Chapter 218 He's Still Breathing

Following the navigation, Charmaine arrived at the foot of Mount Viper.

Dense trees stretched endlessly below, while the winding mountain road above seemed to disappear into the sky.

Rex, who had long since run out of complaints, stared at the steep incline and felt his legs tremble. "Boss, are we really going up there?"

Charmaine didn't answer. Instead, she stepped on the gas and surged forward.

Rex let out a piercing scream and squeezed his eyes shut.

All he could hear was the howling wind and the deafening roar of the engine, making him feel as though he was on a never-ending roller coaster.

He had no idea how much time had passed before the car finally came to a stop.

Without hesitation, Rex bolted out of the car and vomited as if his soul was being expelled from his body.

Charmaine frowned slightly at the sight before tossing him a bottle of water. Then, she got out of the car to assess the situation.

The dirt road bore two deep, fresh skid marks.

"The color is still dark, and there's no dust covering it," Charmaine murmured to herself. "This happened today."

She scanned the area and her eyes narrowed in an instant.

Further down a dangerously narrow curve in the road, a large section of rock was missing, with loose debris scattered around it.

Stepping forward, she leaned slightly over the edge-only to be met with a dizzying drop into a dense forest below.

Rex finally finished vomiting and looked up, only to see Charmaine half her body hanging over the cliff's edge. He nearly had a heart attack. "Boss!"

Charmaine straightened up and said calmly, "There's a rope in the trunk. Get it.”

Rex's eyes widened in horror. They were the only two people here.

"Wh-Who's going down?" His voice trembled.

Charmaine arched an eyebrow. "Me."

She secured the safety rope around herself and, with practiced ease, began descending the steep cliffside.

Halfway down, her gaze darkened as she caught sight of a wrecked Porsche lodged within a thick tangle of branches. The once-luxurious car was now a twisted heap of metal, barely recognizable.

Reaching the bottom, her breath hitched as she spotted a figure lying motionless in the mud. A gaping wound marred his forehead, and his face was as pale as death.

Charmaine was shocked. She hurried over and put a finger below his nose.

He's still breathing!

Relief washed over her, but there was no time to waste. She lightly slapped his face. "Milo, wake up!"

His eyes remained shut and his body was unresponsive.

Without hesitation, Charmaine pulled out her phone and made a call.

By the time the Nelsons arrived at Mount Viper, the police had already cordoned off the area at the base of the mountain.

As soon as Olympia saw the wrecked Porsche being hoisted out of the trees by a crane, she collapsed to hernoveldrama

knees.

"Mom!"

Leah and Jonah rushed to support her, but Olympia's tears wouldn't stop. She sobbed uncontrollably. "Milo... my son!"

Leah held her tightly and turned her face slightly away. "Mom, please ... Milo wouldn't want to see you like this."

She glanced at the mangled remains of the car.

The metal was twisted beyond recognition-what about the person inside? Milo is as good as dead now.

Willard's face was a mask of grief and he was trying to hold back his tears.

Isaac approached with a grave expression. "I'm sorry. We weren't able to find Mr. Milo."

For a split second, hope flickered across everyone's faces-except Leah's, whose expression darkened. "Milo wasn't in the car?" she asked.

Isaac shook his head. "The Porsche 911 is severely deformed. The onboard recorder is damaged beyond repair, so we can't retrieve any data. Based on preliminary analysis, the crash happened last night due to excessive speed while turning. The car lost control, flipped over, and plunged off the cliff. However, only a small amount of blood was found inside-no human tissue. Mr. Milo likely got out of the vehicle after it fell."

"How could this happen?"

Leah blurted out instinctively, but realizing that her reaction was too abrupt, she quickly changed her expression to one of relief. "Milo is so smart-he must have escaped in time! The fact that we haven't found him is the best news possible!"

Olympia chimed in eagerly, "Yes, yes, Milo has always been lucky. He must've gotten out safely. He'll be

fine."

Leah turned to Isaac. "Mr. Isaac, I'm sure you'll be able to find Milo for us!"

Isaac glanced at her, then shook his head. His voice was calm but carried a heavy weight. "The drop was over

undred feet. This area is remote, and reports of wild monkeys, stray dogs, and even wild boars

attacking nearby homes are common. I fear that Mr. Milo might have already...”

He trailed off, choosing his words carefully.

After all, surviving a fall from such a height was nearly impossible.

The absence of a body in the wreckage could only mean one thing-Milo had likely

become prey for the wild beasts lurking in the area.

At those words, the brief flicker of hope in the Nelsons' eyes was instantly

extinguished, plunging them into despair.

"My son... my poor son!" Olympia wailed.
