Chapter 26
Several dishes were laid out on the large dining table
There were a salad, stuffed bell peppers, pan seared sea bass, barbecue glazed pork, butter garlic shrimps, and a pot of seafood chowder. The presentation of the dishes was impressive, not looking like someone’s first attempt at cooking.
Lola’s attention briefly drifted from the butter garlic shrimps before she picked up some salad and took a bite. She hadn’t been expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the taste the next second. The dish was well seasoned, slightly light.
She glanced at Dominick across from the table and noticed his muscular hands. Surprisingly, there were several red spots on the back of his hands that appeared to be burnt by oil splatters.
Lola looked away indifferently, feeling no particular stir of emotions,
After seeing her take another bite, Dominick subtly smiled as he picked up the plate of butter garlic shrimps and began peeling them. However, as Dominick started peeling the shrimp, he didn’t notice Lola’s eyes flickered with a hint of mocking glint.
She hardly ate before putting down her fork and intended to leave.
Dominick frowned upon noticing that Lola had barely eaten and pushed the peeled shrimps toward her. “Eat up, these are your favorite shrimps.”
She looked down at the shrimp in front of her, chuckled softly, and then looked up to say, “Mr. Sinclair, you might not be aware, but I don’t eat seafood because I’m allergic to it!”
Upon hearing that, Dominick paused for a moment. He frowned as he looked at the peeled shrimps and then looked up at her, skeptically asking, “I’ve known you since you were thirteen, and we’ve shared so many meals together, How come I never knew you were allergic to seafood?”
Lola suddenly laughed. Even though she had long stopped caring about certain things, hearing them still stirred a faint ache in her heart.
She exclaimed. “It’s because Jessica loves to eat shrimps!”
Lola reflected, Jessica loved shrimps, so it was always ordered, but no one ever noticed that I never took a single bite, not even Dominick, who’s known me since I was thirteen….
Without another glance at Dominick’s reaction, she turned and walked out of the dining room. At the moment she turned, Lola’s eyes darkened suddenly, a hint of self–mockery flashing through them. Just as she reached the staircase, she saw Henry hurriedly walking in from outside.
Upon seeing her, Henry paused, nodded at her, and greeted her. “Mrs. Sinclair!”
Lola didn’t respond and began to walk up the stairs. But after a few steps, she heard Henry’s voice from the dining room, saying, “Ethan has been relentlessly attacking both the Moore Group and the Sinclair Group these past few days…”
At the mention of Ethan, she paused, turned around, and hurried back down the stairs to the dining room.
When Lola entered the dining room, she saw Dominick nonchalantly dumping the peeled shrimps into the trash and closing the lid on the seafood chowder. Upon seeing her return, Henry’s voice trailed off, and he abruptly stopped talking.
Seemingly not expecting her to return, Dominick looked up and simply said, “Continue!”
Upon seeing that Dominick wasn’t planning to exclude Lola, Henry continued speaking “It seems because of Mrs. Sinclair, Mr. Lewis has not attacked the Sinclair Group too harshly. Instead, he seems determined to completely crush the Moore Group, showing no mercy. In just a few days, the Moore Group has begun to crumble, with its financial chain braking. It won’t last much longer.”
“Does he have any message for me?” Dominick asked with a sneer. Although he was speaking to Henry, but his gaze was fixed on Lola.
Henry hesitated, then looked at Lola before replying, “Mr. Lewis asked me to tell you to send Mrs. Sinclair back within three days, Mr. Sinclair. Otherwise, the Sinclair Group will face the same fate as the Moore Group.”

Dominick didn’t say whether he would send her back or not. Instead, he coldly stood up from his chair and approached Lola. Dominick grasped her chin and forced her to look up at him. He then locked down at Lola with coldness in his eyes,
He said, “Whatever Ethon’s status may be, I won’t comment on that for now. He has no feud with the Moore family, so the only reason he would act this way is because of you, Lola. Tell me. What exactly is your relationship with him that he would risk provoking both the Sinclair and Moore families for your
sake?”
“My relationship with him has nothing to do with youl” Lala retorted coldly before breaking free from Dominick’s grasp and walking out of the dining
room.
She then went upstairs. Just as Lola reached the staircase, she heard Dominick’s voice faintly from downstairs. “Inform Mr. Moore that 60% of the Moore Group’s projects are to be temporarily suspended. Additionally, I will personally provide funds to the Monte Group to stabilize the situation!”
“Understood!” Henry nodded. Afterward, he hesitated before looking up toward the stairs and saying, “Since Ethan is doing this for Mrs. Sinclair, if you personally fund the Moore Group, Mr. Sinclair, it will seem like you’re opposing Mrs. Sinclair. She might misunderstand…” Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Dominick also glanced upstairs before lowering his gaze and calmly stating, “Landon died for me. Before he passed away, he entrusted Jessica to my care. I cannot go back on my words!”
Upon hearing that, Henry was initially startled before realizing what Dominick meant.
Landon knew Dominick also had feelings for Jessica back when they were young but made concessions for him. So, before he died, he entrusted Jessica to Dominick’s care as a way of fulfilling his wish. However, Dominick’s care was merely platonic.
“What’s the situation of the Sinclair family?” Dominick asked.
At the mention of the Sinclair family, Henry frowned slightly and lowered his voice to reply, “Ethan’s targeting of the Sinclair Group is very deliberate, and with Mrs. Sinclair’s recent interview, they’ve become aware. The elders at Sinclair Manor have called you twice, seemingly wanting you to bring Mrs. Sinclair back, but I managed to brush them off by saying you were on a business trip.
“But Mrs. Samantha Sinclair sent someone to the Royal Haven, seemingly attempting to forcibly take Mrs. Sinclair away. I’m not sure how Ethan managed to have Mrs. Samantha Sinclair detained by the police, and it was Mr. Quentin Sinclair who had to hire a lawyer to bail her out.
Upon hearing that Ethan had Samantha sent to the police station, Dominick showed little reaction and remained expressionless.
After learning that Lola was still alive, no one from the Sinclair family at Sinclair Manor bothered to care about what she had gone through or how she had survived. Instead, there were only speculations about her motives for returning. Lola’s status could never qualify her as the wife of the CEO of the Sinclair Group. It was always about interests and face.
Henry suddenly remembered something and hesitated before saying, “And… Ms. Moore has been trying to reach you about the Moore Group. Anna said that you were on a business trip, but since Ms. Moore couldn’t reach you, she hired a private detective to track your whereabouts.”
Upon hearing that Jessica had hired a private detective to track his whereabouts, a flash of displeasure filled Dominick’s eyes.
