My Dady BR 212

Back to My Worst Birthday and Starting Anew

Chapter 212 Wrong Number

At this moment, Charmaine was already on her way back to Eastlake.

The streets on both sides bustled with life with neon lights flashing in streaks across the car window.

The vibrant colors reflected onto her face, casting flickering patches of light and shadow, making it impossible to discern her true emotions.

She had no idea what Milo was trying to do, but she knew one thing for certain-no matter what he did, it wouldn't change anything.

She wanted no part of the so-called hope that the Nelsons offered."

Holding her phone, she spoke to Milo in a calm, indifferent tone. "Stop struggling. Just give up."

"I won't!" Milo's voice was firm, resolute. "This time, I won't let you down. Just wait!"

With that, he hung up, glanced at the location sent to him, and started the navigation.

The red Porsche shot forward like an arrow released from a bow.

The address was morenoveldrama

an a hundred miles away, located in a small county near Eragos.

Milo had never been there before, but right now, impatience burned through him.

He had to find that nurse as soon as possible, to

uncover the truth about what happened all those years ago.

There were too many coincidences-too many for it to be mere chance.

A strong instinct told him that Bennett had something to hide.

On the highway, he pressed the gas pedal as far as it would go.

By the time he arrived in the county, it was nearly midnight.

At the toll station, he asked for directions, only to learn that the location on his GPS was deep in the mountains.

"If you're heading up there, you'll have to drive through several sharp turns along narrow roads," the toll worker warned. "Strangers unfamiliar with the route don't usually risk driving up at night. You might want to find a place to rest and head up in the morning."

Milo nodded his thanks. "I'll be fine-I'm a seasoned driver."

The worker tried to advise him again, but Milo had already sped off.

Following the coordinates, he ascended the winding road. The narrow mountain path and continuous sha turns made driving exhausting, especially after hours behind the wheel.

His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as his gaze locked onto the road ahead.

The higher he climbed, the steeper the slope became. Even his high- performance sports car began to struggle.

The endless twists and turns grated on his patience. Frustrated, he pulled out his phone and dialed a

It rang a few times before the call connected. The background noise on Jared's end was deafening. He was in a bar.

Milo called his name several times before Jared finally heard him.

"Jared, are you sure the person I'm looking for is really up in the mountains? Why the hell would she be hiding here?"

Jared sounded utterly confused. "What are you talking about? What mountains?" Milo cursed. "Are you drunk? Didn't you send me this address?".

Jared sounded even more baffled. "What the hell? I've been here all night drinking and flirting. I didn't wanna interrupt your family reunion. When did I send you anything?"

Milo slammed on the brakes.

A chilling thought struck him like lightning.

"Shit. I got tricked!"

Heart pounding, he abruptly ended the call and scrolled to the message.

It had been sent under Jared's name.

However, the number wasn't Jared's. Someone had changed the contact name on his phone.

Back then, he had been too agitated to double-check. The moment he saw the message, he rushed over without a second thought.

His phone was almost always with him. How could someone tamper with it?

Unless ...

It was someone close to him.

His mind buzzed with the terrifying realization, sending a cold chill down his spine.

"Son of a-!"

His eyes burned red with fury and his chest heaving as rage clawed to escape.

Right now, he had only one thing in mind. He had to race back to demand answers from Leah. What the hell was she trying to do?

Driven by nothing but raw anger, he whipped the steering wheel around.

The Porsche spun in a tight circle, sending up a cloud of dust.

Slamming the gas pedal, he shot back down the mountain road at full speed.

He barely noticed the sharp turns as he flew past them. The road ahead narrowed and Milo instinctively stepped on the brakes. However, nothing happened.

"Shit-why isn't it working?"

The cliff's edge loomed closer. Desperation surged through him. He yanked the wheel and tried to swerve away. The car tires kicked up loose gravel and it skidded.
