Nathan and Gideon fought to hold the flanks, their blades flashing as they cut down rogue after rogue. But the enemy's numbers were endless, and the weight of the battle began to take its toll.

A Lycan charged toward Nathan, its massive form barreling through the line. Gideon moved to intercept, his blade striking true, but the creature's claws found their mark. Nathan's shout of warning came too late. Gideon staggered back, blood pouring from a deep wound in his chest. He fell to his knees, his gaze locking with Nathan's. "Don't stop," Gideon said, his voice a strained whisper. "Finish this."

Nathan clenched his jaw, his grief swallowed by fury as he drove his blade into the Lycan's neck, killing it instantly.

Aurora's world seemed to tilt as one of the injured wolves stumbled into the healer's quarters, gasping out three words that sent her heart racing: "Magnus... inside...."

She froze, her hands trembling as the words sank in.

Iris grabbed her arm, her tone sharp. "Go. Warn Cassian."

Aurora hesitated, then nodded, her legs carrying her out of the quarters and toward the battlefield.

Cassian struggled to his feet, his vision swimming as Magnus advanced on him. The enemy Alpha's eyes glowed with triumph, his movements deliberate as he raised his claws for the killing blow. But before Magnus could strike, a howl split the air.

Aurora appeared on the ridge, her voice carrying over the chaos. "Cassian!"

Magnus turned, his lips curling into a sneer. "You brought her here? How convenient."

Cassian's gaze snapped to Aurora, his heart pounding. "Aurora, get back!"

But she didn't retreat. Instead, she picked up a blade from a fallen wolf and charged toward Magnus.

The fight was desperate and chaotic. Cassian and Aurora worked together, their movements synchronized in a way that felt instinctual. Magnus's strikes were powerful, but he was outmatched by their combined determination.

In a final, devastating blow, Cassian drove his blade into Magnus's heart. The enemy Alpha staggered, his eyes wide with disbelief as he collapsed to the ground.

"It's over," Cassian said, his voice heavy with exhaustion.

Aurora dropped the blade, her hands shaking as she stared at Magnus's lifeless form.

The battle ended with Magnus's forces retreating, their morale shattered by their leader's death. The wolves of Cassian's pack stood battered but victorious, their howls of triumph echoing through the forest.

But as the pack began to regroup, a scout approached Cassian, his expression pale.

"Alpha," the scout said, his voice trembling. "There's... something you need to see."

Cassian and Aurora followed the scout to the edge of the battlefield, where the trees parted to reveal a towering figure.

The Lycan King stood in the shadows, his presence radiating power and menace. His eyes glowed like molten gold, and his lips curled into a cold smile.noveldrama

"Well done, Cassian," the Lycan King said, his voice deep and resonant. "You've defeated Magnus. But you've only cleared the way for me."

Aurora's breath caught, her chest tightening as the enormity of the threat sank in.
