Chapter 989
Garland laughed drily, “You’re joking, Mrs. Houston.”
Debra smiled playfully, “But you do seem a little different from the last time we met. You should remember the 50 million dollars I spent on you, right?”
1
Garland replied, “That isn’t a big deal. I can pay you back.”
Debra turned serious. “That’s not how things work. A person should have integrity. You promised me, and since I’m the boss, you can’t back out so easily. You’re a man of your word, aren’t you?”
Garland recalled Juan’s advice and sighed, “To be honest, I was under a lot of pressure at home, so I came here to have some fun. Nothing more to it.”
Debra raised an eyebrow. “That’s a wild coincidence. You just arrived in Seamar City, and here we are meeting.”
Debra wasn’t one to believe in coincidences, especially not in a world full of hidden agendas.
But Garland stuck to Juan’s script and spoke seriously. “I feel the same way. You didn’t intentionally seek me out, did you?”
Debra immediately associated this with Andrew, who tipped her off about this arcade.
She suspected that this meeting with Garland was also his design.
Garland saw the suspicion in her eyes and knew he had successfully shifted her focus.
“Do you also find this arcade a bit strange?” he asked meaningfully.
He pointed to the claw machine nearby, where a clear label indicated the machine was made in Orkgate. The manufacturer was none other than the Lowe Group.
In Orkgate, at the Lowe Group’s headquarters.
Several men were pinned to the ground, trembling in fear. “Please have mercy, Boss.”
Drake sat at the head of the room, his gaze cold and calculated. His voice, slow and dangerous, oozed with malice. “I’ll ask again. Who did this?”
“I’ll tell you everything,” said one of the men, scrambling forward. “It’s a private buyer. We don’t know who they are, but they had one of our contracts. They asked us to deliver the latest machines, and we followed the contract to the letter. I swear, everything I’m saying is true, boss.”
Drake demanded, “The buyer’s contact information and the delivery location?” novelbin
“There weren’t any contact details. They only specified the machines should be sent to the
docks of Seamar City.”
“Does the contract have my signature?”
“No, it doesn’t.”
“Then it’s your signature, isn’t it?”
“No, I didn’t dare.”
Kale stepped forward. “Boss, should we get rid of him?”
Drake muttered, “Just chop off his hands.”
He stood up, picked up a hammer from the table, and brought it down hard on the nearest machine. The sound of metal smashing echoed in the room.
Drake shook his hand, which had numbed from the impact, before giving the rest of the machines a cold glance. “Smash them all. Take these machines and his severed hands to the docks of Seamar City.”
“Yes, boss.”
Drake strode out of the room, ignoring the cries and begging behind him. He loosened his tie, his expression dark with irritation.
Kale followed him out. “Boss, it looks like someone in Seamar City is targeting the McKinney Group. This could be a great opportunity for us.
