Chapter 11: Let’s Go Have Our Wedding Night
The priest’s words hung in the air, emphasizing the significance of the kiss that would seal their vows. The tension in the room became heightened as the few guests consisting of only the city hall staff as well as Sebastian’s driver, assistants, and bodyguards, awaited the final moment of the ceremony.
Kourtney felt her heart skip a beat as the word “kiss”, kept echoing in her ears. It didn’t matter if this man was now her legal husband or whatever. She would never let him claim her lips. Not now, not ever! Or so she thought…
Summoning all the strength she had left, Kourtney turned her face towards Sebastian in a carefully calculated move. He stood tall at over 6ft4, so she had to tiptoe as high as possible to give him a peck on his right cheek. It was a swift gesture meant to divert him from kissing her directly on the lips.
She didn’t want to give him that satisfaction, not after everything he’d put her through. She knew that a peck on the cheek was a traditional gesture and could be substituted for a kiss at the altar. And fortunately, the priest seemed satisfied with that as he smiled happily and continued to shower blessings and prayers for them.
Kourtney noticed Sebastian’s expression darken like he was denied a prize he wanted. He stared at her, his eyes filled with a hunger that made her skin crawl. It was as if he felt entitled to every part of her, even the simplest affection. His eyes bore into hers, filled with dissatisfaction and annoyance, but she couldn’t care less. It made her feel good!
A sense of satisfaction crept over her, knowing she had retained some control over the situation. She had managed to maintain her own boundaries, even in this forced marriage.
As the vow exchange ceremony concluded, the priest and the other “guests” started to disperse. Sebastian took Kourtney’s hand in his and held it tightly as if she might run away.
He was still a little mad about her silly peck on the cheek, but he reminded himself that he had time, all the time in the world. She was his wife now, after all. His possession! They were now legally bound to each other, and he believed that sooner or later, he would have her body, whether she liked it or not!
They both left the city hall with intertwined fingers, heading towards his waiting car. Kourtney was stunned as she caught sight of it.
‘This man! His ride has changed again. He’s switching his cars like he’s changing outfits,’ she thought. However, she dared not comment on it.
This time it was a White Mercedes G63 Armored Limousine. The sight of it almost took her breath away. It looked so exotic, expensive, and intimidating like it cost all the money in the world. She felt overwhelmed by his extravagant display of wealth and power.
The entire city knows about Sebastian Woods’s luxurious lifestyle. His personality was as icy as his bank account was overflowing. He was the most prominent young master from the Top1 family in Melbourne, and she had just married him in a flash. Just like that!
She wondered if she still had the right to complain. Millions of women would count themselves lucky if they were in her situation right now. Somehow, she felt like laughing and crying at the same time.
As they settled into the plush leather seats of the sleek Limo car, Kourtney’s heart raced. She was now legally bound to a man she barely knew. She couldn’t deny the growing sense of dread that crept into her heart. She felt like she was walking into a labyrinth with no clear path to escape.
They sat side by side in the back seat, the weight of their newfound marital bond hanging heavy in the air. They turned towards each other, their eyes locking for a brief moment before Kourtney looked away shyly.
She thought, ‘Why can’t this man stop looking at me like he wants to eat me?’
She turned her attention to the window, admiring the bustling night view of the city. The lights and sounds outside were a welcome distraction for her. Soon enough, her raging thoughts began to settle, and she started to think more clearly about the situation.
She still couldn’t believe that the person she just married was ‘The Sebastian Woods.’
Kourtney had never really cared much about the glamorous world of high society and the famous big shots despite being from one of the elite families herself. And that was one of the reasons why she didn’t recognize him.
She was a simple woman, content with her modest lifestyle and her fulfilling job as an event planner. She rarely goes out to those fancy elite society events happening every other weekend like Kathlyn and her parents do. She can’t even remember the last time she went to one of those, and her parents no longer nagged her to come along.
Over the years, they have been very much satisfied with taking only their favorite daughter Kathlyn to such high-class parties.
