Chapter 172 Her Boy Toy
Has Aurelia reached a point where she didn’t even dare to answer my calls? As if that wasn’t bad enough, she has her boy toy answer the phone for her? The guy’s voice didn’t quite sound like that of a typical boy toy, though. Judging from his voice, it was intimidating enough. My heart even trembled slightly when I heard his questioning tone.
“Well? What are you going to do to Aurelia?” The coldness in Matthew’s voice became even more pronounced.
Spencer frowned. This boy toy sure is something. He has a knack for intimidating others and a certain charm that appeals to women. With that in mind, he said arrogantly, “I have a hundred ways to make her beg us in the end. I advise you to leave her now before she runs out of money to support you. Isn’t money what you guys are after in this line of work? You should hurry up and leave now. Hand her the phone and let her talk to me.”
For a boy toy who relies on women for a living, he sure has some nerve!
“Which brother of hers are you?” Matthew asked,
Seizing that opportunity to vent his feelings, Spencer exclaimed, “I’m her third brother! She was always the most afraid of me at home, and she had to listen to me the most. When she was at home, she would do all sorts of things to please me. But no matter what she did, I was never satisfied with her!”

At the entrance of the hospital ward, Matthew made a call to Gordon and said, “Find out who is Aurelia’s third brother in the Leedon family.”
In just a few minutes, Gordon returned the call.
“I’ve got it all sorted out. Ms. Shaw’s third brother is Spencer Leedon, a celebrity. He’s doing quite well in the entertainment industry, but his acting skills are rather average. He’s nowhere near as talented as Charlie from the Shaw family,” Gordon said, reporting the information meticulously.
Just as Matthew was about to reach for a cigarette, he suddenly remembered he was in a hospital and dismissed the idea.
He then said in a cold voice, “Make sure he can’t survive in the entertainment industry.”
“All right; I’ll make the arrangements right away!” Gordon got a little nervous.

“Also, look into what has happened to the Leedon family recently.”

Minutes later, Gordon found the information and called back. “Gideon’s wife was involved in a car accident, which resulted in the amputation of both her legs.”
The Leedon family’s business is on the brink of collapse, and with this recent incident, things are looking even more dire. With a quirk of his brow, Matthew leaned against the door, his gaze falling on Aurelia in the hospital ward.
She should have known about this matter, but she never uttered a word to him about it, nor did she ever tell him how the Leedon family treated her. If it hadn’t been for that phone call earlier, he would never have been able to imagine what she had endured in the Leedon family.
Phyllis was in the midst of her night shift at the hotel when she received a call from Melanie.
Her feelings toward her daughter were quite complex.
“Mom, I was wrong. I spoke impulsively and I’ve regretted it ever since I left home. I shouldn’t have said what I did,” Melanie admitted right away.
Her attitude was commendable.
However, Phyllis had already lost much of her faith in Melanie.
“Realizing your mistakes is a good thing. Some things can’t be rushed, though. Time will reveal at person’s true character,” Phyllis replied in a nonchalant tone.
One could always count on time to reveal the true nature of a person.
After listening to Phyllis‘ words, Melanie rolled her eyes in annoyance. The idea of time revealing a person’s true colors was utter nonsense to her.
“Mom, something terrible has happened to our family! I’m really scared and I feel so lost! I don’t know who to turn to! I really don’t know what to do!”
The sound of Melanie’s crying carried an air of helplessness that tugged at one’s heartstrings.
Phyllis let out a sigh, then asked, “What happened?”
Given the way the Leedon family handled things, it was no surprise that problems arose easily. It
was all too common.

Upon hearing this, Phyllis was taken aback. “Is the car accident that severe?”

Auri is a really kind soul. If her heart hadn’t been thoroughly broken, if something unknown to them hadn’t occurred, how could she possibly have distanced herself from the Leedon family. I can’t just stand by while the Leedon family bullies Auri!

Melanie had never imagined that Phyllis would reject her so directly.

“If she has chosen to cut you all off, it’s clear that you must have done something to hurt her, forcing her to distance herself from you. The Leedon family has several children, including you, all of whom are by Mrs. Leedon’s side, so she probably doesn’t need Auri anyway. We didn’t want her to come over to take care of things, but merely to keep my mother company. After all, having family around during this time is crucial for my mother’s post–operation recovery.”
“I still have a lot of work to do, so it’s pointless for you to come to me with this matter,” Phyllis said. She then promptly hung up the phone before Melanie could say anything further.
