As Gloria and Skylar hurried out of the elevator, Skylar accidentally bumped into Joe, who caught her in time.
Calvin, who was at the side, was shocked.
Who would've thought that after running into Skylar yesterday, his boss would see her again today? Wasn't it fate? Plus, it was a fate that was unstoppable.
He recalled Rosa questioning him last night. He had felt guilty because not only had the boss seen Skylar yesterday, but they had also kissed. He'd witnessed it, but he couldn't tell Rosa without his boss' approval.
"Excuse me. We'll be leaving now," Gloria said, reluctant to leave Joe's side and wanting to say more. But she understood she had to be patient. Knowing Joe's cautious personality, if she said too much, it might make him overthink, which wouldn't help with his recovery.
Skylar nodded to Joe, understanding that her priority now was to calm Gloria's emotions. Even if there were many things she wished to say to him, this wasn't the right moment.
As they left, Gloria couldn't help but glance back several times.
Once outside the hospital, she took Skylar's hand and said, "Now that I've seen Joe, I feel truly at ease. I still had some doubts previously, afraid that maybe it was just my wishful thinking for him to be still alive. But now, after seeing him, I'm sure—he is Joe."
Unable to contain her emotions, tears filled Gloria's eyes again after she finished her words.
Veronica quickly consoled her, saying, "Don't cry, Mrs. Martin Senior. The doctor specifically advised you to keep calm and avoid any strong mood swings."
Skylar added, "Yes, Grandma, please stay calm."
Gloria wiped her tears with a smile and nodded repeatedly. "Okay, don't worry about me. I'm fine, really. My emotions are stable."
Skylar relaxed and said, "That's good. Let's head home now."
"Yes, let's go home. By the way, why was he at the hospital? Could it be some aftereffect from the accident?" Gloria couldn't help but worry.
Seeing this, Skylar reassured her
with a smile. "He's okay. He just lost his memory from the accident, but his physical injuries have healed completely, so there's nothing to worry about, Grandma."
"Mr. Martin was most likely here because of Rosa. She may be dealing with some health issues.
When you were having your
checkup, we ran into her," Veronica explained, hoping to prevent Gloria from overthinking about Joe's condition.
Gloria calmed down at that. "I see."
Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she looked at Skylar. "Skye, since he lost his memory, he might believe Rosa and show her some concern. Don't let that upset you.
"When he looked at you just now, the look in his eyes was unmistakable—he clearly still has feelings for you, just like before."
Skylar smiled and said, "Grandma, I understand. Don't worry, okay?"
Feeling satisfied, Gloria nodded. Fatigue could be seen on her face. So, she leaned back and closed her eyes.
"I'll take a short nap. Wake me when we're home."
"Okay, Grandma. Have a rest." Skylar then signaled the driver to drive with extra care.
Meanwhile, Rosa had just returned to her room from a series of tests, lying in bed with a pale face.
She had spoken with Joe on the phone that morning, and he'd promised to visit. But now that her tests were over, he still hadn't shown up.
She was anxiously trying to guess what might be delaying him when the door finally opened.
