Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Look Like A Fool

“You’re right, I’m sure Jessie won’t be happy.” Alexander said. “But she needs to understand that my feelings for her were never as strong as they were for you. I know it’s going to be hard for her to accept, but she has to move on. And I need to focus on us now.”

“I know, I just don’t want you to get hurt.” Marissa said, concern evident in her voice. “I care about you too much to see that happen.”

Alexander looked into Marissa’s eyes. “I know you do. And I appreciate that. But I can handle myself. I’m not going to let anyone hurt me, or you. We’re going to be okay, I promise.”

Marissa took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. “I know you’re right.” She said, after a moment. “I just can’t help but worry sometimes.”

“I know, it’s only natural.” Alexander said, gently. “But we can’t let that worry control our lives. We need to focus on the future, and what we want to do with it. Do you know what I want?”

Marissa smiled. “Tell me.”

“I want to build a life with you.” Alexander said, without hesitation. “A life filled with love, laughter, and happiness. A life where we get to experience all the things we’ve ever wanted. And a life where we can make all our dreams come true.”

Marissa’s heart swelled at his words. “That sounds wonderful.” She said, her eyes shining with emotion. “I want that too. I want to build a life with you, and make all our dreams come true. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, by my side, no matter what.”

Alexander pulled her into his arms and kissed her. “I love you, Marissa. And I’m so grateful that you feel the same way.” He said, when the kiss ended.

“I want to start our life together right now. We can start making plans and taking steps towards our future. Let’s make all our dreams a reality.”

Marissa nodded.

“Let’s do it.”

Meanwhile, Jessie entered her apartment and threw her bag on the couch and went to get herself an alcoholic drink.

She stood there for a moment, a drink in her hand, lost in her thoughts. She couldn’t believe that Alexander had chosen Marissa over her. He had promised her that he would choose her, that they would be together forever. And now he was with Marissa, living the life that Jessie had always dreamed of. It wasn’t fair.

Jessie took a sip of her drink, feeling the alcohol burn her throat. She wanted to cry, but she refused to let herself. She was stronger than that. She had to be. But she couldn’t help but feel a wave of bitterness and resentment rising up inside.

“How could he do this to me?”

She scoffed.

“He chose her over me! He chose that bitch over me!” she yelled as she smashed the glass cup on the wall and screamed.

Ring

Ring

She goes over to her bag and picks it up and opens it to pick her phone. It turned out to be Jaime.

She rolled her eyes, obviously uninterested by his call.

After a moment’s hesitation, she answered the call. “What do you want?” she asked, her voice cold and uninviting.

“Let me guess what you’re doing right now…. I guess you must be drinking and talking to yourself that Alexander picked a lowlife instead of you. Am I right?” he asked on the phone.

His words stung, and Jessie felt a fresh wave of anger rising within her. “You have no right to judge me!” she shouted into the phone. “You have no idea what I’m going through. You don’t know anything about me!”

“Well I know that you’re wasting your time thinking of a guy who doesn’t want to have anything to do with you.

You should get the clue and move on from this Jessie.” he said.

“Never!” she yelled on the phone.

“I’m gonna make him pay for what he did to me and make Marissa pay for stealing my man.”

Jaime laughed seriously on the phone.

“So what do you want me to do for you?” he asked her.

She was silent for a while as she thought about what to do, then she came up with an idea.

“I want you to find a way to split them up, Jaime.” she informed him.

“I don’t care how you do it or what you do. I just want you to split them up!”

Jaime couldn’t believe what Jessie was saying. He was thrilled by the idea of hurting Alexander, of getting revenge for all the times he’d been made to feel inferior.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

He wanted to make Alexander pay for also hurting the woman he loved and the fact that she doesn’t love him back but only thinks of Alexander only made him feel worse.

“I will do it for you, Jessie.” he said, his voice firm.

“I will make Alexander and Marissa pay for hurting you like that, you have my word.” he said.

Jessie felt a thrill of excitement at his words, but also a hint of fear. Jaime seemed different somehow, like a shadow had fallen over him. She was suddenly afraid of what he might do.

But she wanted Alexander to pay for what he did to her at the event and the fact that he chose a lowlife over her made her feel more worse.

“You will pay for what you did to me, Alex,” she told herself.

“Let’s see how strong your love is for each other when you face adversary hmm.”

This was not the first time Jessie had felt this way. She often felt like she was competing with Marissa for Alexander’s attention and affection. It was as if she was the second choice, the one who was always left behind. She had tried to convince herself that it didn’t matter, that Alexander cared for her in his own way, but deep down she knew that it wasn’t true. She was always going to be second best, the one who was never good enough. And that knowledge stung like a thousand needles in her heart.

She knew that she should walk away, that she should find someone who would truly care about her, but no she wasn’t ready to move on until those two paid for hurting and making her look like a fool.
