Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled

Chapter 310

Chapter 310

I smirked sarcastically. “Well then, keep your distance, stop showing off in front of me, at least wait till Neil marries you. Before that, you should worry more about his parents’ objections.”

Bonnie bit her lip, speechless with anger. She just loved to provoke me.

Instead of picking up the fruit basket, she stomped back to her car, full of indignation, and drove off. From NôvelDrama.Org.

Watching her car leave, I felt a pang of unease Maybe I should have brought my mom home earlier, to ensure she could rest in peace.

What if someone in the hospital spilled the beans to her?

Considering this, I halted my steps to the office, returned to the hospital, arranged for my mom’s discharge, and called Bailey to pick her

up

I

Once my mom was settled in at home, I heaved a sigh of relief.

“Rena, have you been handling the company business all by yourself these days?” my mom suddenly asked.

“Um, yes,” I replied.

“Where’s your dad? Didn’t he help you?” Despite being asleep for so long, my mom was still quick- witted. “Didn’t you ask your uncle for help?”

I shook my head, not answering.

I didn’t want to burden my mom with these issues, so I decided not to tell her anything

She wanted her phone, but I refused, telling her she needed to rest and shouldn’t strain her brain.

Once my mom had rested, I finally trudged downstairs.

Bailey had already left to rest. The living room was empty except for me. I grabbed a bottle of red wine, planning to take a sip to help me sleep, but then my phone rang.

The ringing was urgent, echoing loudly in the silent living room. I quickly put down my wine glass and picked up the call.

“Where are you?” Neil’s voice came through the phone, filled with gentleness.

“I’m at Sapphire River Community,” I reclined back, picking up my wine glass again as I continued, “What about you, why are you still -up?”

Neil paused before replying, “Can’t sleep. There was a party tonight, had a few drinks.”

I glanced at the wine in my glass and couldn’t help but smile, “I’m having a drink too, fancy another one?”

I was just joking, but Neil asked back, “Really?”

“Yes. But you can’t have any right now.” I savored the wine in my glass, its rich flavor was soothing, and it would help me sleep well.

The sound of a car door opening came from the other end of the phone, and Neil’s voice, tinged with a tipsy smile, said, “Is that so? Open the door”

I was taken aback. Was Neil at Sapphire River Community too?

Hearing him ask me to open the door, I got up and headed for the front door. As I got closer, I saw a man outside. He wasn’t wearing a coat, just a deep blue shirt and a grey vest sweater, looking extremely elegant.

The wind was chilly, so I quickly opened the do

“What

you doing here? Aren’t you cold?”

into his arms. He smelled of alcohol, he must have had quite a bit, he seemed

As soon as the words left my mouth, Neil pulled slightly tipsy

He dipped his head down and gently kissed my lips, asking, “Did you find out about Bonnie and me?”

“Um, Stella told me today.” I leaned into his chest, listening to his heartbeat, it all felt a bit surreal.

“Are you jealous?” he asked again.

I didn’t know how to respond. While I had chosen to trust Nell and work with him, I hadn’t fully accepted him. I still couldn’t forget the past.

Neil sensed my hesitation, he bit my lip, causing me to suck in a sharp breath from the pain.

He looked at me, clearly displeased “You’re not jealous?”

I quickly nodded, “I am jealous, but didn’t you say it was all an act!”

Neil grunted, then suddenly grasped my hand, his voice turning raspy, ‘Is your mom asleep?”

instinctively looked up at the second floor. Given my mom’s current state, she should be asleep.

I nodded.

That nod seemed to unleash Neil’s beastly side. My hand brushed against something it shouldn’t have, the burning sensation made me

startled!

“Neil, don’t…” I yelped quietly.

“These past few days without you at home, I barely slept. My parents kept scolding me, threatening me to apologize to you, to bring you back, do you know how much pressure I’m under?” Neil sounded utterly helpless.

I could imagine Neil being scolded by his parents, unable to explain the situation because the fewer people knew, the better. We had to keep up the act.

Neil’s parents, Stella, Mitch, all have been used by us. But it was the only way to make Bonnie believe.

“I know you’re stressed, just hang in there a bit longer.” I tried to comfort Neil.

“I can hang on, but only if you help me relieve some pressure.” Neil’s words made my face turn red.

He caressed my cheek gently, yet with an underlying seductive intent.

I seized his hand, “No! What if my mom wakes up?”

Neil chuckled indulgently. “Silly, do I look like that kind of person to you? Let’s go to my place.”

In my heart, I thought, if Neil really started to make demands, he indeed would be that kind of person.

But I couldn’t say that out loud, or I’d be done for tonight.

Neil led me by the hand to the villa next door. It was my first time there. The layout was similar to my house, but the decor was different As soon as we stepped into the living room, Neil kissed me like a storm. I couldn’t make a sound, my body leaning backward, almost falling.

His arm hooked around my waist powerfully. I was forced to stand on my tiptoes and reciprocate his aggressive kiss. We had only been apart for a few days, but he was acting as if he hadn’t touched me in years.

“Ah!” Finally, I fell onto the couch. Neil’s eyes were full of intense desire, his emotions burning like flames. He leaned over me and said, “I have to pretend to abandon you again tomorrow, what if I can’t do it?”

“What do you mean abandon me..” I was utterly embarrassed.

“I seem to be falling for you more and more. I miss you every single second. I don’t want to work, don’t want to deal with company matters, don’t want to see Bonnie, I only want to see you.” Neil’s kisses fell on my cheek, his voice brimming with emotions.

This direct confession has left me dizzy, all I could do was to keep my head down, avoiding to meet his eyes, in case he might catch a glimpse of my current bewilderment.

Neil gently brushed the corner of my lips, his eyes sparkling with an intense passion, “My folks miss you, Daisy misses you, Hannah misses you, they all think I’ve chased you away. But in truth, I’m almost going nuts missing you, Irene, you’ve got to take responsibility.”
