Chapter 464
Madison wandered the streets outside Grayvale black market. She looked like a lost soul.
The documents Dustin's men had shown her were deeply unsettling.
Her once-unshakable faith had crumbled, and it left her adrift and aimless.
She never imagined that the supposedly righteous Outlaws Department harbored so much darkness.
Corruption, favoritism, and abuse of power for personal gain...
It was all there. Some even used their authority to oppress and exploit innocent civilians.
The worst part? Some of the offenders were people she knew and admired. Those she had once looked up to as role models.
She questioned everything she had ever stood for and aimlessly roamed the streets.
"Agent Seven."
Suddenly, a voice called out and snapped her out of her daze.
“Who's there?” she demanded. She was instantly alert.
"Agent Seven" was her designation within the Outlaws Department.
She turned toward the voice and saw a figure emerge.
It was a middle-aged man with long hair tied back. He was dressed in a black robe with a white "Outlaws Department" emblem on the back and a "Mystic" insignia on his chest.
Madison's face paled as she dropped to one knee.
"Agent Seven of the Outlaws Department reporting to Mr. Harris!" she said and lowered her head.
This man was her leader...
There were four ranks of agents in the Outlaws Department, and this man was James Harris, the top Mystic Agent of the Outlaws Department. He led all the Amber agents of the Outlaws Department. He was her direct superior.
"Agent Seven, what's the status of your investigation into the surviving descendant of the Fox family?" James-asked with a blank face. His tone of voice was commanding.
Swn
"Mr. Harris, Dustin is exceptionally powerful. He's far beyond the typical Martial Saints. Dustin even Agent One, who is currently recovering in Central Harbor," Madison said.
"I'm aware," James said indifferently.
IMS
"To injure Agent One is no small feat... I will personally handle this. We must capture him and take him to Central Harbor to face judgment!"
Madison hesitated.
The files Dustin had provided did not mention James.
Could he be one of the rare incorruptible ones? Did that mean he was trustworthy?
"Do you have something to say?" James asked as he shot her a glance.
"Mr. Harris, my investigation has uncovered new evidence about the Fox family massacre that happened twenty-three years ago..." she said cautiously.
"Go on." A flicker of emotion shone in James's eyes.
"Our records claim the case was resolved, but the true culprit remains at large. I suspect someone within the Outlaws Department was bribed to cover it up, and they used
wel
scapegoats to close the case," she said firmly.
James's eyes narrowed.
"Where did you get this information? Can it be verified?" he demanded.
"It's accurate," Madison said.
The files, stamped by high-ranking officials, left little room for doubt.
They had been retrieved from the Outlaws Department vault that was guarded by a Martial King.
"Show me your evidence!" James ordered, and his voice got deeper.
Madison hesitated briefly before she prepared to hand over the documents. Her gaze flickered with uncertainty as she cast a glance at James.noveldrama
