Chapter 7 Details of the Reward
Damien’s WhatsApp name was his actual name, Damien Lawrence.
For someone as prominent as him, there was no need to give himself a nickname. His name
represented everything.
Clarissa looked through Damien’s Instagram. There was not much content besides him sharing articles
written by New East Corporation’s public relations department.
To ensure Damien did not stand out on her contact list, she deliberately named him “Stranger”.
After Clarissa saved his contact, “Stranger” sent a message.
[ We’ll sign an agreement and get our marriage license tomorrow. ]
There were no unexpected changes. Damien was indeed a man of his words.
[ Okay. ]
After getting off work, Clarissa went back to her university dormitory to look for her birth certificate.
Then, she went to New East Mall and purchased a white shirt. It would be more appropriate since she
was registering for marriage.
New East Mall actually belonged to Damien. He had a considerable number of businesses.
The next morning, Clarissa put on slightly more makeup. Her skin was originally fair. After accentuating
it with foundation, her features became more intricate and beautiful. Then, she put on the small-sized
white shirt.
Her reflection in the mirror looked stunning. However, she did not realize it at all. She simply thought,
‘Since I’m registering for marriage, I should dress up for the occasion.’
The bus was slightly packed that morning. When Clarissa almost arrived at her destination, she
received a message from Damien on WhatsApp.
[ Stranger: Come to my office. ]
[ Clarissa: I’ll be there in 10 minutes. ]
When Clarissa arrived at Damien’s office, her outfit made an impression on him. Moreover, her chest
area was bulging, which made him vaguely recall that particular night. His thoughts got sidetracked for
a moment.
It was simply a man’s instinct. He did not say a word.
Damien was Clarissa’s ATM while she was his tool.
There was another person in the office. He was Damien’s legal advisor. The legal advisor instructed
Clarissa to sign a few documents. Primarily, Clarissa had no rights to any of Damien’s assets. The
marriage also had to be kept a secret from the public. If nothing went wrong, Clarissa would receive a
million dollars once the agreement ended. Moreover, there would be bonuses throughout the marriage
period. The details were listed.
Firstly, ten thousand dollars would be awarded if she could make Damien’s grandfather smile.
Secondly, twenty thousand dollars would be awarded if she cooked a delicious meal for Damien’s
grandfather.
Thirdly, one hundred thousand dollars would be awarded if she took care of Damien’s grandfather if he
were hospitalized.
Fourthly, one million dollars would be awarded if she handled Damien’s grandfather’s funeral affairs
after his death.
Finally, the most important line that caught Clarissa’s attention, “Once this agreement is signed, the
man will pay the woman 200 thousand dollars as a deposit in advance.”
There was an additional clause.
“For matters that are not addressed, the right of interpretation belongs to the man.”
The generosity of the contract stunned Clarissa. Damien was simply too rich. Naturally, the rewards
revolved around his grandfather.
Caring for his grandfather in the hospital once could pay off a caregiver’s salary for ten months.
Clarissa hoped that Damien’s grandfather would live a long life. That way, she could earn unlimited
money. Her mother’s hospital bills would not be an issue anymore.
Damien’s method of distributing perks was quite similar to New East Corporation’s salary system. The
base salary was not high, but there were a lot of bonuses if one performed well. It made the employees
feel motivated.
Clarissa thought to herself, ‘I must do my best to get more money.’ Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Shortly after, she signed the contract.
“Have you prepared all the documents?” Damien asked Clarissa coldly.
“Yes. Here’s my identification card and birth certificate.” While speaking, Clarissa took out those two
items from her bag and placed them on Damien’s office table.
He simply took a glance and said, “Let’s go.”
They went to the city hall.
Just after ten minutes of obtaining their marriage license, Clarissa’s photo with Damien was marked
with the registry office’s stamp.
Clarissa felt like she was in a dream. As of now, she was officially a married woman.
After returning in the evening, she went back to work as usual. It was like nothing had happened.
However, Clarissa was constantly thinking of one thing. Why was the deposit of two hundred thousand
dollars not in her account yet?
It was “life-saving money” that could resolve most of her pressing problems.
