Lenora and Zachary Chapter 502
Chapter 502 If A Dog Bites You
Unfazed, Zephyr let the police officers escort the wailing Isla into the car.
As Zephyr departed, a barely perceptible sigh of relief escaped from the silent Alice.
To her surprise, Zephyr suddenly halted as he reached the main entrance. He cast a cool glance at Alice.
Alice lowered her gaze, rising to stand behind Zephyr. She sighed helplessly. "Caesare, it's all my fault. I should have stopped her when she had harmful intentions." Zephyr strode away as if he hadn't heard anything.
Half a minute later, two police officers returned, grasping Alice firmly. "You're accused of harboring a criminal suspect. You're coming with us!"
Alice was at a loss for words.
Not long after Zephyr left with the police officers, Lenora arrived at the police station.
"Nora," Sophia called out as she saw her, standing up and waving her hand.
"Soph!" Lenora rushed over, excitement coursing through her as she grabbed Sophia's hand, examining her from head to toe. "Thank goodness you're okay. You scared me!"
Sophia wrapped her arms around Lenora, planting a kiss on her face. "If it weren't for your timely discovery, I might have truly been in trouble."
"It was Zachary who reminded me. I can only say we were lucky. It was too close for comfort."
"Tyrant Fuller? What's going on?"
Lenora explained how Isla had pushed Harrietta into causing the car accident. "Zachary sensed something was wrong. He suspected Isla was planning to harm me and warned me not to leave the house. Since I stayed home, they couldn't target me, leaving you as the only possible target..."
Sophia was completely taken aback, letting out a gasp of disbelief. "She actually caused Hattie to have a car accident? Is this some kind of mistake? Hattie is her own daughter!"
"I was quite shocked when I first heard the news, but Hattie revealed it herself upon waking up. Zachary also reviewed the surveillance footage."
"She's completely lost it!" Sophia fumed. "What kind of stroke of fate could have granted her such incredible luck in this life? Even if we catch her now, she'll only be held for a few days at most." "Did Zephyr say that?"
"Yeah."
"She really got off easy! But I'm curious. With you in her grasp, why didn't she try to mess with Zephyr? Instead, she used Hattie to distract Zachary. Why?"noveldrama
"Who knows? Once we bring her in for questioning, it'll all become clear."
Sophia pursed her lips.
The police officers inquired about the incident from Lenora, took down her statement, and then confirmed the details with the traffic police department.
With this, another accusation was added to the list against Isla.
As Lenora emerged from the interrogation room and made her way toward Sophia, the glass door suddenly swung open from the outside, accompanied by wails and screams.
Two police officers escorted Isla into the police station.
"Let me go! I need to call my uncle! Let me go!" Isla cried out.
It seemed as though she had been shouting for a long time, as her voice had gone hoarse.
When Sophia saw Isla, she was reminded of her own recent ordeal. Her irritation surged within her, and a fiery spark ignited in her eyes.
Unable to contain herself, she stood up, stormed over to Isla, and slapped her hard twice. "You little wretch, you're despicable, a stupid fool, a dumb b*tch!"
Her loud voice echoed throughout the police station.
It took the two nearby police officers a few seconds to react. They then remembered to pull Sophia away. "Ms. Tortell, calm down!"
Isla's mind was buzzing. Snapping back to reality, she charged at Sophia with fury in her eyes, but the police officers restrained her. All she could do was seethe in helpless rage, stamping her foot. "Sophia! I'll kill you! Just you wait!" Upon hearing the commotion, the night shift officers all turned their heads in curiosity.
"Officers, you heard it. If I were to meet an untimely death one day, she should be your first suspect!" Sophia stood a safe distance from where Isla couldn't reach her.
The police officers hurriedly ushered Isla inside.
As she was being led away, Isla struggled, shouting continuously, "Let me go! Are you just going to stand there while she hits me? This is unjust! I'm going to tell my uncle! Zephyr, are you just going to stand by and watch me being bullied?"
"You deserve it! Forget about your uncle. Can't you see where he stands? Are you that clueless?"
Sophia was about to say something else when Zephyr came to her side and gave her a slight tug. "There's no need to argue with her."
As Isla passed by Lenora, her eyes widened in shock. She yelled, "Lenora, you b*tch! This is all your fault! Let me go. I need to see your chief..."
If it weren't for Lenora, Zephyr wouldn't have sent me to jail.
Lenora was rendered speechless.
What is wrong with her?
Meanwhile, Alice, who was behind, remained silent. She kept her head down, trying her best to make herself less noticeable.
The two police officers swiftly ushered Isla into the interrogation room. Once the door was closed, the noise was finally silenced.
At the entrance of a certain office,
Jasmine observed the recent commotion, a flicker of doubt crossing her mind. As she stepped out with documents in hand, she casually asked the police officer beside her, "What just happened?"
The police officer was somewhat hesitant to reveal details. He simply replied, "I'm not really sure myself." Jasmine smiled. When she had the chance, she discreetly instructed her assistant, "Go find out what's going on."
After she finished speaking, she lifted her gaze and saw Lenora not too far away.
"Why won't you let me argue with her?" Sophia turned her head to look at Zephyr, pouting.
"If a dog bites you, do you bite back?"
Sophia cast a doubtful glance at Zephyr. "She was just pleading for your help, Zephyr."
"Yeah, what about it?"
"It's nothing. I just found her words a bit odd."
It's as if Zephyr should help her.
Lenora was making her way toward Sophia and Zephyr when she noticed Jasmine. She paused briefly before casually joining Sophia. "Isla is like a mad dog, barking at anyone she sees. Soph, you were really impressive just now!"
Sophia snorted. "Let's just say she really got under my skin."
Had it not been for the police officers holding her back, she would have definitely slapped Isla a few more times. "Thanks for today," Zephyr said to Lenora.
"No worries. Soph is my friend," Lenora said with a smile. "They'll likely be interrogating her for a while. Soph, shall we head back?" "Okay." Sophia rose from her seat.
Due to the late hour, buying a new phone and replacing the SIM card would have to wait until tomorrow.
Just as they were about to leave, Zephyr suddenly called out, "Mrs. Hoffman."
Lenora turned around, only to realize that Jasmine had already walked up behind her.
Sophia looked up and there she saw an elegant, high-class lady, accompanied by an assistant holding a folder.
The elegant lady nodded at Zephyr. "Zephyr, what brings you here? What happened?"
"It's just a minor issue. There's no need for you to worry, Mrs. Hoffman," Zephyr said.
With a gentle smile, Jasmine nodded and then turned to Lenora. "Weren't you in Fairlake? When did you return?"
"That's none of your business," Lenora replied coldly.
Jasmine gave her a brief glance and huffed lightly. Turning to Zephyr, she said, "I have some matters to attend to, so I'll be heading out now." "Take care, Mrs. Hoffman."
As Jasmine walked away, Sophia watched with curiosity and whispered, "Who is she?"
"My so-called mother."
