I asked in disbelief, but Luara just started sobbing again. Sam held her and leaned towards me. "Apparently, he'd been sleeping with some chick named Melanie. He confessed to all of it and then had the fucking audacity to ask her to forgive him so they could star My mind went blank. I didn't know how to process this.
His words hit me like a punch to the gut, and anger boiled up inside me, spreading like bad rot. My brother promised me; he promised that he wouldn't do this to her. My hands started to shake as rage consumed me. How could he do this? How could he lie so easily? Sam's eyes widened suddenly, looking at something behind me. I spun around, and there he was. Josh stood just a few feet away, his brows furrowed, fake concern plastered all over his 0755 2

pathetic face. My fists balled automatically. It's not like I stood a chance. He was twice my size, but I still wanted to hurt him.
Luke came up behind Josh, put a hand on his shoulder, and then it all fell into place-the last little puzzle piece slipping neatly into its slot.
Luke's face was void of emotion, not a hint of the fire that burned just a few minutes ago when it was just us. No-that Luke was gone. He was my brother's best friend now, the guy who had his back no matter what, no matter how wrong my brother was.
His jaw clenched, his face unreadable as always, and I could see it, the message plastered behind his eyes - like this wasn't a big fucking deal.
The anger took over. I stormed forward, my vision narrowing, and before I knew what I was doing, my hand
flew through the air. The sting as my palm connected with Josh's cheek vibrated through my arm followed by a shooting pain. I refused to show him that it hurt me to slap him and just let my arm fall to my side. "You fucking asshole!" I screamed, my voice shaking with fury. "You promised! How could you?"
Josh didn't react, didn't even flinch. He just stood there, staring at Laura, his eyes filled with some pathetic excuse for guilt. Almost a tear, but not quite. But I wasn't done. I turned on Luke, my blood boiling over. I waited a few seconds for Josh to offer an excuse or a lame apology, but he didn't move. He just stood there looking at Laura in Sam's arms.
"Don't look at her. You don't get to look at her ever again!" I said flatly, and finally, his eyes shifted to me. I rolled mine in response to his pathetic little show of emotions.
"And you! You knew!?" I shoved Luke on his chest hard, but he didn't budge. Just stared at me with that same stoic expression.
I was so angry I could barely see straight. I didn't care about consequences, didn't care about anything. The words spilled out of me before I could stop them. I turned on Josh, "Just
so you know, your best friend fucked me and took my virginity in the pool house," I spat out, watching as Luke's eyes widened in shock, the first crack in his perfect facade.
I didn't wait for a response. I spun on my heel, grabbing Laura's and Sam's hands and pulling them away. "Let's go. We are done here."
