Chapter 2230
Chapter 2230
I couldn't help but think of the worst.
Hendrix was a smart businessman. He often plotted for revenge whenever he made a loss in his business dealings. How could he not have seen this coming?
To put it bluntly, he had admitted that he had been aware of everything that had happened that year. He had allowed it to happen.
Hendrix was young and impetuous. He showed no mercy. He offended plenty of people and they weren't people that would be willing to just let him have all the credit to himself. He knew that Andrea would be killed if she followed him everywhere every day, but he didn't stop her. Instead, he let things happen and allowed all of his enemies to know that Andrea was the woman he loved.
He had succeeded. When those people started to take their revenge, Andrea became the target of their first attack and she had warded off this misfortune from me. She not only lost her virginity but also carried the child of a gangster. That was just the tip of the iceberg...
The truth was much cruder than I thought!
I now know why he had been so fickle during the first two years of our marriage. Hendrix hated me. He hated himself because he couldn't help loving me and he hated himself for sacrificing his friend's sister for my sake.
He was always open and aboveboard but he changed to protect me. He became a person that he looked down on for me.
My throat was itching, countless doubts were crawling all over me like ants on a tree. I had so many things I wanted to ask him. But before I could speak, Hendrix stepped out of the room, leaving me and Aaron alone as we watched his lonely figure disappear.
"Is that guy crazy?" Aaron asked as he looked at him walk away, feeling confused.
I plopped onto the sofa and realized that I had torn Hendrix's dignity apart, one that he had been trying so hard to cover up. "I'm the one that's crazy." Imagine being at your peak, then someone comes in and slashes all your effort apart, calling you a traitor. The fortress you've spent everything on collapses right in front of you. That must be incredibly painful.
Hendrix had always been the best in the public's eye. He was never behind anyone on anything. He was arrogant but also noble.
I suddenly felt scared. Scared that this was going to be the first domino that could destroy Hendrix.
That night, Hendrix's phone was uncontactable.
Aurelia seemed to have noticed that something was wrong. She couldn't him, which was why she had been clinging onto me. She seemed afraid that I would disappear too.
I couldn't be too emotional about this right now. Startling the kids would not be a good things. I had to pretend that nothing was wrong and rely on my connections to try to get a hold of Hendrix.
As the sun was about to rise, it began to rain. The room felt stuffy, so I got out of bed and walked to the balcony.
I didn't know whether I was watching the rain or hoping to see Hendrix appear out from the distance.
Finally, the kids went off to school. I
couldn't wait any longer. I got changed right away and prepared to leave the house. The company, the bar, the place where we reunited.... Giving those places a shot was better than waiting in an empty house. NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
As soon as I reached the door, a black Charles limousine blocked my path.
The car window slowly rolled down, revealing Jordan's hypocritical face. He always had a sly look in his eyes, as though to cover up how he really felt inside.
I looked down at him and ignored him, but Jordan stopped. "Arianna, don't you want to know what Hendrix is doing right now?"
I really wanted to grab him by his collar and throw him a punch, but for Hendrix's sake, I endured.
Jordan waved and got his driver to open the car door.
Without hesitating, I walked around the car and got in.
