Chapter 1005: Claudia Is Dead
Tina exchanged a glance with Uncle at her side. They could see the same thought reflected in each other's eyes.
If it came to this, they would have no choice but to destroy the Jade Armour.
When lives were at stake, such things were the least worth worrying about.
The deadline was approaching fast. Claudia, unwilling to wait any longer, launched a full-force attack against the two of them. In her eyes, anyone's life was expendable as long as she achieved her goal.
If she succeeded, all her past deeds would be wiped clean.
Jared's abilities were restricted, but the Jade Armour within him provided an endless supply of energy. Tina, meanwhile, infused her powers into the silver needles in her hand. Together, they resisted Claudia's assault.
Even within the array, Claudia struggled to gain the upper hand.
Jared had the Jade Armour for protection, while Tina was unaffected by the array's constraints.
Claudia's movements became increasingly sluggish. Yet, using the array's core position, she repeatedly evaded their strikes.
Tina seized an opportunity. She and Uncle worked together to corner Claudia, leaving her nowhere to escape.noveldrama
Suddenly, the sky changed. What had been a bright, sunny day turned dark in an instant.
Claudia abruptly stopped and looked up. A strange light glimmered in her eyes. "The time has come. Your death is upon you."
Tina and Jared glanced at the strange phenomenon in the sky, reacting quickly to form a defensive stance.
Jared reached for his Jade Armour and was about to destroy it when an invisible force suddenly pulled it away.
The Jade Armour spun in midair before hovering steadily above the array, radiating waves of light.
Claudia's lips curled into a smirk. She had believed the Jade Armour required recognition from its wielder to activate. But it seemed that, once within the array, the artifact automatically returned to its place.
"The array has been activated. Do you really think someone like you can handle such a sacred item?"
Everything was in place. Claudia raised her gaze, locking onto Tina in the distance. Using the Jade Armour's energy from above, she attempted to control Tina.
But Jared countered with a decisive strike, breaking her attack.
Though his abilities were significantly weakened within the array, Jared, a tenth-rank wielder, was still formidable. Even at half strength, he wouldn't allow any harm to come to Tina.
Claudia raised an eyebrow, seemingly amused. "Fine. I'll kill you first. Then I'll kill the one inside her. Only then will she truly understand the depths of joy and despair life can offer."
Hearing Claudia threaten Tina and their unborn child, Jared's dark eyes narrowed sharply. A chilling ruthlessness flashed within them, enough to make anyone's heart tremble.
He would stop at nothing to protect Tina and their child.
Standing behind him, Tina understood exactly what was going through Uncle's mind. She had come here to end Claudia and bring a long-pursued target to justice. She hadn't come to throw her life away.
Their beautiful life together was just beginning. They were about to welcome their first child. There was no way she would let herself remain in danger.
She called out to him. "Uncle, don't worry. She won't get her way. We'll capture her alive and hand her over to the government. Let's claim our first-class commendation." Jared played along. "Alright. If Tina says we're taking her alive, then we'll take her alive." Claudia sneered. "You're on the brink of death, yet you still dream of such things. Save those thoughts for your journey to the afterlife."
With that, she extended her hand, using her powers to try and seize Tina.
In the split second before she could act, a figure suddenly lunged forward, grabbing hold of Claudia's ascending leg and pinning her down.
Claudia didn't even glance at the person. She waved her hand, unleashing a full-force attack. The figure on the ground spat blood but clung tightly, refusing to let go.
"You wretched woman! You killed my son... I'll make you pay with your life!" It was Nancy.
Tina hadn't anticipated this turn of events. She certainly hadn't expected Nancy to summon such strength to face Claudia head-on.
At that moment, a beam of light shot down from the Jade Armour above.
Sensing something amiss, Tina exchanged a glance with Jared and shouted, "Uncle, now!"
Jared understood immediately. The two of them combined their powers to target the Jade Armour. A faint cracking sound echoed, followed by a sharp shatter. Pieces of the Jade Armour rained down from above.
This was the final safeguard left to Tina by her master. If danger arose, destroying the artifact wouldn't necessarily buy much time, but it would be enough to save lives.
No one had expected Nancy to appear at this critical moment.
Standing at the heart of the array, Claudia's face turned pale. Her body, still recovering from previous injuries, convulsed violently as she vomited blood.
At her feet, Jennie lay lifeless, but her steel-like grip held Claudia tightly in place. Before Claudia could sever Jennie's hands, a blinding white light erupted overhead.
The array's backlash left no room for hesitation. In an instant, it engulfed both Claudia and Jennie. There wasn't even time for a scream. All that remained was a pool of fresh blood.
The blood broke the array. In a flash, everything returned to reality.
Aside from the bloodstains, it was as if nothing had ever happened.
Tina adjusted to the light, instinctively clutching Jared's hand. "Uncle, are you alright?"
Jared's face was pale, but he shook his head, meeting Tina's worried gaze. He immediately checked her for injuries. "I'm fine. Were you hurt?"
Tina looked at him, her heart aching at his pallor. "I have my powers protecting me. Nothing can hurt me. But you... you didn't hold back at all. Using your full strength only increases the backlash."
Jared simply offered her a faint smile. As long as Tina was unharmed, nothing else mattered.
They looked back at the scene.
Neither of them had expected the array to be real. Two living beings had disappeared before their eyes.
Tina narrowed her eyes. "Uncle, do you think Claudia is truly dead? Or did she just vanish?"
Jared thought back to the scene and shook his head. "People don't just disappear. But judging from what happened, even if she isn't dead, she won't survive."
"Jared! Madam!"
"Master!"
Nathan's voice rang out from a distance as he led a group towards them. Behind him were members of the Mountain Veil Order.
They had followed the tracking signal to this location but had been unable to find anyone after entering. The signal had mysteriously vanished half an hour earlier.
Fortunately, they hadn't moved far. Otherwise, they might have missed the best chance to save them.
"Jared, are you alright?"
Nathan's face paled when he saw how white Jared looked.
Jared shook his head, his first priority being to take Tina to the hospital for a full examination.
This place was full of hidden dangers, and he worried that the toxic mist from earlier might have harmed Tina.
Tina didn't object. She instructed Nathan to take Hayden and Oliver away, along with the antidote.
Oliver wasn't truly dead. Thanks to a protective pill Tina had given him earlier, his body was temporarily in a state of suspended animation. As long as he received the antidote within twelve hours, he could be saved.
Nancy, likely terrified by Oliver's apparent death, had decided to drag Claudia down with her in a desperate act.
Members of the Mountain Veil Order remained behind to investigate the area,
ensuring Claudia hadn't left any traps.
At the hospital, Tina completed a series of tests. Exiting the office with the results, she
was about to hand them to Uncle when Nathan's panicked voice rang out from outside.
"Jared! What's wrong? Don't scare me!"
What do you think?
