Mommy, Please Marry My Daddy (Kamryn)

Mommy 38

Nicole pondered for a second upon hearing that, and she cast a casual glance at Jenna and Kamryn.

With a smile on her face, Kamryn looked composed.

However, Jenna kept a straight face with her hands clenched tightly. Her forehead broke out in a cold sweat possibly because she was nervous or something. She was staring at Nicole closely with her eyes wearing delicate makeup.

Nicole could see a pleading look in that pair of eyes.

Her eyes darkened, and she quickly guessed something.

However, she couldn’t go Jenna’s way.

That was because Charles also knew that she had given Kamryn a bag.

She couldn’t lie about this.

Therefore, she took her eyes off Jenna and looked at the police officer who asked the question. With a formal smile on her face, she nodded and said, “Yes, that’s true. I gave that Hermes bag to Kamryn. Is there a problem?”

“How could that be possible?” Jenna thought.

She was caught by utter shock, and her face turned pale.

She staggered before collapsing on the seat, her shoulder trembling.

Unexpectedly, Kamryn did not lie.

That bag… was really a gift from Nicole!

But how was that even possible?!

Nicole was the dear daughter of the Duarte family and the mighty president of the Impride Corporation, the only female among all the presidents of the group.

Jenna might not be able to build a connection with her no matter how hard she tried.

Why was Kamryn so lucky?

For a moment, a feeling that probably was jealousy or indignation got the better of Jenna, who did not even pay much attention to the questions the police officer asked her later.

Her agent had turned ashen with fear.

Nicole remained composed during the whole process of giving her testimony, which sounded very convincing. She even had the receipt and certificate of the bag provided to the police at the latter’s request.

The evidence was conclusive.

The truth seemed to have come to light.

The police officers had come to a conclusion and nodded before saying, “Okay, thank you very much for your testimony, Miss Duarte. It will be of great help to the case.”

“You’re welcome. That’s what I should do.”

Nicole gave an elegant smile.

“We will bring the case to court, and if you are interested in it, you can stay and watch it, Miss Duarte.”

Nicole raised her eyebrows slightly and glanced at the assistant behind her.

The assistant immediately replied, “Miss Duarte, you left the meeting halfway, and the executives probably are still waiting for you. So I’m afraid you can’t make the time.”

“Got it.”

Nicole nodded and refused the suggestion politely. “Sorry, I’m kinda busy, so I got to go. Please just do what you need to based on the law.” “Okay. You can rest assured about that.”

The police officer did not insist.

Nicole turned around, ready to leave.

At that moment, Kamryn called out to her. “Please wait, Miss Duarte.”

Nicole stopped and asked in a frosty voice, “Is there anything else you got to say?”

Kamryn looked at her with a mixture of feelings. She had thought that Nicole hated her when the latter warned her to stay away from Charlie and that she wouldn’t give her testimony.

But to her surprise…

It turned out Kamryn had misunderstood her.

“Thank you, Miss Duarte.”

Kamryn thanked her sincerely. After a pause, she continued with a blushed face and in a low voice, “Sorry to bother you during your work.”

Nicole frowned in disgust.

She hated Kamryn, especially when the latter tried to act like an innocent girl in front of Charlie.

Nicole found her face very annoying.

She gave her testimony for the sake of Charlie, not Kamryn. Thus, she didn’t appreciate her gratitude.

“Don’t flatter yourself. We’re not friends!”

Nicole left with her assistants without sparing Kamryn another glance.

Kamryn felt a bit awkward.

What Nicole said was true, but Kamryn was very grateful to her for her testimony and for clearing her name.

Despite their grudge over Charlie, she still thought she should thank Nicole and thought it was the right thing to do.

At this thought, Kamryn felt much more at ease. She turned back and sneered at the pale and collapsed Jenna. “Now, could I prove that I didn’t steal her bag?” she asked the police officer.

The officer nodded.

Kamryn smiled again and said in an implicating tone, “In that case, you still should investigate thoroughly who stole her bag. After all, it’s something worth hundreds of thousands of dollars that got stolen. It’s a big case, isn’t it?”

She flicked her nails with a chuckle, and a cold light flashed in her eyes.

“Since Jenna dared to slander me for stealing, I must teach her a lesson and let her taste the feeling of shooting herself in the foot,” she thought.

The police officer couldn’t agree with her more.

After all, the bag was worth no less than a house. It was really expensive.

As long as it was confirmed that the bag had been stolen, it would definitely be considered a big crime.

The police officers took the case very seriously and asked Jenna with a solemn face, “Miss Ramsey, can you tell us what happened in detail? When did you find your bag missing?”

“L…

Jenna was so panicked that she replied without thinking carefully, “This morning.”

“What’s the specific time?”

I–I don’t remember.”

“Where did you lose it?”

“In the set…”

“When and where did you last see your bag? Do you remember who was there?”

The police officers dug into details with their logical questions.
