Rebirth 8
Chapter 8 Yasmine took the hunting rifle from Yonas and praised silently. What a charming guy!
When everyone was ready, the hunters followed the coach's instructions and entered the hunting area. Since most people were just there for Yonas' big name, those who weren't skilled at hunting stayed back at camp to watch. Among them were Xavier and Yvette. The Russell family had prepared binoculars and stocked up on drinks and snacks, and with plenty of adorable deer around, it wasn't boring. Still, most of the crowd was more interested in the action happening out in the field, quickly grabbing their binoculars for a better view, Recalling Yasmine's words, Xavier lowered his gaze and picked up his binoculars.
The hunting area opened to a vast grassland, serene and untouched, with the sky stretching endlessly. Yasmine rode on horseback, the wind whipping past her.
An unexpected thrill shot through her, as if something long-repressed had finally awakened. Her eyes were bright, reminiscent of her carefree days.
Not far away. Xavier lowered the binoculars, a serious expression on his face as he lost himself in thought. He had never realized that Yasmine, someone he once saw as dull, had such a captivating side.
Lucy, who wasn't riding, held onto a hunting dog and waited for Yasmine to finish. When Yasmine dismounted, Lucy glanced up and caught Yonas watching Yasmine too, curiosity flickering in his eyes. Lucy felt a twinge of unease.
Yonas spoke to a staff member, who then came over respectfully and said, "Ms. Sanchez, Ms. Lynch, Mr. Russell said the hunter with the most catches today can take home their favorite prey or a tamed horse or deer." Lucy's eyes lit up with excitement. "Yasmine, if you win, you can take that horse home!"
Yasmine felt a spark of temptation.
Most of the wealthy attendees, like Lucy, were amateurs at this, and only a few were skilled hunters. By the end, it was Yonas and Yasmine who each had caught a total of nineteen prey.
As the hunt nearly wrapped up, Yasmine spotted a black goose circling overhead, yet Yonas had already loaded his gun and aimed at the flying geese.
His aim was incredibly precise, and Yasmine knew she was about to lose. However, when the shot rang out, the goose was still soaring freely.
Yasmine paused and glanced at Yonas. The gun barrel was smoking as he put his gun away decently, allowing a staff member
to clean it for him
A few onlookers sighed in disappointment.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
"If Mr. Russell had hit that, he would have outdone Ms. Sanchez
"So close! That goose could have been his!"
Yonas removed his gloves and turned back to Yasmine with a slight smile. "What a pity," he said, sounding genuinely sincere.
Yasmine raised her rifle and hit the goose easily, Gasps of surprise surrounded her as she lowered her eyes, lost in thought. After the hunt, a barbecue was set up outdoors for lunch.
Maybe because Yasmine was hungry from the hunt, her appetite was surprisingly good, while Lucy seemed a bit upset. She 1/2
bit into a chicken wing and muttered, "B**s."
Following Lucy's gaze, Yasmine saw Xavier carefully grilling meat for Yvette, who leaned beside him with a sweet smile.
Yasmine found Lucy's reaction amusing and handed her a skewer of vegetables. Those two are happy. Why are you so annoyed? 57%2
Lucy took it and scoffed, Tm just bothered by the two b**s. Look at how sweet they are! When you were with Xavier, he never treated you like that." Yasmine's expression stayed calm. She knew why Xavier was indifference toward her-he didn't love her at all.
Just then, a mischievous voice chimed in. "Yo, look at these two ladies enjoying themselves."
