Chapter 134
Chapter 134
He thought she was here to travel.
Naomi knew that Dylan was a busy man. Although Chandler kept referring to him as his useless grandson, Naomi knew he was just joking. If Dylan was as useless as Chandler said, why would he send Dylan to show her around town?
"It's okay, Dylan. You don't have to babysit me. I'll be fine on my own."
Dylan would not have any of this. "How can I do that, Naomi? It's your first time here in Herland, so I won't let you strut around here all by yourself! Besides, there are plenty of things you don't know about this place, and I can see you're interested in learning more about Herland. I'm a historian, so of course I should be the one showing you around!"
Naomi paused, then turned to stare at Dylan. "You're a historian?"
Dylan blinked slowly, then looked down at his clothes in puzzlement. "Don't I look like one?"
Naomi's gaze fell on his outfit. Dylan was wearing a pastel pink shirt with a pair of white capris and tan leather shoes. His hair was slicked back, and coupled with his charming smile, he looked more like a playboy than a prim and proper historian.
Naomi pursed her lips, then shook her head. "Not really."
Dylan knew she was just sparing his feelings. He grinned and stuffed his hands into his pockets. "Don't underestimate me, Naomi. I know everything there's to know about this place!"
Naomi nodded. "Alright then, you can show me around, but if you need to get back to work, don't feel obliged to push it off because of me. I'll be fine walking around on my own."
"Will do, Naomi."
With that, Naomi continued perusing the museum, taking notes as she scrutinized every item. However, now that she knew Dylan was a historian, she kept asking him questions left and right about everything she saw, and Dylan, as he said, could answer every single one of her questions with ease. He was like a walking encyclopedia.
Naomi finally learned the lesson of not judging a book by its cover. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
The morning passed by within the blink of an eye. Dylan brought Naomi out for lunch at noon, and the moment they got into the car, Dylan called Scott.
Scott did not show up the entire morning, nor did he attempt to call or text Naomi. He did not even reply to Naomi's message that morning. She was not even sure whether he saw it or not.
However, she was not too bothered about it. Even if Scott was busy, he would eventually read her message anyway, and he would make the necessary arrangements once he found out about her decision.
Dylan's car pulled away from the museum. His phone was connected to the audio system on his car via Bluetooth, and he did not seem too privy about his privacy. He pressed a button on his steering wheel which allowed him to dial Scott's number directly.
Naomi, who sifted through her notes, lifted her head when she heard the dial tone.
Dylan's hands were on the steering wheel, his fingers tapping rhythmically with the dial tone. His lips were turned up in a smile. He appeared to be in a very good mood.
Naomi glanced at him momentarily, then went back to looking at her notes.
At the same time, Scott picked up.
