Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Fabio exploded when he heard Christopher’s absurd demand. He yelled, “Who the f*ck are you? How
can you expect Mr. Cordrington to do that!”
After that, he immediately grabbed Julianna’s wrist, attempting to drag her to Jared’s private room.
Julianna struggled with all her might as Fabio scorned, “Just give up already! You should be counting
the lucky stars that Mr. Cordrington has set his eyes on you.”
Hardly a second later, Fabio felt as if someone had clapped his wrists in a death grip. He yelped in pain
and released his grip on Julianna’s wrist. At the same time, he turned around to glare at the person
who had grabbed his hand.
When he realized it was Christopher, Fabio cursed, “F*ck you! How dare you grab my hand! Let go of
me!”
“Apologize to my wife right now!” Christopher demanded coldly.
Fabio was a prideful man through and through, and he could not take such humiliation. Naturally, he
fumed and roared, “You want me to apologize to you? Over my dead body! Just wait till I kick you
down!”
He immediately sent a flying kick Christopher’s way.
Alas, Christopher’s leg flew out before Fabio could touch a hair on his body. He was known as
‘Underlord’ for a good reason, and Fabio was clearly not his match.
The vicious kick sent a screaming Fabio flying outward. The poor man even skidded for at least five
meters across the floor.
Fabio shrunk into himself and swore, ”Ouch! Ouch! Holy sh*t, it hurts like cr*p!” His cries reverberated
throughout the ballroom.
The clamor which initially surrounded the banquet immediately died down into silence. Everyone turned
around to look at the commotion, stunned. Some had even witnessed Fabio’s unceremonious skidding
across the floor.
Outraged murmurs spread through the crowd. “Wow, who the h*ck decided to beat up someone at Mr.
Cordrington’s banquet? He must have a death wish!” This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“That was one solid kick. Hey, isn’t the victim Mr. Cordrington’s lackey, Fabio?”
Most people were well aware of Fabio’s dogged attempts to suck up to Jared.
Striking Fabio at Jared’s banquet was no different from humiliating Jared.
“Time to sit back and watch the show!”
The crowd eagerly anticipated Jared’s response to Christopher’s actions. Though Christopher
appeared to be a military man due to his camouflage suit, it was difficult to fathom him emerging
victorious in a clash on Jared’s turf.
Meanwhile, Julianna remained in shock after Christopher’s deadly powerful kick, which sent Fabio
flying across the ballroom.
Fabian’s family had witnessed the scene as well and grew incensed. He had come over earlier to see if
things were going smoothly, only to bear witness to Christopher kicking his precious son.
An infuriated Fabian bellowed, “How dare you strike my son, Christopher! You’ve got it coming now!”
“What’s up, mister? Keen to give it a go?” came Christopher’s sneering response.
His confidence frightened Fabian. After all, Christopher had been a military man, and Fabian knew the
extent of his abilities. Fabian’s family members dared not step forward, either. Instead, they helped
Fabio to his feet while glaring at Christopher.
“Dad, he struck me! You’ve got to avenge me!” Fabio demanded. He continued to clutch his abdomen
as he almost teared up in pain.
Fabian gritted his teeth before whispering, “This is Mr. Cordrington’s turf. He’ll break Christopher’s legs
for causing trouble here. Let’s inform Mr. Cordrington immediately.”
Meanwhile, Jared was observing the happenings in the ballroom on a tablet in his private room.
Several members of a notary public stood beside him. Jared had planned on using these people to
pressure Julianna to become his lover.
He had been waiting for Fabio to bring Julianna to him, yet he was surprised when he saw Christopher
beating Fabio up at his banquet. Jared actually laughed; he had been looking for a reason to teach
Christopher a lesson.
Jared summoned some bodyguards over. “Come with me.”
The notary public staff followed him as well. They were at Jared’s beck and call after being bribed by
him.
Back in the ballroom, Christopher remained cool as a cucumber.
Just then, Fabio spotted Jared entering the ballroom, flanked by several bodyguards. He bellowed, “Mr.
Cordrington! Mr. Cordrington! You can’t let his behavior slide!”
Everyone’s eyes were glued to Jared, the eldest son of the prestigious Cordrington family and the
future heir to Cordrington Corporation.
With a dark expression, Jared demanded, “Do you know what you have done, Christopher?”
That earned him a half-hearted glance from Christopher, who sneered in response, “Fabio was getting
physical with my wife. That was a light punishment for him.”
Jared could not help but scoff as he replied, “Wow, the audacity! You’re still so arrogant after striking
one of my men. I’m giving you a chance to get on your knees, plead for mercy, and crawl out of this
ballroom. I will overlook your outrageous actions in return.”
He knew that Julianna’s only pillar of support was her husband. That was why he was determined to
ruin Christopher right before Julianna’s eyes. He wanted to show Julianna that Christopher was
worthless compared to him.
Christopher was merely a useless prick fit for Jared’s humiliation.
It was also a warning to Julianna that Jared could and would have anyone he wanted.
Meanwhile, Christopher said scornfully, “I’m afraid you don’t have the right to force me to kneel!”
“Oh? Rights? Let’s not look at the fact that this is my banquet. I happen to control the Murrays’ lifeline
in my hands. Are you trying to ruin the Murray family right now?” Jared taunted mercilessly. He truly
believed he was in full control of the situation.
Christopher’s just an ant I can crush between my fingers. Julianna is destined to become my playtoy!
Suddenly, Fabio cried out, “Oh right, Julianna. Don’t forget what I told you earlier. You know the
consequences.”
His words struck fear through Julianna’s soul. She had already seen the notary public members behind
Jared. Should she refuse his wishes, causing the Murrays to lose their land in Dragon Valley, their
family would lose their entire fortune.
Yet, if she agreed to become Jared’s lover, her future would be ruined.
She would spend the rest of her days like a soulless zombie.
Before she could say a word, Christopher replied coldly to Jared, “I will never agree to that.”
Jared smirked in response. So what if he says no? He’s not walking out of Wyvern Hotel today. I’ve
planted my men outside the ballroom who will beat Christopher to a pulp once he leaves. Julianna will
eventually become mine.
“I don’t agree either,” Julianna choked out after mustering her courage.
“Oh? Fine. Have your husband kneel and crawl out of this ballroom. Besides, your whole family can
look forward to bankruptcy and serving a long jail time!”
Suddenly, someone in the crowd shouted, “Kneel down and apologize to Mr. Cordrington!”
His voice seemed to trigger the crowd into chanting, “Kneel down!”
The voices rang out louder, each louder than the one before. Their chants were full of rage and obvious
attempts of flattery. After all, they were on Cordrington Corporation’s turf.
Christopher and Julianna seemed to be fighting a battle without any support more than ever. Julianna
visibly trembled in fear; the pressure was too much to bear.
The crowd was certain that the couple was doomed.
In their eyes, offending Jared was a recipe for disaster.
Fabio was rather satisfied by how things had turned out, as were his fellow Murray family members.
Julianna choked out, “Let’s go home.”
Tears streamed down her face, and she looked like a helpless child at the moment. Christopher’s heart
ached. He hugged his wife, ashamed at how much he had hurt her in the past.
Julianna should have been enjoying her life instead of suffering such pain! All of this is far too cruel!
He quickly consoled her, “Don’t worry. No one will ever harm you, including Jared.”
Five years ago, he dedicated his life to protecting Chanaea. Now, it was high time he protected the
woman before him.
Christopher turned his attention to Jared. “You think you can pressure me with your power, Jared? Let
me show you the face of true power! Let me show you my true identity!”
