Chapter 1339
The taste was surely not on par with a restaurant's or the maid's cooking, but it was still quite good.
There weren't many women like Rosa who could cook dishes like that so well in this day and age. And she could make quite many different styles of food.
Besides, Skylar probably didn't know how to cook at all. So, she didn't even qualify to compete with her.
When Joe finished eating, Rosa noticed that the dishes he had praised seemed barely touched as she cleaned the table. It was as if he had only taken a bite and sampled the rest.
Then, she glanced at Joe, who was already seated on the couch.
Did he praise it just out of courtesy? Was he actually still unsatisfied with her cooking? She had put so much effort into this-what more could he want?
"Ned," she couldn't help but call out.
Joe looked up, turning to face Rosa. "Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing. I just missed you," Rosa replied, swallowing down her questions about who Joe might have been with today.

Rosa left the apartment half an hour later. Once she was in the car, she instantly called Calvin. "I want to know if Mr. Sowle was on a date with a woman today. Who was it?"
Calvin was momentarily stunned. He was caught off guard by Rosa's straightforward question. "Mr. Sowle wasn't on any date. He returned from a business trip today and has been on the road since."
"Really?" Rosa was skeptical.
If Joe wasn't with a woman, then where did that scent come from?
"Yes, his schedule has been packed these past few days," Calvin said firmly.
Rosa's suspicions eased a little after hearing that.
Could she be overthinking things? Joe might have picked up the scent accidentally during a meal or a work meeting.
She then leaned back in her seat and pressed her fingers to her temples.
Perhaps she had been too tense

lately because of Skylar. She had been obsessing over every small detail, growing paranoid and hysterical over things that might not be real. This kind of behavior would only drive Joe further away.
Still, she decided that she would visit Gloria again once she was discharged from the hospital.

The next day, Gloria looked much better when she woke up, which relieved Skylar.
"I told you I was fine. You two worry too much. Stop worrying, I'm in good health," Gloria said cheerfully to Skylar and Veronica.
Skylar nodded and said, "As long as you're well, that's all that matters. If Rosa comes by again, just turn her away. There's no need to see her."
"I agree. There's no reason to entertain her." Veronica nodded firmly. She felt that Rosa certainly had some nerve to cause trouble for them.
Gloria just chuckled. "Alright, alright, I'll listen to you. If she has the audacity to come by again, we'll turn her away.
"Skye, do you have anything important to do today?"
"I accepted Mr. Knight's order, so I'll be restoring his paintings at home over the next two months whenever I have the time. But there's
