Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 561

Selena's heart ached deeply, tinged with disappointment. Her voice softened, "So, everything you've been doing lately was your call. You just let me know, expecting me to go along with your plans and make all your dreams come true."

"I've tried my hardest to keep you happy-whether it was sending Everett those divorce papers, setting up this meeting, or even when you had your assistant use my name for things, I didn't hold it against you." "But now, you're asking me to choose you over little Mateo."

"You, of all people, know how much little Mateo means to me. He's my world..."

A tear escaped from her reddened eyes and landed with a soft plop on Callum's hand, making him flinch as if he'd been burned.

Resolutely, Selena pulled away and turned to leave. Callum stood frozen, watching her walk away, unable to move.

Meanwhile, at the Bennett family mansion, guests were gathered, chatting and clinking glasses. As melodious piano music filled the air, Everett guided little Mateo down the grand staircase, step by step, into full view.

Despite his young age, Mateo carried himself with remarkable poise and didn't shy away from the crowd-truly a case of 'like father, like son.' The Bennett family elders were visibly pleased. They had worried about Everett not having an heir, nudging him often about it, only to find out he was way ahead of them.

Mateo, with his adorable looks and rosy cheeks, naturally drew a crowd of socialites who showered him with compliments and pinched his cheeks. Little Mateo frowned, utterly annoyed by these women who reminded him of witches from a fairy tale. But he endured,. remembering Alex's promise that behaving well meant seeing his mom soon.

Alex glanced at her young charge sympathetically. A child without a mother... it was a tough situation. At times like this, it should be the lady of the house stepping in, and Mr. Everett, being a man, wasn't exactly in a position to deal with the socialites.

Checking the time, Alex realized it was almost time to announce the engagement. She texted Jenny: "Miss Harper, the engagement ceremony is about to start. You can come in now." Jenny replied quickly: "Okay."

Alex scanned the room once more, but still, no sign of Selena. She sighed softly.

Was Mrs. Everett really going to let Mr. Everett get engaged to another woman without a word? Did she truly have no feelings left for him?

Five minutes later, the lights dimmed, leaving a spotlight shining on the stage. The man, sharp in his suit, with striking features and a tall frame, drew admiring glances, making everyone envy the woman about to take his hand.

The music shifted to a romantic

melody. A woman in a trailing white

gown, Yasmine, with impeccable makeup and striking red lips, wore a white veil that partially hid her face. In the dim light, it was hard to tell who she was, and everyone just assumed it was Jenny.

Only Alex, standing close, took one look and was stunned. How could it be Yasmine?noveldrama
