Loved You Once But He's My Forever (Chloe)

Chapter 534 Your Child Is Dead

I looked up at the figure standing in front of me. He was dressed in a sharp, well- fitted suit, looking impeccable and striking-yet it wasn't Carter. It was Luke.

He was wearing the same suit from our previous wedding, and his presence, though unexpected, felt oddly familiar.

Luke stepped forward, placing himself between me and Wisteria. As he did, he took the blow from the knife that Wisteria had aimed at me. The blade sliced through his hand, and blood began to pour down his wrist, staining the air with an eerie sight.

I could hardly believe what was unfolding before me.

Luke looked at me with a gentle smile, his eyes meeting mine as he spoke. "Chloe, this time, I made it."

He didn't call me "Zoey" as he had before. Instead, he used the name that always filled me with warmth.

Wisteria, visibly shocked by his sudden appearance, gasped in disbelief. "Luke, is that really you?"

She yanked the knife from Luke's hand, another spray of blood splattering in the process.

Luke stood tall, positioning himself protectively in front of me. "Chloe, don't be afraid."

"How did you get here? Did you contact Carter?" I asked, trying to stay composed.

"I was worried someone might try to ruin everything, so I've been keeping an eye on you. When I saw you get in the car with her, I followed. Uncle Carter and the others are on their way from the hotel, but it'll be a few minutes-five, maybe ten."

I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding, feeling a wave of relief wash over

me.

Wisteria had been confident that everything was under control, with Eleanor secretly diverting Carter's people. What she hadn't counted on was Luke's arrival. He wasn't going to follow Eleanor's commands.

Besides Wisteria, the only other person present was the maid, who had already shown her strength in the past.

As soon as Luke appeared, she pulled out a gun and aimed it directly at him. "Ms. Carlyn, step back," the maid commanded.

My heart raced, and I shouted, "Luke, get out of the way!"

But Luke didn't flinch. Instead, he grabbed Wisteria's wrist with one hand, yanking the knife from her grip.

He pulled her close to him, pinning her with one hand around her throat, and the maid froze, clearly unwilling to make a move.

Wisteria tried her usual manipulation, her voice taking on a pained tone. "Luke, it hurts..."

Her voice was like a haunting memory-a nightmare from my past life that once terrified me.

Back then, her tricks had always worked. But now, Luke had her under control. Her wrist was locked in his grip, and her throat was firmly held in place.noveldrama

"Wisteria, do you really think I'm going to fall for your games again? After so long, I've finally caught up with you."

"Let go of her!" the maid pleaded in panic.

Luke's voice was cold as he sneered. "Then put your gun down. If you don't, I'll strangle her."

The maid hesitated before reluctantly lowering her weapon. "It's down."

"Good. Now, kick it over to me. Don't try anything," Luke ordered.

The maid did as she was told, and Wisteria, no longer pretending to be helpless, looked at Luke with a cold smile.

"Well, looks like you've learned a thing or two over the last year."

Luke's expression hardened with anger. "Of course I have. All of this is thanks to you, Wisteria. You've taken everything from me my peace, my happiness."

Wisteria's eyes glinted with malice. "Stop blaming me. If you hadn't gotten bored and treated her like you did, none of this would have happened. Luke, you're getting exactly what you deserve. It gives me so much joy to see you in this misery. You all deserve it

Her laugh echoed eerily, filled with madness. "I never wanted to live anyway. Let's

all go to hell together!"

I felt weak, my breath unsteady, but I pushed myself to my feet. Taking a shaky step toward Wisteria, I grabbed her by the collar. "Where are my children? What have you done with them?"

Wisteria's expression twisted into something dark and cold. "I had them pay for my baby's life. Chloe, this is what you owe me."

As Wisteria's words sank in, an overwhelming chill swept through my entire body.

I couldn't breathe, my chest tightened, and my mind raced in disbelief. My voice barely escaped me, trembling and weak. "Wh-what did you just say?"

Her lips twisted into a cruel,

mocking smile, and her eyes glittered with a cold, dark

amusement. "I said... your children are dead. They should be about six months old now, shouldn't they? Don't worry, though. I'll make sure their bodies are preserved and sent to a medical school. They'll be used as specimens for students to study."

Her words slithered into my brain, and the horror of what she described hit me like

a slap. I couldn't stop imagining my tiny babies-those fragile little lives—

mutilated and turned into some grotesque display for others to examine.

I imagined all the horrible things that could happen to my children.

The same children who, just the night before, had peacefully fallen asleep in my

arms, cooing softly as I held them close.

Now they were gone. Dead.

Reduced to nothing more than specimens.

Cough!

Suddenly, an unbearable pain erupted in my chest-a raw, searing ache that made it feel as though my heart had been ripped out. I gasped, choking on the metallic taste of blood, before I violently coughed up a mouthful, feeling it spill down my chin.

"Chloe!"

Luke caught me before I could collapse, his voice filled with panic. The world around me spun as my vision blurred with tears. My body seemed to go numb, and I felt myself slipping further into a dizzying abyss.

I was still weak from everything that had happened before. And now, this unimaginable torment pushed my fragile state to the edge. My mind was foggy, my thoughts scattered. I couldn't think, couldn't feel.

A hollow emptiness swallowed me whole.

The children I had fought so hard to bring into this world-my precious babies-

were gone.

Tears flowed uncontrollably as I gasped for air, my voice hoarse as I choked out a desperate plea. "Why? Why would you hurt innocent children? If you want revenge, take it out on me, Wisteria!"

Rage, pure and fiery, burned through my veins, clouding my vision in a red haze. I trembled with anger, my body shaking with the force of it. My voice cracked, rising from a whisper to a full-throated scream, the pain and grief breaking me from the inside out.

But the blood kept spilling from my lips, staining everything.

Luke's arms tightened around me, his face a mask of desperation. "Chloe, please, calm down! Your body—"

Before he could finish, Wisteria moved in with lightning speed. She grabbed the

knife from the ground and, taking advantage of Luke's distraction, lunged toward

me.

"Die, Chloe!"

There was no hesitation in Luke's actions.

In an instant, he pulled me into his embrace, shielding me from the blade with his

own body.

The knife drove deep into him.

"Luke!" I screamed, my voice ripping through the night, torn apart with horror and

helplessness.