‘No wonder Kathlyn could easily recognize all the big shots in the business and entertainment circle.’ Kourtney was pretty sure her estranged sister could have easily pinpointed Sebastian on the spot of their accident.
Soon enough, Kourtney began to recall all the stuff she’d heard about Sebastian from various magazines, tabloids, and gossip news. They said he became a billionaire at twenty-two, after taking over and reviving his family business, and he was currently 29 years old. She remembered reading countless magazine issues about him, including recently on ‘Forbes’ where he made the list of “Richest Worldwide Billionaires Under The Age Of 30.”
He was nicknamed the Stone-Hearted CEO of The Woods Corporation because of his cold and ruthless demeanor. Despite his nasty attitude, he remained the most loved and desired bachelor in the city. However, he remained single and uninterested in women through the years. They said he sometimes sent women to jail for stalking or barely standing too close to him.
‘Wait! They also said something like, ‘he can’t touch women, and he was impotent,’ Kourtney recalled, and her eyes widened in shock. She instantly remembered that they were rumors saying he preferred men over women as well.
Without delay, the sudden thought of Sebastian using her as a trophy wife, someone to parade around at social events and prove a point about him being a ‘normal man’ made her stomach churn. The realization just hit her now.
She turned her attention from the window back to the man in a flash, and she caught him gaping at her. ‘Has he been looking at me this whole time?’
He had so much intensity and longing in his gaze, making Kourtney wonder if the rumors could be false, especially since he’d been staring at her the whole evening like a hungry beast who was aching to swallow her. Perhaps the rumors were baseless, mere fabrications meant to tarnish his reputation as a big shot.
However, the possibility that she might be nothing more than a trophy wife for him, used to uphold his image, sent a wave of anger and sadness through her. She couldn’t ignore the doubts that gnawed at her mind, and she knew she had to confront Sebastian.
Summoning her courage, she cleared her throat and finally asked the question that had been weighing on her mind.
“Mr. Woods, I need to know something,” she started firmly, her voice unwavering. “Tell me the real reason why we got married. Why were you so eager to marry me even when we just met?”
Sebastian chuckled softly, leaning closer to Kourtney, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Because I wanted to! I told you I always do what I want.”
“Really now! And you expect me to believe that crap? You thought I wouldn’t find out your real reason?” Kourtney sneered with contempt.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“And what could be my real reason?” Her husband’s icy gaze shifted towards her, his expression betraying a hint of annoyance.
“Just tell me the truth, Mr Woods. Do you prefer men? Or are you impotent?”
Sebastian’s expression hardened in an instant. His face turned red, contorting with anger. The temperature inside the Limo seemed to drop as his icy demeanor intensified. He was so offended by her question, and it was as if she had insulted his very existence and entire being. He gaped at the woman, thinking if it would be too harsh if he threw her out from the car window.
This woman was bold enough to question his manhood right in his face. The last person who did that was no longer alive to tell the tale. Her audacity was out of this world!
Sebastian took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger boiling within him. His eyes turned to a reddish shade. When Kourtney saw that he didn’t respond, she took it as a sign that he was guilty and continued to press on.
“How dare you use me as some sort of scapegoat! Marrying me just to hide who you really are? Who does that?”
Sebastian’s face immediately tightened again, and his stony expression grew even worse. He looked at the adorable face of the woman as she awaited his response, and he felt his anger begin to subside. No, it wasn’t her fault! He honestly couldn’t blame her for asking.
The media also didn’t know about his allergies. He’d made sure to keep it hidden, or his rivals might use that weakness against him. Only a few family, friends, and people who work closely with him are aware of it.
Those stupid rumors about him being impotent or “that way” were all over the internet. It was all they could come up with to explain his dislike for women, and he’d never cared to address it.
Sebastian’s angry face was soon replaced by a smugness that sent a shiver down Kourtney’s spine. He suddenly thought of something and twisted his lips into a cunning smirk. Like always, he plans to use her words against her and manipulate the situation to his advantage.
He leaned forward to her as he spoke suggestively. “If you’re so curious to find out the truth, why don’t we proceed with our wedding night? Then you can confirm yourself if the rumors are true or not.”
